Default How long does it take?!?!?

ok, How long does it take for my Chests to reset,.

It has been four months for my main(Ranger), and I have only opened them once.
All my other characters can open them now, and last month, but I have been trying to wait so I can open with all three of my characters.

this is getting so very frustrating. My main should be able to open 12(but finds them all empty), my Rit can open 10 and my warrior can open 10,. I have waited, and have been missing out on purpose ( silly me eh? ) so that I can open them on each character all at once,. also trying to wait a bit longer as to not get half of them grape as I did last time on my Rit,.

Why can one Character not open them, but all the others can,. I am pulling my hair out in frustration!!!.

Because Anet likes to jerk people around?

*shrug* Seriously though, who really knows besides them? The formula's a secret they aren't going to divulge anytime soon. People are trying to figure it out, but while having some good theories and ideas they probably aren't even close to getting it right yet.

It's one month since you last tried to open it. So if you keep checking regularly, you keep resetting the month timer.

One would hope so. But, no, that's not correct. I waited about a month and a half on my main character after opening chests for the second time and got squat. I went back to my other characters and every one of them got treasures to open (second time ons a couple,. third time on others).

That can't be so, I check the easiest one to get to in the lowbie area with my Rit first on the one month mark, actually I have been testing 5 weeks,. and it has been 4 months of empty now for my Ranger,. so I got one crap gold and a headache.

Its totally jacked up,.

The formula for the chests resetting is somewhere close to the same building where the Caramilk secret is held.
This is all I'm courageous enough to speak of right now.

Yes,. and your Avatar expresses my exact feelings at the moment.

It just doesn't seem to make sense, that the character I enjoy playing the most, gets PUNISHED, by not being allowed to open chests that my younger(still L20) characters are able to open on a monthly basis,.

IT SUCKS!!!!

From what i have non-scientifically tested its
1 month and 1 day as long as that character has played more then 40 hrs that month
if not its 1 month and tendays
or if the character remains unplayed its 1.7 months

i base this on completely nothing

I have a question!
Has your main character made a lot of money and drops?
Maybe the less you make with a character, the faster the chests reset?

I don't usually get many gold drops or much coin drops,. the chests were my "Oh Goodie" moment after the first time on my Ranger it has turned into an "Oh Crap" moment each month.

The Rit and Warrior have opened each 10 chest the first two months after I found out about them and the drops were ok had a couple of keepers a couple of good mods, and everything else went straight to the Merch.

I have since been wanting to get all three on the same schedule, and have not tried to check the chest for goodies for the last two months, except for testing the one in Mehtani Keys. I broke down today.

Ranger : this chest is empty
Rit: R10 max gold suntouched scythe of crap
War: r13 smiting rod of crap

Stopped there and shook my head, then let out a ear piercing cry of frustration.
The lady downstairs told me she is going to call the police if I scare her like that again,

Ya.. I know for a fact that it is not this 1 month stuff I hear about. Seeing as how it's been two months for my warrior and I still can't get new stuff. It's still empty.

I'm hoping trying to open it while its empty doesnt reset the timer...

MOST people are on the 1month +x days cycle, but there are a few unfortunates who seem to be borked. You could submit a support ticket if it gets to you so badly...

It's different per character, though no one knows how it works. My Ranger and Monk have gone around 3 months without the chests resetting. My warriors has reset after around 2 1/2, my Assassin and Elementalists have reset twice in that time.

Last time they got all a rest within 33 days in my case, independent of playing time, as I didnt use quite some of my characters. Before it didn't appear to reset on my monk, after a while it resetted at the (30+xtimes openings) days rule. I take in a few days extra, and jot down dates carefully.

All of mine have reset every month except two; the only two that have completed the game (which I think we discounted as a factor as others have been able to). The downer on that is that I can't go get all the ones right at the end again.

Theory:
you need a toon to wait the time of a full month (30*24hours) of not playing without trying to open the treasure.

this would mean that an unplayed toon will get a reset after a month, but if you play your toon 8 hours a day, it would take a month and a half. if you stayed afk gambling for three days, it would delay the reset in three days.

it could also have a penalty, as in, if you played x hours, you need to wait a month plus 2*x hours...

Nope. On my Assassin, Elementalist and Warrior I checked regularly (weekly usually) and they still reset quickly.

I can debunk every theory made by people here. Some characters can open the chests, some can't, some have been played more, some less. Some are Tyrian, some Elonian... my only conclusion now is that the whole process is TOTALLY RANDOM.
