But what if you do have to go and the leaders an ass and says hey if we do a few rounds we can get her banned
The AB weekend i was making toast and forgot as the battle started . . . waiting for next battle i heard a beeping and though "hmmm smoke alarm MY TOAST" so in that round i was a "leecher" but i had a valid reason - namly throwing my toaster out the back door. Good old english rain put it out

Just accept the fact that leechers are just as big of problem in real life as in game. There is nothing you can do about. No matter what system anyone implements leechers will find a way to exploit it; afterall it's their specialty. If obtaining a title is that important to you, there is plenty of meanless farming that can be done. If you don't enjoy leeches and bots dont go to the places they frequent, they are an unavoidable plague without a cure.

I do not want to just "accept" people that leech. How about they implement something that rewards you for what you do, that way people wont be banned and leechers will get zip. And if they run bots, report them.
I really want to know if Anet still has that thought of leechers not bring a problem when there are at least 3 at any given time in a game.

Well I don't AB because getting into a group can be a hassle, but I do play at Fort Aspenwood on my mesmer. This has always been a problem and I don't think anything has ever been done about it. Usually I can deal with 1 or 2 leechers, but anything more then that I just leave. I know leaving is not a good thing to do but if close to half my team is leeching I see no need to help them out.
I wish these idiots would realize they get more faction for winning the game. Not leeching off of it. Unless they get lucky and get a good team to leech off of its gotta be slow faction gain. Has A-Net ever even said anything about this issue? If it is indeed against the rules then I would happly start reporting people.
Just gotta be careful for reasons like JeniM posted. Some people may have had to suddenly leave their computer. However if obvious if people join game after game, and continue to afk by the portal. That's a good time to report them.

make them lose something marginal like 5 faction every time they leave. It won't be a big deal if you get disconnected a few times a day, but I'd assume it would cut down on the type of people who will repeatedly leave until they end up in a "good" team and such.

1.) Leaching = Ok, people think I leach sometimes because during the first half of a game, I lag so much that I can't move. You can't report people because you THINK they are leaching. They might be lagging.
2.) Disconnects, real life stuff, if a friend/alliance mate needs your help, and there were many other things that cause a person to leave are some reason to leave. Real life is more important than Guild Wars. Unless you are ABing with people you know, help people you know > playing with strangers.
3.) You can get banned for leaving/leeching.

i believe leeching to be the biggest annoyance in GW...even more so than the trade spamming and gimmicks in HA. I want to go to AB or to fort aspenwood so i can get some faction or test a few builds.....not get pounded cause the other side has less leechers than us. ide really like a majority force boot option to kick someone in a party that is leeching/being a total ass/etc etc (one of the reasons i dont pug anymore). though it more than likely wont be implemented its better than nothing.

Well i guess the only way to do this would be to start a community wide push to get the leechers gone by reporting them all. Seriously we could have people on all forums go into Ab/jade quarry (lolz) and Ab and then maybe Random arenas... and report all the leechers and leavers. And by leavers i mean the people that purposely sabotage the other team and are idiots enough to actually say they are doing it.

I believe Gaile said that this isn't a support issue. Bottom line, Anet does not care about leechers. Basically, you'll have to learn to put up with them or simply avoid the areas they're in. Reporting them is quite useless.

Got any solid quotes of her actually saying that?

It is in a diffrent post above this on, she does not say it is "ok", but rather that true life things can happen, and that is almost impossible to catch a leecher...Me being a parent with 2 smaller kids in the house, things happen to where I may have to stop all of a sudden in what I am doing on GW and attend to their needs, it is rare as I do not really get on GW unless they are sleeping, but it does happen. I am probably not the only one, but yes leechers do ruin things for others, but you will find that in most online games you may play...it happens...

I have never once seen anyone who was leeching announce they were leeching, and I've AB'd since the Factions preview event. I think if you were to report everyone you unilaterally decide is "leeching," you're going to have to deal with the probably that 95% of them are having net issues or dealing with something in real life.
Stop trying to over-analyze AB's. When you have absolutely no control over who the other 20 players are in the game, sometimes you just lose and leechers have nothing to do with it.

Although i don't AB but i read the post where Gaile said that leeching is not against the rules and there is nothing Anet can do about it. If you do report them i am very sure that you will be wasting your time as you will get an automated response asking you to air ur problem on the many GW fansites.
So live with it.

leechers solution = give them no reward if they do nothing.
this will at least force them into using bots which is malicious and intentional and deserving of a ban. in the meantime just tell the district that so-and-so is a leech and not to group with them, dump them the next go 'round and carry on without the leecher.
as far as leavers. grow up. if you are in a random format you can't expect to get professional gamers in your group every time. and if it matters that much to you to get a full group, once someone leaves, you are free to do the same.

lmmfao...
The answer lies within the community. no false bans...no punishments...
Learn that when you have a leecher(or 2) to /resign and regroup...it's that simple.Tell the opposing team: 'Sorry...we have a leech, going to resign'
-oh yea..when back in town make it known (politely) that 'so and so is a leecher'
not that hard is it?

apart from that /resign won't work in a group with leecher.
Even if you map out the leechers will still get their points as FA's got time limit (kurz's weapon)

well there you have it then...
if, say 3 out of 4 resign(majority rules)...game over...why should 1 player have the power to hold up 3 ?
ask anet and see perhaps?
I quit a looong time ago when the land was filled with leechers.

Gaile most definitely said that "Leeching is not a support issue" and not to send in any support tickets regarding leeching.
However, since then she has also made other posts which took a more ambiguous stance on if leechers should be reported or not.
