Bonus Mission Pack Availability
Hello,
We've received some questions about the availability of the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack. While we know that the Guild Wars Official (in-game) Store and the PlayNC system are connected, in fact this promotion is only available via purchases made in the in-game store. Her eis some important information for you:
- If you are interested in participating in the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack promotion, you should acquire at least $29 in purchases in the Guild Wars Official Store (in-game store) through October 31st.
- Access to the Bonus Mission will automatically be granted to your account when the missions become available in November.
- Purchases in the in-game store can be made at different times. As long as you spend $29 or more between July 5 and October 31, 2007, you will qualify for the bonus.
- You will be able to acquire the full access key set for the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack and/or GW:EN itself through the in-game store.
- The purchase price of the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack will be applied to the cost of GW:EN itself through the in-game store.
- We are currently investigating additional methods of payment for the in-game store.
Please let me know if you have other questions and we will post answers as they become available.

Thank you for the clarification on being able to spread the 29$ amount over multiple purchases.
I'd like to use my debet card (bank account) as payment method though, as I don't have a creditcard and do not want to use paypal or other online brokers.
Either that or being able to buy cards in the real shops that I can redeem in the online store, so I can pay with my debet card in the shop.

I wrote to our billing team and they tell me that prepaid credit cards are accepted in the system. There was some confusion earlier, but they do say that such cards--as well as things such as the Visa Gift Card--would be accepted.

Err, how do you mean, prepaid credit cards?
I was thinking of something like the "X-day prepaid gamecard" which games with monthly fees usually sell in the netherlands because dutch people do not have creditcards very often, but then specifically for guild wars.
Like these things...

Also, generally debit cards can be treated as credit cards by stores who cannot use the debit feature. It will not be instantly billed to your account, as with debit, but will treat it as credit and deduct it automatically from your account. I have made online purchases with my Check card at the GW store that have worked, so you may not need the prepaid credit card. I'm not certain, but I think you will be ok just inputting your debit as though it were a credit.

You will be able to acquire the full access key set for the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack and/or GW:EN itself through the in-game store.
Is this a package deal? Get GW:EN and the pre-release pack for one price, two keys? (And by default the bonus missions...)
When will the keys be available for purchase?

No package deals, they are separate purchases. But purchase price of the GW:EN Prerelease Bonus Pack will be applied to your purchase of the full version of GW:EN.
I will check on availability dates for the keys.

Thank you Gaile. That begs one final question from me... does the purchase of the pre-order come off of the purchase price of GW:EN, or is it an additional charge.
I'm just asking for clarities sake.

This should be stickied, as I suspect there will be lots of questions about the Bonus Pack and purchasing GWEN online...

so just to stand clear. Buying the gw:en prerelease bonus pack on july 20th (that's the date right?) and gw:en itself whenever is available -both from the online store-, i would be granted for free the access to the bonus mission pack in november upon release?
oh and buying the gw:en prerelease bonus pack i'm allowed to play the sneak peak weekend 26-28 august?
sounds easy

Since you only need to spend $29 to get access to the Bonus Mission Pack; yes. Just buying GW:EN itself ($39.99) will easily get you above the minimum amount.
Gaile: I noticed you called it the Guild Wars: Eye of the North Bonus Mission Pack. Just to clarify, do you need to own Eye of the North to access the Bonus Missions, or will it be available to anyone who owns a Chapter of Guild Wars (and spent at least $29 at the Guild Wars Online Store)?

Are you researching this for the GWEN release or just in general? When can we expect an answer on this?
The reason I'm asking this is because I've seen this mentioned before (I was searching for paypal options in December 2006), but I'd like to know before I buy GWEN or it's pre-purchase package in a store.

Hello Stormcloud,
Thank you for contacting the Guild Wars Support Team!
I would like to inform you that you are not able to use any pre-paid credit cards to purchase an online access key. You need to use any one of these credit cards to purchase an online access key. Below are the mention credit cards which you can use:
American Express®
American Express Corporate
Discover® Card
JCB®
Visa®
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask us.
Regards,
Guild Wars Account Support
So i can completely disreguard this response from support?

I managed to borrow a credit card off a family member and got three new character slots on my account, however when i tried to do the same for my wife's account it refused to allow it, stating that the use was fraudulent,
any clue as to why this is and how long it will be active for?

Gaile, I have a question...
If profit is the issue, as in they want more money by going directly, why not just alternatively release a Guild Wars Eye of the North Deluxe Addition for $50 (as opposed to the $40 it would normally cost) which includes a key to access the bonus missions? This would probably help make up for the "middle man" cost, and as players can get the expansion free from the GW store with purchase, plenty would do so. All 3 parties, the people who want to use the store, the people who want to go to a store, and Anet are happy. Of course, it is probably a little late to start something like that, but just an idea.

I've purchased 3 characters slots this way. So I'm sure you can use debit cards. Unless something has changed recently.

Gaile,
Are there any plans of making additional products available in the online store between now and October 31st?
I ask this because, currently, many of us who are extremely interested in spending $30 in the online store have nothing to purchase (we insist on receiving a box with our GW:EN purchase). Thanks.
