Default Greatly Looking Forward To GW2

I just wanted to express how much I'm looking forward to Guild Wars 2. I know it's a ways off but based off what I've read so far it's sounding amazing!

Ultimately I see it as a refinement of the GW experience, taking that which was great in Guild Wars and merging it with elements that other games have capitalized on.
  • Amazing Graphics/Art Style. The animations and landscapes are incredible.
  • Primary/Secondary class system allow you to tailor a character to fulfill the exact role your wish. Damage, healing, support, and everything in between you can set the amount of each you want depending on your class selection.
  • Wide range of skills combined with limited skill slots make for great game mechanics and present an interesting "opportunity cost" system when choosing skills.
  • The missions. They are scripted well and are extremely immersive. Major highlight here that I haven't seen done(or done well at least...) in any other game.
  • Ultimately a combat focused game. No crafting professions or excessive roleplaying features to weigh the game down. They keep their focus on combat interactions and it shows.

Combine these amazing attributes with some of the things (I believe) the game lacks...
  • Not having Persistent explorable areas really makes the game feel somewhat barren. While the scenery is beautiful I can't help but feel it's a land uninhabited with relatively few friendlies around. Thankfully they're making the explorable areas persistent in GW2
  • Character control compared to other games feels quite sluggish. The inability to jump, roam, and simply control your character in the ways you would expect is lacking. GW2 supposedly won't make you feel your character is on an RC track :P Another welcome change.
  • Level cap. Too low. I like the idea of a much higher (if not infinite) level cap. Progression Progression Progression.

The pros far outweigh the cons, and really they're changing my only three cons. Build on the core of a very solid game some features to enhance the feel and longevity of an otherwise mechanically sound game. What more could I ask for? GW2 sounds like it's shaping up to be great. Too bad it's such a long ways off :P

Guild Wars 2 is going to be awesome I think. We finally getting our own MMO and persistent world. So many more things to do in a MMO. People should be busy playing Guild Wars 2 for quite awhile. Also we get new races and possible new classes. It should be an exciting time for people who enjoy Guild Wars.

And the best thing is that there are no monthly fees.

Me too, I am looking forward to a more WoW type game without the cartoon like graphics of WoW. I probably will stick with the human race though.

Yeah. I raid/PvP in WoW and spend my solo/small group time in GW. Speaking as a Warlock in WoW I find the class to be more DoT/Nuke focused instead of DoT/Debuff focused. GW Necro/Mesmer really let you lay down the debuffage and use DoTs to really focus on what you want

Honestly, I'm not really even playing Guild Wars at the moment.

I'm buying GWEN, of course, but I'm really just looking forward to the fresh start of Guild Wars 2.

One companion as opposed to a party of henchies/heros; join and leave as you like PvP; multiple races with unique skills:

Just a few of the things I want to try. Can't wait!

Guild Wars 2 is going to be more successful for several fundamental reasons, the main being the way they are approaching the game itself.

The idea of reinventing the game every 6 months, while appealing as a concept, is in my opinion fundamentally flawed, and doomed to failure and stagnation. (as we can see in it's current implementation.)

Guild Wars 2 addresses this problem by, as the developers say, making a story built around the game-world versus a game-world built around a story. In other words, Guild Wars 2 will be a sandbox where the developers can implement content, quests, anything into a more persistant environment that will remain fresh and exciting.

My only disppointment is that this was the approach ArenaNet should have taken with Guild Wars 1, and it's a shame that a lot of us will lose a bunch of characters we've invested quite a bit into. The Hall of Monuments or whatever it's called offsets this loss a tad, but you'll still feel the pain (those of you like me who've invested 1000+ hours)

either way I'd be lying if I said I wasn't eager for GW2. GW1 is starting to wallow in staleness, at least for me anyways.

Depends. If it's just a WoW clone, which it appears to be to me, then I wont be playing. I'd have to say that every feature they added to GW2, except persistent environments, makes me want it less. I will probably find a new game to play, but it was nice roaming Tyria

I, for one, can't wait to see how ArenaNet will handle World PvP when the majority of the playerbase hates PvP.

The whine threads will be epic.

From what I can tell, with the prospect of "alternate worlds," it might be able to accomidate a version of WoW's PvE and PvP server division system. Even so, if you could just switch freely between the types of servers, the division itself would be pointless.

I'm going to employ a wait and see approach as i have always have when it comes to GW. i made my mistake buying faction and because of that i waited to see whether nightfall was worth my hard earned money. sadly it wasn't. we'll see how GW2 goes.

Here's a random thought: How about we actually wait for it to come out before we pass judgement?

I don't want to join in with the people who do nothing but complain, I am really looking forward to a lot of things about GW2. ..However there are things about it I'm not so sure about. For one thing, I play Guild Wars because it's NOT like other MMO's, I'm not too keen on seeing it take such a dramatic change. I want to play the game with a few of my friends, not with hundreds of other people around to bother us.

No matter what, I'm going to give the game a chance, but like so many others have said, I'm not interested in another WoW clone, I hope to see the GW formula stick, but the more I read about it, the more unlikely that seems. I do have faith in the developers though, and I'm sure they know what they're doing. If nothing else, I'm really looking forward to playing as the Charr and seeing what's happened in Tyria in the hundreds of years we've been away.

Guild Wars 2 is gonna be awesome. I just can't wait... It sounds like it's gonna be just as ground-breaking as Guild Wars was. I'm just so certain the whole game will feel like a breath of fresh air. It's definately NOT going to be a WoW-ripoff... whoever thinks it will be is just... silly.
