Kind of a Big Thread
Ladies and Gentlemen! Noobs and Noobettes! Gather together and boast of your titles and what it took to get there!
Let it be known to all the world that my mesmer is now officially Kind of a Big Deal!
Actually... this is meant to be more of an opinion thread than flat out boasting, but boasting can come into play. For example, the titles I got to achieve KoaBD are:
Sunspear
Elonian Protector
Elonian Vanquisher
Elonian Grandmaster Cartographer
Elonian Skill Hunter
... which I think makes up a pretty good base for KoaBD. But then I got to wondering... does KoaBD really mean anything anymore? With 'lesser' titles, such as drunkard, sweet tooth, LDoA, etc. (again, purely personal opinion on those being 'lesser' titles), what do people think about KoaBD... is it even noticed or is it like the common ant that barely sparks a neuron while you step the life out of it and pass on? Where, to you, do the "Big Deal" titles earn respect, or is the make-up of those titles more important?
With all the armbrace/banning/etc. stuff of recent history, this seems like a good diversionary thread to refocus on the game itself. So please feel free to share some thoughts and don't be afraid to boast a little!
... File this in the "Needs to Pay More Attention" bucket... I also notices last night that I'm sitting on 996 Gamer points.

Some of the people in my guild are on level3 of that, which is quite impressive I guess. As for me, titles are not my thing.

I know this is not a common view among e-peening gamers, but respect is deserved, it's not earned. Everyone deserves respect, whatever titles they may or may not have. Don't let the whole Tiger-emote culture get to you.
With regards to titles, they all take time, the easiest to get (especially if you have a healthy guild/list of friends) are survivor, the sunspear/lightbringer titles and the protector titles. The others require lots of money, time or both.
If I see someone in town with KoaBD I make no immediate judgement, they can be attention-hungry elitists, avid GW junkies, in good guilds that help them get titles fast or simply people who like to have something to work on as they play the game. It's up to them to demonstrate which kind of person they are.
Finally, titles do not necessarily indicate skill... I have seen people with 15 titles with half the skill of people with 5 titles. Much of gaining titles is having others to help you work through them quickly.

First of all, congratulations on KoaBD!
I got my KoaBD about a week or two ago:
Canthan Skill Hunter
Canthan Protector
Canthan GMC
Elonian Skill Hunter
Elonian GMC
I should get Sunspear and Elonian Protector before EotN is released. Hopefully I will be able to put some work into LB as well. With those three, plus Tyrian SkillHunter (therefore legendary), I will make rank 2 before Christmas(?)!
Personally, I am very proud of my KoaBD because it took me so long and I don't get to play that much. But I think KoaBD has lost a little bit of value due to the "Legendary" titles. Don't get me wrong, I think those are great and I can't wait to start getting those. But I do think you have to be rank 2 on the max title track before people start noticing. I remember back in the day (pre-Factions) when you freaked if you saw a KoaBD. Now I have mine, and no one has said a word except for a buddy that helped me work on it and another that I skill capped with.
I will still consider you a Big Deal! I know that some of us still "work" for it!

Choosing to work on my sweet tooth title is possibly the worst thing I ever did. But now I'm half way through to the max I can't stop.

It took me forever to get my Koabd on my wammo. Mainly I'm a many char player kind of guy, instead of only have 1.
Kind of a big deal doesn't say much any more these days though :/, it only says that you have a lot of play hours on that particular char.
Nowadays I don't show my koabd much because I have Legendary Cartographer which packs a bigger punch ^^(4 carto titles + 3 protector titles). I'm close to get koabd on 2 other chars too though

That's another thing I've noticed with Titles... I tend to focus on one character now instead of spreading the love amongst them all. Side effect of the title system and GW:ENs Hall of Monuments. I know now (pretty sure at least) that the HoM is account-based, but before knowing that I put my focus onto one main character to build the achievements up on to pass into GW2. Anyone else notice this trend in themselves?

Even If I ever get the Kind title I'll never show it. It just doesn't do anything for me.
Golden FTW!
Although I'd KILL to have Connoisseur of Confectionaries!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD!
Gratz on your title though!

The thing you can tell about people who go after titles is that they're goal oriented, and that's a good thing.
Gratz MSecorsky... I was just wondering what you do in rl. Are you a writer? If you're a student, I hope you're focusing on your writing skills... you've got talent.
Karlos, you said, "respect is deserved, it's not earned" I love that. I've got "Respect" quotes on my bulletin board at work because there are a handful of people here (at work) who don't quite have a handle on the concept, and I like to put the thought out there for them... at least where their interaction with me is concerned. My favorite is by Einstein... "Everyone should be respected as an individual, but no one idolized." That's just what you said... basically.
I like to go after titles but not because I'm trying to earn respect. Respect starts with the self. I've got it. I like to achieve goals. I've got 12 titles right now and am close to Legendary Spearmarshall and a couple others. It'll take me forever because I'm not that keen on vanquishing (grinding) or repeating missions.
Gratz Mohnzh! feels good eh?
Lucifer UK... call me crazy, but I really enjoy seeing the sweet tooth and drunkard titles on people. Makes me laugh. I just don't want to spend that kind of money myself, or I'd probably go for it myself.
Gratz Mr Groovy... funny but I like showing my Legendary Cartographer better than my People Know Me title as well.
Julien = 25 titles... WOW! That's great.
upier... hope you're in a profession (or headed toward one) where you can use your ability to express yourself colorfully as well.
Molock, GRATZ!
And gratz to everyone else who posts after this who's gotten what they've gone after in the game.

I just hit "People Know Me" last night!
Legendary Skill Hunter
Tyrian Skill Hunter
Canthan Skill Hunter
Elona Skill Hunter
Legendary Spearmarshal
Holy Lightbringer
Protector of Tyria
Protector of Cantha
Protector of Elona
Elonian Grandmaster Cartographer
w00t!
I hope to have all the Cartographer titles finished in the next few weeks. Less than 10% left in Tyria and Cantha. Im hoping to get "I'm very improtant" title sometime in the next few months.

I'm trying to tie up a few lose ends on titles.
Hit KoaBD about 10 days ago:
Protector of Tyria
Protector of Cantha
Protector of Elona
Elonian Skill Hunter
Tyrian Skill Hunter
I have 7 caps left in Cantha, which would give me Canthan and Legendary Skill hunters.
Edit: I'm doing this on a Paragon.

That's how I got mine. I was going for Cantha explorer, and at 93.2%, it was just too tedious. I might do Elona as I've heard it's not as demanding. Only 10k away from maxing LB.
Maxing titles is still a big thing in my guild. As far as I know, I'm the first to get it (my guild leader didn't even know what the title was for), and a guildie was even boasting about it when I told him (quite embarrassing). It's kind of disheartening being with people who don't know so much about the game, but they don't take it too seriously either, which makes for a great atmosphere I can play in.

My necro is 5 Canthan HM missions away from KoaBD. Not bad since I've only been playing since November and I did it without getting a multi-title.
But in my honest opinion, I am much prouder of my PvP titles and my Legendary Survivor as those titles were more difficult to get and they show skill as well as the ability to title grind.
