I'm half-expecting something to change if it already hasn't... earthquakes becoming more intense, more critters running around, new quests... anyone look to see if things are ramping up as preview of tonights preview?

I think once the event starts there will be a huge quake (maybe with knockdown)

Also if the cities will change visually wont we need to restart?

Anyone placing bets on where in the city the rift will open? my money in Kamadam is on the statue up the steps to the West, so far that areas just been decoration OR where storage was before they moved it, making us think it was just a harmless movement

It's been stated that there will be access points from the 3 major cities

Right, through the three NPCs. However I can't see it being as simple as the NPC deciding to send you there without something big happening, can you?

I get what you're saying now. I'm guessing the 3 big cities will look different after the "get r done" patch tonight...like the seasonal events.

though I do share your enthusiasm to see something neato happen, such as some district-wide occurences (real earthquakes, npc's announcing things, etc), perhaps followed by a quest given, like when Factions dropped where KC emptied out and we had to kill some torments and close portals.

Then, perhaps a cinematic after which we drop in some GWEN town where it really starts

10 Hours if they use the usual weekend event time which is 2AM CST(12AM PST ArenaNET Time).

looks like they have nothing for today

have to wait to see 12:01am friday to see if they change anything to get ready for the weekend

as for the earthquakes that have supposedly begun, I haven't seen anything that ressembles and earthquake, anyone else?
