I remember reaching Beacons Perch for the very first time, ran out the exit to Lornar's Pass to explore... and got crushed like a bug. I was like "WTF everything is > lvl20 here"

So True,Heroes ruined the Teamplay in this game, I remember before NightFall, people standing in missions outpost asking for a healer, warrior or other classes, now all i can see people showing off saying "Hahaha! i did blah blah blah mission with heroes!!"
I am not an old player here, been playing for 7 months, the game is still fun for me, though A-net trying to stop the botting problem by nerfing farming instead of baning botters.

u guys forgot wen capping gladiator defence was almost impossible because to cap an elite skill you had to cast it while the other guy was casting, and since stances were instant...well u know the story

[skill]Protective bond[/skill]

R.I.P.

actually i'm still trying to figure out a way to use it. been thinking with a ranger hero doing greater con and winter then using mantra of frost but it's kinda clunky.

i don't know if anyone else has the same hate for ascalon (after playing through it, then playing through it with the friends that weren't online, then playing through it again with friends that are new to the game)
since it was the only starting area.

lol, capping was great. i don't remember how many times i capped some inane crap that i already had. lol, monks charging to play missions.

/sigh. for some reason you got me missing the pre-cu swg too (i know a lot of swg players came to gw).

"So True,Heroes ruined the Teamplay in this game"

brother, if you were here for that, you wouldn't be saying that. i've waited almost an hour in a group while waiting for a monk. that's why i learned how to use the hench ai (before heroes) and blew players off.

for all the, "this group is awesome!" groups you get into, there were about 5-10, "how did these idiots get this far?" groups.

thk was definitely the choke-point for idiots. i felt way better back then getting into groups on the rof islands since the half-wits were back in thk wiping groups still.

prince asmodai, you made me actually "lol"

oh, scary raebbit...hella lol. that reminds me when i tried to be a backup healer with my r/mo (in beta). i think the missions around riverside province were different too. sanctum cay was the last mission in beta...

and the easy w/r build i used to farm the gold giant boots in sanctum cay.

drake farming in the kryta province mission...oink! ftw.

I've been meaning to do one of these topics for a while because i keep remenicing about the old stuff about GW like....
  • Atrribute refund points and the pain of having to change builds
When necromancers could ahve as many minions as their were dead bodies
    When Superior Absorbtion was 100k
When 15k tormentors was the same as 1.5k tormentors and there was the great necro protest in LA
When you could farm minos and griffons till the cows came home and the retarded amount of bots that came in and out of Augry Rock ID1
When you could actually get run through the game and not have to do missions
When there were actually people in Wilds D1 and they needed the missions done
When Sorrows Furnace came out and Flints Wand went for insane amounts of money
    When Skill balances were exciting
When you could echo Meteor Storm and have the monsters stand in both of them and not move
When protective bond was found on a skill bar
    The first Guild Wars Halloween
When THK was rediculously hard and it taking me 14 tries to beat it
Fighting undead Rurik and going WTF HE"S A ZOMBIE!
    When Ecto was 13k
When The Last Pride [evil] was still around
When IWAY dominated HoH (not HA) and Your Math Teacher [math] held halls for hours
When Team Arenas was next to Droknars Forge and getting pwned in Ascalon arenas because peopel would get run to droks, get high armor, cap an elite skill, and pwn the crap out of everyone
When no one wanted a mesmer (oh wait....)
When you pikced up the book in FoW and all monsters would attack you
When a Bonder was needed or else the group failed
When Gaile appeared in LA ID1

man what a f'ed up game GW has become

I remember selling my Kuunavang for 70k, so I could buy my Granite Citadel 15k armor, with a set of runes.

I remember buying another Kuunavang back two months later for 60k. :-)

And no, I'm not playing for long, Oct 2006.

I remember how I loved the log in screen music for Prophecies. Sometimes I log in, go the the in-game store and listen to it still. Attribute refund points, getting to droks and having people in my guild think I was teh 733t for being the first, when shards were something like 18k, ectos 25k, black dye 33k, and vigor and absorption runes were 100k. Sometimes I miss those days.

I remember making "bank" the week of the release of GW by spamming "WTS Expert salvage Kits" and charging 50 more gold than they cost me in Yak's bend. And people actually bought them because yak's bend was crazy far into the game. I also remember wanting armor for my first toon, my ranger, and thinking "Crap, fur squares are 800g each, thats gonna take me months to get" And the best was walking around pre-searing thinking it was the whole game.

Guild Wars has had some amazing times, and actually, this thread has helped me realize why I have played, and made me want to keep playing. (As long as they update the max of the KoaBD title "

Here's some stuff I remember.

Selling all my Sup absorption to the merchant when they dropped from 70k to 30k in the space of 20 minutes.
My first gold drop (Gold req 11 14-20 gladius, sundering 10/9) and selling it for 1k.
Accidentally salvaging a gold armor in Hell's Precipice instead of IDing it.
My first max weapon, a blue maxed r8 Mursaat bow, given to me by my former guild leader. I still have it.
The sense of accomplishment I felt when I finally made it to level 20 in the desert.
The major buildup before the release of Factions, and the subsequent letdown.
Thinking that the Underworld was something you could never get out of.
Playing in arenas to have fun, with other people who were playing to have fun.
My current guild leader buying me Malinon's Shield, and teaching me how to ettin farm.
My first elite, Shield of Regeneration.
RUNNING TO PIKEN SQUARE 500G!
