Running (as a Business)
(I apologize beforehand if this is in the wrong section, it seemed the only logical spot for me to post it.)
I'm sure you've all seen people advertising to run characters through a mission, difficult area, etc. Heck, some of you may be runners. I, for one, see running as a business. (Busi·ness: a person, partnership, or corporation engaged in commerce, manufacturing, or a service; profit-seeking enterprise or concern.) And in the modern world, businesses are held accountable for what they do, and for ensuring the quality of what they provide. I'm sure I've lost you now, let me elaborate.
I've been struggling with the Ruins of Morah mission for days now. It's honestly had me stumped. I've tried just about every thing I could think of to beat it, but nothing worked, so I finally sucked up my pride and prepared three platinum so that I may be ran through the mission, and since I didn't want to repeat it, I certainly wanted to make sure I got the Master's rank. That's not much to ask, correct? Considering I have a meager seven platinum in my bank, this was a rather large hit to my wallet, but I just had to get past this mission.
Anyway. I sit in American 1 for a bit until I finally see someone spamming runs! I was a bit discouraged that it was three platinum a run, but I expected that, so I joined this person's group. Long story short, it was another low HP monk with a pair of necro heroes using SS/SV. No surprise there. I made sure to ask before the mission started if this was a master's run or just a normal run. The monk replied with a "both" and I left it at that. Now, I had no intention of spending my hard earned money on just a normal run, as that seemed wasteful, as there are runners on in the daytime that guarantee master's, and I had taken this monk's "both" as an agreement that master's would be obtained.
However, he finished fifteen seconds late, which was only enough for expert's. At first I refused to pay him, just because he called in two other people and started bullying me the second we got out and I disputed it, however, I paid him half of the money for the run, as I thought that was fair. Half of the money for half of the requirements met. If I went to a restaurant and ordered dinner and dessert, but only received dinner, would I still pay for the dessert? Of course not. That's basically what it boils down to, and now I've got this monk bullying me, as well as a pair of his friends, every time I log in. I plan on adding them all to ignore as soon as I finish typing this and sending him the URL, as he told me to post proof.
Either way, I don't see myself in the wrong here. If a "business" says something will be done, they should be held accountable for that. You're more than welcome to post your input here; I'm sure I seem like a bad guy for ripping a monk off apparently, but I see myself in the right.
Screenshot removed.
As you can see, he replied "both" to my question.
Screenshot removed.
Him, confirming what was just said.
Screenshot removed.
Our rewards for the mission, clearly not accomplishing Master's.
Screenshot removed.
Threatening me with a ban list, claiming to never have agreed to Master's, and telling me to post the proof on a forum.
Now, I'm well aware not every runner is like this. In my experience, most have been extremely nice and professional, most offering discounts if they fail, or even free runs through once again. It was in no way my fault that he failed to meet the conditions that were agreed upon before the mission started, thus, I do not see myself responsible for full payment. Thanks for the read, and again, I apologize if this in the wrong forum.

Two things,
Your gonna get in alot of trouble for posting the names. I don't think he gave u permission to slander his name. These forums don't allow names to be posted. I know he said add it to a forum but I don't think your covered by posting his name.
And also its a catch 22, because u can be reported for failing to pay the agreed price, and u can also report him.
But I can understand some runs are slower then others due to mobs. But agreeing upon a price is different. Thats why when I run I make sure its clear and never make masters promises. In all likely hood, you aren't going to solve anything by reporting him. And he is unlikely to do anything, posting it on the forums is just banging your head aganist a wall IMO.
Also how about a title change, has little to do with running as a business, and more so about a dispute between yourself and the other player.

You won't get ban for this and he did say "both". Anet won't care about in-game running "business" anyway. But Ruins of Morah run? Shame on you, what'll you do at Gate of Madness?

i can see how both parties can be right here, but i think the fact that the runner agreed to do the master's reward makes you in the right.
a fair agreement would have been the runner taking you through the mission again, and getting the master's reward. then you pay.
they were obviously capable of completing master's, and you obviously had the money to pay them appropriately. sometimes you're just :15 off

You did as you should have done and yes i suggest adding them to ignore, from what you told and the screens it looks like you were nice and everything.
Ow btw about the "banlist" it probably just is something he and his friends share about who scammed then and stuff, nothing to be worried about as Anet wont do anything to you,you also sound like someone that doesn't just take runs to get there faster so it wont affect you any.
It seems as if you didn't screen the part about him and a friend bullying you, or maybe you just thought it didn't matter in this post, but if what you said about him and friends bullying you as soon as you got out of the mission, I personally at that moment would have decided not to pay at all.

He said "add it to a forum" and that implies consent.

It's easier for me to quote this section of the rules rather than retype it. If you feel you were wronged, please contact www.guildwars.com/support . The other party involved of course can do the same, and only ArenaNet can actually see what transpired in game.
As an additional note, it is never ok to post screenshots with people's names without their permission. In this case you would have needed to black out the other user's names in any conversation. Pictures removed.
Quote:
Guild Wars Guru and the Mention of Scammers
Yes, we hate scammers just as much as you.
So why don't we let people "announce" scammers, why don't we keep running lists? Because we have no way of proving if that's what truly has happened. You can present us with all the screenshots, videos and more in the world and still it doesn't prove anything. Screenshots and videos can be edited, can be changed. Snippets of conversation can be cut out. We've seen some convincing stories in our time only to find out that things were not as they seemed. Or, that the person was set up.
Guild Wars Guru is NOT responsible for what goes on in game. We can not verify what goes on ingame, we can not get the full story, we can not know if someone is manipulating a story since we weren't there.
If it's truly a case of someone being scammed and you have proof, bring this to Arenanet. We can't make decisions for arenanet, we can't tell if this was legit or if you just need to watch yourselves better and be more cautious. If it's truly as outrageous and serious as you mention, then let Arenanet take care of their own game and their own people within that game.
We hope you can all understand the position we have to take on this. Screenshots and Videos are not an evidence. The proof is only available on the side of the Arenanet servers. As we said above, we've seen some good honest people set up, we've seen some great photoshop work in our time, and we've seen people deliberately edit out snippets of conversation before. We am only responsible for what happens on these forums. We are not responsible for what happens in game or the situations that people put themselves in.
If You Have Been Scammed:
1. Report it at http://support.guildwars.com/.
