At least one slot is a must! For the matter of pure fairness.
Remeber that:
GW:EN is not a full standalone game but just an expansion, so given that it should be cheaper than a standalone campagin. It won't have new professions, will have less skills, less armors, generally less content than a 50$ standalone gw game.
Also, according to current official info, it won't have any extra slots (they say that because of no new profession, forgetting about that slots are really needed, especially with the crappiest tournament reward system imaginable which basically REQUIRES buying slots for perma-pvp chars)
So those 2 missing slots have to be bought separately = -20$
I will certainly buy GW:EN but i WILL feel cheated if i will have to pay over 30$ for it and it won't include even 1 extra slot.

I'd have to agree with Winterclaw. It makes absolutely no sense why anyone would not want to get a free slot slot with GW:EN.

Ehm?
I'm sorry but here's something i dont get..
Sure it would be great to have another character slot in GW:EN..
But why complain about it if they dont?
I see no point in complaining about the money cost.
"When it cost so much they better give us at least one more slot".
Remember that we are paying so extremely little, compared to several other games etc. WoW, Everquest, LOTR Online, And i think most of us are very happy that we don't pay each month, and that we only have to pay for the game it self. + We have a way better game than all those jerks who pay for etc WoW :P
BTW: Anyone know for sure, if we are going to pay each month for GW 2?
Cause it actually wouldn't surprise me much if we had to. sadly

Oh....
You mean not working out new skill classes, and dedicating massive developer hours to making them work and mesh with current skill sets, etc.?
Not half the work, but a very good chunk. I'd say oh..... 1/6 right there. Funny how that matches the "discount", compared to a full release.

Imho an expansion should have an extra slot at minimum. What if you didnt buy all three chapters? What if you didnt get extra slots from pre-ordering previously? Yes you can go buy a slot if you wish, but the point is rather, you're buying an expansion.. you should get a slot.

BUT, Anet has always made it such that you could NOT make one of every class regardless of the number of expansions you bought. Always one short. So why should this be any different?

After having all three chapters atm you cannot have 10 different professions on 1 account without having to resort on buying via the online shop. I have 9 characters because of the NF preorder kit. Credit card or debit card its all the same not every player definitely has the means to buy via onlineshop (age, social economic status etc.)
I certainly wouldn't want ANet to charge us extra if they added a slot in GWEN, simply because other people already bought those extra slots.
But on marketing point of view (as SirJackassIII stated) adding an extra slot might be a way to keep people interested in the game.
GW2 is still far away and gives me time to work on titles that would mean something in GW2 (via Hall of Monuments on GWEN) and I'd love to be able to enjoy all the 10 different professions (now I have to resort on deleting one of my characters).

Most of the /notsigned people are just people who already spent money on a slot and are getting their panties in a knot thinking about others getting one for free.

I understand wanting another slot (because who doesn't like freebies), but expecting it just because you don't have a credit card gives me the chuckles.
Hope and petition all you want, but don't hold your breath.

BUT it doesn't mean it should be always like that, because this time we WILL be paying for it.
Just do the simple math:
Full Campagin = 50$
Full campagin without 2 slots = 50$-20$ = worth 30$
expansion = less content than a full campagin
expansion without any slots = can't be worth more than full campagin without slots
so
expansion for over 30$ (expected price is 40$) = wtf, paying more for less
Simple Solution : Add 1 slot, it costs nothing (except for a slight decrease in expected slot sales) and it suddenly becomes fair.

I'd rather have more storage than an other character slot.

Since GW:EN is going to be about $30, you can buy two additional character slots when you purchase it. It'll bring the price up to $50 and you can pretend they came with the game! Yays!

I've spent the past...four days now? Trying to buy an extra character slot through the Guild Wars Store, using two different credit cards and a debit card (all of which work fine elsewhere) and the store has been malfunctioning on me. And GW support has been really, really unhelpful.
It's a good thing GWEN hasn't come out, extra slot or no, because then I'd really be fuming.

Maybe if they just sold character slot keys in stores? Or more simpler to buy "points" that could be bought in $5 increments or so in stores so you can buy whatever on the online store.

While free slots would be good and all, I don't actually care too much if they are there or not.
However the New Zealand dollar is very high at the moment (making the slots cheaper for me) and the Reserve Bank isn't liking it being this high, so are trying to push it back down. So this means I would really like an official answer (something that ANET puts on guildwars.com for all to see) so I know how many slots I should buy now before the amount I pay for slots goes up again.
