The Lag Poll (as of Tuesday, 10 July)
Hello,
As you know, there have been some latency or lag issues for players playing in or through the Frankfurt Data Center in Germany. This is not exclusively a Guild Wars issue, but the issue is affecting Guild Wars, with our regrets.
The Network Teams have asked that I conduct encourage everyone to submit support tickets and include tracerts and the -diag file mentioned here. They are particularly seeking tickets with information gathered over the last 48 hours only. They would like to know the following:
After maintenance efforts this weekend, has the lag gotten better for you? Is it worse? About the same? Please answer the poll with the most fitting response based on experiences from Monday forward. (Do not include past experiences or those from the weekend, as the maintenance had not yet been performed.) This poll is intended for those playing on, or through, the German Data Center only.
Thanks so much. Comments are more than welcome!

Does "diminished" mean "got worse"? If so, then yes!
Edit: Wow, you actually replaced "diminished" with "got better"...

No, it means that the lag has improved, that the frequency or the intensity of lag has gotten better (diminished = reduced = better connectivity).
Thanks for asking -- I've modified my wording to make it more clear.

Maybe. I'm going to take it seriously, though, 'cause I want to make extra sure I get good clear answers for the network teams.

I see. My frequency or intensity of connectivity has diminished, then.

THe main problem I am experiencing is less a latency issue, and more I keep freezing for 2-10 second interval issue. It was not a problem before this weekend. High ping is easy to deal with as long as you dont continually freeze.
Since monday however, it has cleared up a lot. However I still experience freezes, though not nearly as bad as I did this weekend.

Kyp -- I'd call what you were experiencing (and it's good to know it's better) a result or symptom of lag. I mean, if there is latency between the server and you, you can do all sorts of odd things, like rubberbanding, pausing, and so forth.

I never rubberbanded once in Guild Wars till about a month ago, now I get it all the time... huge rubberbands too, like across the entire area...

I'd like to point out to Galie that this poll (while a good idea which I aplaud) PROBABLLY won't get accurate results as many people who don't play on the german data center might not read your post and just vote (since lag has become more of an issue for everyone in the game reccently). Also, as prism said, most people don't know which data center they use/how many a.net has, so maybe some clearly explination on that would be a good idea.

I really had extreme lag issues during the dragon festival, 10-20k ping in english districts and 1-5k ping in international and numerous error 7's, especially when changing towns and districts.
After the dragon festival it got better, but I still have 500-1000 latency and occasional spikes that freeze the game and make enemies hop over the screen.

I don't count for the poll, but the US is also having some lag issues. I got hit hard at the start of the event, and it still hasn't gone away.

I'm in Ireland playing, so i don't count in the poll, but I haven't experienced any lag during the dragon festival, my ping went up from around 200 to around 700 (still at around 700) but it hasn't caused any noticable lag, and no errors or freezes, and I was generally in the packed european english districts during the festival. I know many people in my guild couldn't enter any districts in Shing Jea though, or they would get an error or freeze, and they were noticably more laggy when in any towns during the festival, but they have said that it has gotten better since the festival ended.

I play in the english districts, yet i'm experiencing lag as well, so have a few of my guild mates. Its around the same as of the last few days, no noticable improvements.

I've been having lag problems, but then, my CPU just melted and fried my motherboard in the process, so I'm not particulary reliable.

Malta is by comparison to other countries minuscule so I'm sure we don't have one locally. Perhaps we use the Italian one as that's the nearest EU country.

How do you tell whether you are routed via the German Data Centre?

I'm playing from Germany, and for me the lags are gone since ~2 hours.
In the last week I had lags of up to 120 seconds and freezes every 20 seconds,
but now everything is back to normal, meaning: green dot with pings below 100 ms (sometimes 200ms) and no more freezes or Error 07 all the time
