i remember my first guild, all we did was explore remote areas such as dragon's gullet, twin serpants lake, ect, for fun, and tried to find cool hiding spots and camping spots where we journeyed to, and just talked, it brings back memories...

I remember many of these things.

The monk strike in THK was the funniest, it was at the height of monk snootiness when THK was the ultimate noob filter with people making 10+ attempts before getting through. I don't know how many times I've been in groups scolded by monks for not doing things right up to their expectations just before they zone out.

Not until I started to play a monk who would have to chase Wamo's into the enemy aggro to keep them alive and then have them pitch a fit when I failed or got myself in trouble trying to save them from their own stupidity.

But the Runners Academy for the Droks run from Beacons Perch was something else. Not an official place mind you, but advertised on this forum and you had to contact the members of this guild in-game to arrange your training. You had to be a lvl 20 W/Mo with Superior Vigor and Absorbtion, and had to sport a certain set of skills including Mending and a Dolyak Signet. After paying a certain fee, you would be taken by the experts down the run and shown how to do it. Then you could charge people a small fortune for the run.

I did not participate in this particular piece of tutoring and the Drok's run has changed a great deal since then....

Started when GW Profecies went retail. Loved my Elementalist until they gelded him into oblivion. I loved taking on monsters 6 lvls above me and winning, going to a new town and there was noone there for several hours because noomne knew it was there, running the sanctum cay mission with my Ranger before they fixed the boat scene. Now all I do is log on to see if friends are there and talk a few minutes then log off. No fun anymore.

Oh, how fun and exciting the pve world was to me back then. The music and environment added with the nice graphics made the game such a nice thing to play. I'm suprised that I used to played for hours and hours everyday and ended up taking like half a year to finish the game on my first character.
Random arenas was a good memory as well. I spent a helluva lot of time playing it. oh yea, and I also miss the ol' login screen too =/. It had nice music along with it.

Same here, but what I could explore was fun none the less.

I also remember the first time I beat prophecies. 3 of our group members dropped out as soon as we got into the mission area, but for some reason we kept going and beat the last mission. I was on my mesmer and i'm glad I decided to bring a perma rez.

I wish I would of added the ones that stuck with it, I wonder if they still play.

I remember Kyhlo before it was renamed Ascalon. Still have some screenshots!

I remember 100 Blades NOT being an elite

I remember Elites being "capturable" in the early game.

I remember waiting anxiously for the next "preview weekend" back in 2004.

I remember people waving their goodbyes and saying "cya next month!" when a preview weekend was over

There was this ... butterfly ... in pre-searing that I must have followed for a good twenty minutes, just because I was amazed to see it at all.

Storm bows were great! I remember when you could buy a max white one for 1k, get a couple mods for 1k, and sell them (now blue) for 25k-ish each

I also remember when Cyclone Axe triggered Zealot's Fire. Ah, the whammo days.

I remember leaving pre-searing too early, because my friend was a bit ahead of me, and therefore got wiped by 4 grawls during a quest just outside Ascalon City. Made me think again abou how fast I wanted to progress in this game.

Or ending op in the Crystal Desert before I had seen the Jungle, because I had taken the shortcut by walking directly to Sanctum Cay. Even before the cartography title was released, I already was scraping walls, and I told to myself: "You are not leaving this Kryta-Area before you have mapped every little bit"

I remember back when Starcraft looked like a re-skinned Warcraft 2.

(It's relevant! I promise! Mike O' Brien and Jeff Strain worked on Starcraft!)

I remember when my friends list and guild roster actually had more than a couple of people online, and people weren't so rude in towns.

I also remember starting the game from runescape and thinking " My god this game is probably gonna be my one and only game" .
Well, it wasn`t

Oh and i also remember being called a n00b for the first time because of my bad spelling

Oh wow you guys, this really brings back memories.

I really remember my first character. I was a R/E because the book claimed that they could dish out elemental damage along with have a pet. I always brought firestorm with me. Then by the time I got to LA, I remember asking my guild whether I should keep using firestorm or switch to meteor shower. I was then baffled when my energy bar turned gray, I wondered if it was a bug.

The monk strike was the best, because of that I decided to make my monks. Yes monks, I have two monks now =D.

I remembered when I was trying to ask people how I could become a crafter to make money. I actually saved every item that dropped for me. 12-15 swords or random stuff that looked pretty.

I remember laughing at myself when I saw the price of a superior vigor (50k) and superior absorption (100k+). I also was baffled when my guildies were like yay I got my 15k armor. I was like huh 15k! for armor! wow I would be rich to have 1k. Then he told me it was 15k per piece. I thought he was joking.

I still miss the old loading screen. I really miss Old Tyria. The music, kryta, ascalon, and shiverspeaks.

Many people may critize newbs, but my god it was really fun being one. The world seemed so big and everything wasn't about builds, speed, and money but just adventuring.

Every time you changed an attribute, either up or down it cost you a 'point'. When you ran out of 'points' you could'nt change any attribute anymore.

You earned more 'points' by gaining XP. I think it was 1 for every 250XP you got. I also seem to remember the maximum number of 'points' you could have was 24.

As you can imagine it led to some frustration, esp if you got stuck in an unworkable build.
