Just about all of the pvp titles are pretty high up their. But theirs alot of hardcore pvpers, so I guess its for them lol. But the pve titles are pretty good in my opinion, and for the ones that require money guess you just have to farm and sell for them :S.

I think that 1000 days of 10k a day is a very reasonable amount to max the kurzick/luxon titles are.
I do not think pvp titles should be easily maxable. I would not mind if the kurzick/luxon max was even higher. The max ranks are for people who want to play that much, they are designed for the non-casual player, the dedicating-all-my-time-to-a-game type of person who just wants to have something to show off.
I do however think that IAH / COC are kind of insane just because of the insane amount of gold needed for a title that displays no skill whatsoever.

What makes you think that the titles will carry over to GW2? For all we know, there might not even be such a thing as Kurzick/Luxon in GW2. wearing a title called "Friend of Who?!" seems rather...silly. Besides "reasonable" is enterily subjective, you might not be willing to do what it takes to get title X, someone else might be perfectly comfotable making uch effort...

Fine, but since this is based purely and solely on conjecture about the relation between monuments in GW:EN and (their benefit in) GW2; nothing much will come of this. I predict posts along the lines of "yes/no, <title> is way too hard/easy to get" and "no one is making you go for the titles"

Account wide titles, gold sink titles, legendary defender of ascalon, survivor are 'ridiculous'. I say survivor because it makes me pout that I can't get it on my favourite toons.

The only title I can think of that is too ridiculous to obtian is the Drunkard title.
Survivor can be a pain to get and it was available after many people had their main character die at least once, myself include... oh well.
The drunkard in my opinion is ridiculous because it requires you too stand around doing nothing but drinking on a regular schedule.
Unless the boardwalk is open and you're also standing there accumulating lucky points, you're doing nothing.... and bored.

The Protector and Guardian titles are not ridiculous.
Everything else is immensely ridiculous and grind-based rather than skill over time based.
Yes even rank and PVP titles are grind-based.

You just say that cuz your jealous...
I have two Survivors and well on my way to a third, no Legendary yet. They just seem to die or I lose patience.
Drunkard is fun, but Incorrigible Ale-hound is expensive, time consuming, and well, go for it , if you want.
Legendary Defender of Ascalon, well I have a monk at Lvl 17 in pre and I am looking at quite a while until I get there. But I managed to make Drunkard in pre-searing so it is not that difficult. Yes, there are Incorrigible Ale Hounds in pre-searing, and some sweet tooths (chocolate bunnies), and even treasure hunters (easter egg hunting) running around in pre.
On the other hand, Lightbringer, treasure hunter, and wisdom titles are actually useful for something...

one of the most insane is Lucky/Unlucky.
Tier 5 was was already a bit out there - but the recently discovered tiers are just mad!
5 should be max for those two - anything higher is just lunacy!

You can pretty much say that all titles are ridiculous and insane. Everyone likes to brag about how Guild Wars is a grind free game, yet every title - save for maybe the Protector's - are complete, utter grind. Irony!
Of course, the definition of "grind" is different among many.

Of course titles are utter grind.
See, once upon a time there was this development studio with a fantastic new idea. They imagined an MMORPG where there was no boring, useless climb up an arbitrarily limiting level ladder.
Singing their happy little song, they made their game... and were immediately greeted by an endless stream of, "WTF!? Level 20 is max? That sucks! What is there to do in a game besides raise a little number on your character sheet that shows you're better than everyone else?"*
Not the sort of people to give up on a dream, the developers added titles to their game, giving people some way to grind for prestige without ruining the game for the more sane players.
And the griping continued unabated... The End.
Don't worry, though. I hear GW2 is going to have full-fledged level grind, so everyone will be happy, right?
Right??
*Note: Grammar improved from actual comments, for readability.

That is, in my opinion, too high and in no way motivates the vast majority of the player base to play and enjoy the game. Set at a much more reasonable level, many more players would play that aspect of the game with the aim of achieving the title and surely that is the only reasons the developers put the titles into the game.

Max lvl for Kurzik/luxon title track is not so ridiculous , many ppl have maxed it already , like me ^^
it take a while but time needed for do it is quite reasonable , GW have 2 years and it will reamin for next 2 maybe 3 , so u want to make all tiles for example in 1 year and quit the game ??
For me only ridiculous titles are these when u need to have only a lots of cash like drunkard and sweet tooth , go ebay buy gold and u have 2 maxed titles is stupid .

IAH and CoC are pretty reasonable, you can either farm a lot during an event or just spend a bit of cash, just as easy as a protector title or cartographer imo.
Legendary Defender is that hardest PvE title i think, then max Treasure Hunter, the I'm Very Important title is a pretty easy title to get since they added in so many easy to max titles.
PvP titles are way out there, they have a max tier, but not one anyone will ever reach, theres only 1 rank14 hero in guildwars and hes gotta double that before he gets the max, which isnt gonna happen soon if ever.
The champion title will go downhill a bit i think, without the ladder being reset more and more 1200+ will appear, especially with the k-value in AT's.

Well, some titles are trully ridiculous:
* Sweet Tooth (This is purest gold sink, ever. Spend loads of money, then just click for couple of minutes there in no tomorrow, worst tiel ever imho)
* Drunkard (this one is also time sink, it kinda looses coolness when you realized how long you have to sit and be on timer to click beer to get max out of em)
* Lucky/Unlucky - come on, afk gold sink.
Some titles are not bad, but cheesy:
* Survivor (for one max survivor who got it by playing game you get dozens of people who safely farmed XP and completelly devauled it.)
* Legendary defender - would be something, if it wasnt mostly AFK based, there is nothing hard in it, it just requires you to have pc stable enough to run for days without reset.

Thanks for the constructive replies so far....
I guess the point of this thread (and I do hope the developers read it) is, from a game design point of view, what purpose do titles being in the game achieve? In essence I believe there are two reasons:
a) give people something to aim for (reward) once the 'main' part of the campaign has been achieved.
b) Kudos
Both reasons from a design point of view should encourage both casual and hardcore players to keep playing and enjoying the game...which brings me back to my original point.
For hardcore players, any max level is achievable and for point b above, those titles should have a high requisite. But for the casual player, some titles they might like to go for, are simply out of reach and that kind of defeats the object of putting them in the game in the first place.
I would suggest that some of the 'fun / no effort required titles' (eg drunkard / sweet tooth) should have much lower reqs or only one level (not that I personally have any interest in those titles)
The survivor title needs relaxing (not a moan for my benefit - I have 1 legendary and 3 others on lv2) as disconnects and lag are out of player control - Under 3 deaths to achieve would be reasonable.
Another improvement I would like to see for GW2 (assuming of course titles / skills are implemented in some form) are smaller steps between levels, particularly for those titles which accrue in game benefits (treasure hunter etc) and I would predict that GW2 will come with, probably a % based non combat skills that work in a similar fashion to the way those skills/titles work now.

Lucky/Unlucky are pretty ridiculously hard to get. The PvP ones aren't bad if you hardcore PvP (which i don't so forget those) and the only other really ridic ones are Drunkard sweettooth and all the other titles that reward people for spammin WTS stuff in local and getting tons of money or people who buy Ebay gold. Some of the rest may take a while, but as some people said, you aren't supposed to completely finish the game in a few months and leave.
