Well.....

A friend of mine went online to buy gold after i told him not to....cause of this account checking crap goin on right now. He paid 12.99 for 100k+ a .txt doc on how to run bots and dups, and dont you know the AoT dup was in thr and the txt said it works for any item, it also came with .exe for bot running and a guid on how to run more than 1 copy of GW on same PC for duping items. He read most of it to over TS and i was like WTF!!......

Very true. I know this to be so, why? Because:-

a) I have only ever seen an armbrace of truth in the screen shots on this thread, and on guildwiki.

b) I haven't even reached DoA yet.

c) I haven't been in old Ascalon for ages as I have been working my way through Factions (had just beaten Shiro with some guild mates before the ban).

d) I haven't had any involvement in duplicating ANY items, or in fact any 'abuse of in game exploits', and wasn't even aware that there were any.

e) My account has been permanently banned.

So yes, innocents have been effected by this, I know as I really am one of them. I am not even going to comment about one of the members of my guild who also got banned, it's up to him to sort this out for himself.

Oh, and yes I have contacted support, twice so far yesterday, and not even a whisper from them.

As to Gaile's assertion that those who have been banned had had their accounts investigated thoroughly, I would dispute this. I have never even purchased a single Armbrace of Truth, I couldn't afford one if I wanted to considering I have about 4k on my entire account.

At face value, possibly. 50 ecto is about 250000 gold. A reasonable price, I think I've seen some armbraces at that price in the auction section of this site. The banned buyer could have been in good faith, as 6 bracers are not beyond the possible.

However, the whole construction can fall down the second we consider the possibility of what the seller may have advertised. If you see a guy advertising "selling armbraces @ 50ecto, 56 left!" you know something fishy must be going on.

Yeh, I know that guy was rich, he was selling 20, I thougt he just wanted quick cash.

He wanted 70e, I offered him 50ea for 6, he accepted..

And I really really really wanna play GW again, I love it. If needed I can even pay 6x50 + 110e [profit] = 410e..

things i liked: good work on banning ppl that really duped armbraces, they
deserved it

and fairly explianed what caused the "mass ban".

thing i didnt liked: saw ppl saying omg he has so much money, ban him!! look ecto stacks! look so many armbraces! ban him quick! this is just wrong.... i ve been trading since i played this game, and i can say that me and few other friends are quite popular in high ended trade area. if u dont have any idea of a mini panda and a mini kanaxia worth, and how HARD u can find a seller willing to sell, plz dont harsh ppl from no where. as many u can see the pic i posted in Max's thread, 143 armbrace, 134 from guilde 9 from myself,real ones that in an inventory, wud u think bout it? me dupe em? me stupid enough to put a pic in pobulic saying hey! i dupe armbraces!If u think that way, u are totally wrong. i ve met Max in ascalon id 1, and we've talked long time, and i acturally was the 1st person who posted a thread talk bout the armbrace dupe case( srry max:P i beat u bout 11 mins i think

Personally, I think persons who dealt with these Armbraces deserve a ban. ID's are being spammed with "WTB DUPED Armbraces". Aren't you quite aware of what you're actually putting yourself into?
I would love if A Net could run an SQL and basically ban everyone with more than 300 Armbraces. Having so many is simply not casual.
But as much as I'd like to defend the ones that sold their rare loot to those dupers, I think they should blame theirselves. By accepting ridicilous high offers, in my eyes, they broke the rules. Isn't it in the rules that if you're aware of an exploit, you shouldn't use it, but instead report it? I believe so.

People might start going off saying "but we did not know for sure these guys were dupers, i thought it was simply a good offer!". Well, if you do not know how to draw coclusions and think that someone offering hundreds of Armbraces for your loot that is worth 1/5 of that, you obviously need to learn what's going on.

So IMO, I don't bother about these perma bans that guys have gotten from touching these duped Armbraces. If you have common sense you stay away from dealing with Armbraces and such until this is solves.

I didnt dupe, but I still got banned

And, I also got all my ecto + stuff with trading, no ebaying or hax.

Wow - if there ever was a thread to turn you off going to Kaineng, Lion's Arch, Ascalon, Gate of Anguish, or Kamadan then this is it. Other than passing through when changing continents I'll not be staying long in fear of an "accidental" ban...
