If there's a way to tell the difference, can you let me know? I don't remember duplicated items being advertised as such, even in trade. I may be wrong. Maybe you can choke up a few screenshots and prove me wrong. You know, just saying. I'd rather be safe than sorry and you seem to know something I don't.

The point is, you have no way of knowing whether something is duped or not. Who wants to go through the entire hassle of getting unbanned because you buy something you didn't know was duped?
Personally I'm buying from merchants only. We had the custom in our guild and among our friends of giving materials and other items for free. Now it seems very risky to continue that generosity.
Whether it is a big risk or not, there is the perception of risk.

Then I highly suggest many here do not play the game - if you are *that* afraid of a ban anything you do may get one. In fact, doing nothing may result in one as accidents do occur.
There is a point where legitimate concerns go into paranoia. There is nothing anyone anywhere can offer most still wondering as re-assurance simply because it has wondered into paranoia (and no matter how paranoid someone is they always think it is legitimate).
we have the official word, you can believe it or not. If not then quit asking for it as you are going to go with whatever it is you want to believe anyway (as that is the only thing you will believe anyway).
One of my all time favorite sayings "You can not reason someone out of an idea they did not use reason to come up with" and it holds 100% true here. *sigh* but one can always hope that they will learn to critically think for just one moment in time.

so if my guild member offers me a rare item for cheap price significaly cheap price i will be a suspect?
For example a bone dragon for 20K?
will this be suspicious even if the trade is pure with nothing else involved?

Now, if someone sidles up to you in a dark alleyway and offers you an armbrace for the bargain basement price of 44 gold pieces, you might way to run in the opposite direction.

The real question here is EXACTLY how do we draw the line in a trade?
Are we to refuse a good deal in fear of being banned?
What about giving and receiving free items? I usually give noobie players gold and some green weapons that I have extra of just to be nice, do I have to stop being nice? Can I still give away items? Should I be paranoid if someone wants to be nice and give me something? This whole situation really smells bad, its bad for the game and its very bad for the community! If the dupers have been shut down why can't the game ever return to normal again? Why do we all have to play and trade in fear of a ban? If the dupers have been caught and shut down and I accept a valuable item for free or a very low price, why must I fear having my account banned? No one ever worried about it before and items were freely given away in game. Apparently now Anet says that it is no longer ok to do so and everyone now has to fear their account being banned for accepting or offering an item at a very low price, or, god forbid, free??? This is very frightening, and, I don't think its fair for Anet to dictate to us what we should sell or buy an item for. This is the beginning of the end as far as I am concerned.

Yes, exactly!
People are not still getting banned, and there is very little to worry about in normal day-to-day business, even that involving a high-value item. We can tell if someone duped. We can tell if someone accepted duped items. We can generally tell if they knew the items were duped. As I said earlier, we're pretty much clear on having resolved the matter to the best of our ability, and we'll not be doing ban sweeps or anything of that dramatic nature.
Oh, and if I told you the small number of people who were banned, you'd be amazed. From the hue and cry, you might think it numbered in the thousands. Not even close! And with reinstatements, the number is even smaller than it once was.
We feel that the bug was resolved quickly enough to prevent permanent damage to the game economy, and it's really ok to go about your business at this time.

I still chuckle when I see "WTB Armbrace" in Party Search in the major trading hubs

Good to know we have the all clear from Anet. I've been buying ectos, but I have been a little paranoid lately.
