Good Job Gaile
I was just looking at the recent update. Both of those issues (leeching and auto-targeting) were mentioned and discussed on these boards, and the majority agreed that both could use some improvements, and that's exactly what was done. That's service. I've been critical of Anet when I felt it was necessary, but I'm also grateful when they do things like this that are in touch with their customers, so thank you. And no this is not me sucking up to anyone, this is me giving praise where it's due.
Edit: And here's the reason I'm giving Gaile credit - For at least the leeching issue, she was directly corresponding with us and telling us she'd look into what could be done about it. Therefore it makes logical sense that she had something to do with it. That's why I mentioned her by name. Unless she says otherwise, that's the impression that I'm under.

Exactly, as I've said all leechers have to do is leech more to get the same title...while honest players get screwed over more because the leechers are making them lose.
It's a step in the right direction, albeit a very tiny one. Hopefully more will be done.

Well until then, we have Jade Arena, which is more effective than AB and Aspenwood now.

But Jade Arena is less fun, than AB and Aspenwood. Anyway, the recent updates seem to have been pleasing more people than usual, so thanks Anet.

No offense to Gaile, but could people please not use her name unless it actually directly has something to do with her.
Obviously mostly the case when it's something negative.
But as Gaile said several people from ANet reads the forums, Gaile is just the only one that interacts with people.
But yeah, good job Anet

Good Job Anet! This is one of the best updates as of yet, keeps all sides except the leechers happy.

Good job on reducing incentive to leech.
Bad job on the AB problem of long waits though. Since the losing team gets far less faction now, there's hardly any incentive to play on maps where you have a disadvantage. The waits at Grenz are longer than ever now. I waited 25 minutes for a game this morning when there were only one and a half districts. In ancestral lands I waited 35 minutes for a game that lasted all about 3 minutes where we won 500-76. I waited 35 minutes for that?!?!
This morning while there were 2 districts full of Kurziks in Ancestral, there were ZERO Luxon groups in their waiting area. Just half a dozen ungrouped Luxons standing around.
Anet - please please PLEASE give some incentive to play on disadvantaged maps. You solved one problem but made another one worse!

I'm not sure how the update reduced "incentive to leech." Leechers will still leech; they are doing absolutely no work! A leecher could just go to the supermarket and leech, they don't care about the reduced faction.

This may not be the perfect solution, but like someone else said, it's a start. They're showing the effort to address the concerns of the community, and I think we owe them the chance to do just that. If they were showing that they could care less, I'd be as cynical and critical as anyone. Since they're showing a serious attempt to keep in touch with the wishes of their customers, I'm willing to get behind them and offer my support, and I hope others do the same.

I think this update was great.
I also think that all ArenaNet personnel involved in the info gathering, design, programming, and testing should be extended the community's gratitude.
And Gaile deserves a vacation somewhere with sunny beaches and no GW for being the whipping boy for the fan forums.

QFT - The major problem for me before wasnt the leechers but the wait. It takes forever to get into a 5 minute match. It seems hardly worth it to wait 20+ minutes for something that has a good chance of being done in 5-10 minutes.

we play the game on a computer so, really, there is no way to stop someone from leeching.
you could require someone to play a role (cast spells) but then you can just macro keys to be pressed, you could require to play a role like running amber for example (but thats too harsh toa real player and plus it would eventually be mapped out for a macro to do it ezily).
essentially the only ways i believe you could reduce the amount of them is by 2 ways:
one, you have the ability to vote and kick someone of some way (letting a new player to join mid-game). complain if you must, it wouldn't be abused like some scaredy-cats think. Plus I'm not proposing the way to go about voting and kicking, so don't even bother me about it; it would still be up to Anet to get that decided on if it was the case.
two, allow for a quick command to "flag" the game instance you have leechers in and either allow Anet to go through them in temp banning the accounts that players literally sat and DID nothing or showed the likeness of macroing. Don't under-estimate Anet, they have AWESOME logs on this game and can really watch the game play in text data form from what you can collect on the Tornament's statistics.
Not too much to complain about if these were done, plus, no one can whine "boo hoo i had to go pee when game started". First of all, you should leave the game if you can't be there the whole time, while simutaneously Anet giving an update to allow Mid-game joins and let the game continue. Its something Anet CAN DO, because they gave us the reconnecting update. After that update the client/server KNOWS how you lost connection (willfully or by technical problems), so there is no reason why someone can't join in mid-game.
That is the answer to your dyin problem.
