that's not really true but that has to be the best post i've read in a long time...at least the most fun i've had reading a post in a long time.

i don't remember exactly what mine was but i was trying to tie those bastards down to actually naming a boss rodgort because i like the trogdor reference. i think it was like...'rodgort the incinerator' or something.

Molotov Rocktail made me laugh, Felix the Charr, not so much.

Btw how much harder is it to change one letter as well as change "Cat" to "Charr". Why not name one Scooby Don't next? Or Heath Mountain, refering to Heathcliff. Or Gar Field. Or get the Trekkies in and name one Khan Wrath. Then we can get Star Wars in and have one named Jabba The What, or Only One for Obi-Wan, or Yo Da Asura for Yoda (he can drop a lightsaber! zomg!). The possibilities are endless...

There are already several references to Trogdor with the spells Mark of Rodgort, and Rodgort's Invocation, and supposedly there was a trainer named Rodgort but was removed....

Well, my boss made the finalists so I'm not really gonna complain about the ones that won it. A-net seems to have a preference for 'funny' names though. And teh funneh is in the eye of the beholder so not arguments there.

I just hope they don't put all those top 10 names in the game because this is supposed to be an RPG (Role-Playing). And when you're supposed to be fighting some great evil that's gonna destroy all life there shouldn't be alot of bosses with funny names running around, kinda breaks the role-play element.

My boss' name was Ulver Soulshriek btw.

doctors (and therefore also scientists) often get educated in a way so that they loose all creativity if they had any. They are too afraid it will take away reproducibility or they don't know how it will affect the outcome of experiments . They are not willing to try, as they are learned to stick with protocols. Good scientists/doctors (IMO), however, don't give a damn about it and are always on the edge of making something faster, better, or more original.

We'll never know the true names of the bosses we beat, we will always have to be satisfied with the nick they get due their in game activities

Fenrir Greyback, you mean? I guess it does sound kinda similar, but I got my inspiration from something else.

Glad you liked the name! ^_^

Does anyone know what the miniature is going to be?

I was very hopeful that my entry had a chance of at least an honourable mention this time.. but clearly not LOL.

My try was:

Scorner MacBones

It's an anagram of Necromancer Boss.

Oh well, never mind.

Congratulations to all the winners.

This, to me, almost looks like a random drawing. Some of the names are great, others...not so much. They had me scratching my head thinking, "this is the best they could get out of 7500 entries?"

Of course, this is ultimately Anet's decision and their choice.

lol..u r right....great marketing move from Anet... ignore most countries and praise US "creativity"...
I assume that at least 50% of gw sales come from US market otherwise it's not good to piss off participants from other countries that don't have even 1 entry in finalists list...

Hey, aren't you in my Conspiracy Theories and Clandestine Politics group?

Honestly though, Felix the Charr and Molotov Rocktail? Where's the wit and subtlety?

More important and more interesting is, where is that:

"Originality: Entries must be the creation of the contestant and cannot be taken from any other source. I'm still waiting for Gaile to come and post in this thread that they screwed up the list of finalists and that they need to put up the real list.

Congrats to the winner.

By my count 1 of 10, 6 of 20 and, 17 of 100 of the names for the winners/HM/finalists chosen had an N or later letter. I heard about a study recently where names that come in the first half of the alphabet tend to do better and this seems to correlate with that. Now I ask why.

Did the names that are N or later truely stink in general?
Were there fewer names that had an N or higher?
Or as I'm guessing, where the submitted names alphabetized such that by the time people got past M, they didn't have many votes left to cast?
