Also, do bear in mind that that's the temperature of the air. As the air is used to cool the components, when the air gets hot, the cooling systems lose efficiency.

Take a simple comparison by measuring the following temperatures in your own case:
-the CPU/GPU temperature
-the air temperature within the computer case
-the air temperature of the room in which the computer is

The cited temperature was the equivalent of the "room temperature" - imagine what happened to the core temperatures...

We had a crisis in our server room...

We're a digital post production facility on a studio lot (in LA). There was a power surge here one weekend, and it knocked out one of our HVAC units (in our facility). Guys were scrambling to open doors and windows and bring in fans and power down all the equipment in the server and tape rooms (which they strive to keep at 60˚F) because within 5-10 mins those rooms would reach 100˚F at which point our very expensive equipment would fry.

After that incident, the studio was 'motivated' to supply us with our own backup system.

I can imagine that the engineers in the Data Center GW uses here in LA were doing a similar scramble. It can be very intense.

Btw... fyi... there was a 4.5 magnitude quake here this morning at 12:58am... epicenter in Granada Hills (very near the epicenter of the Northridge Quake).
