no, it's not that close. There is nothing new under the sun man. You can always find something similar.
I'd have to say the new sword is awesome. Better than the DoT. Congrats Andre!

oh no! I smell 400k weapons****elemental sword****
But that kinda looks like a dagger too.....sorta. Would be cool to make a dagger and sword version Either way /drool.
But can anyone tell me what those unicorn and dragon things are? They're in the honerable mentions.

Here was my entry: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/51977822/ - I drew up the two alternate designs so that all three continental 'flavors' could potentially be satisfied. I'm better known for preferring modest designs that can be realistally made IRL than outlandish fantasy extravagance, anyway.
Again I'm kinda miffed that I didn't make the finals (some of the ones chosen were really... uh... WTF? but congratulations anyway), but as long as a Finn takes home one of the prizes, I'm happy

some very impressive designs here and some that need to be replaced with the honorable mentions like that scythe.
anyway heres the sucky part people....implementation.
you may have beautiful designed weapons but somehow i dont think Anet are going to do a good job duplicating the design in-game, its happened before.
i considered sending a design which was similar to the phoenix axe or the scythe, it had demonic wings as the blades etc, but nothing compaired to the winners
thats a awesome design/idea with the teddy btw
actially your scythe is pretty impressive also

It's not really any more risque than, say, the painting of Melandru at Gandara. Sure, it's more or less a nude, but there's nothing showing (Strategically draped leaves FTW!) Besides, as a couple people pointed out, it probably won't be big enough to really see a lot of detail.

It's possible that it was included because it was almost identical to Venus' entry. Skill level of the artist isn't as important when you can rely on a second image to fill in the details.
(And don't dis crayons; they can be a potent medium in the right hands )

The winning sword and shield are rather nice. And for some reason I love the frog wand. The bow is pretty bleh.

Crayon is a very deep. Most people dismiss it because its what children learn on.
