this game isn't that diverse.. makes pvp boring
ok so all the online game I've played is a pvp based game.. helbreath, counter strike, blah blah blah u name it, I love pvp and competitive game.
so I thought i'd love pvping in this game.. but after a while I just started to realize
this game is not as diverse as I thought it was.
I mean, isn't assasin just way too overpowered?
all the top players that wins the tournaments are always sins,
as well as almost half the population in AB is sins, and next comes ele.
come on doesn't this tell u something?
i know some of u will say AB is for noobs anyways, but I like AB caz its dynamic and I like big scale battle.
I just thought that hopefully anet could realize the fact that statistically way too many players plays the same profession.. and I just hope they'll do something about it,
caz pvp can be way more fun if it was more diverse, and currently, IMO it's not really that diverse.

Play some real PvP imo, HvH, AB and RA can barely be classed as PvP, keep playing the scrub arenas and you'll get scrub builds.

Rather new to this game, so this is a very misinformed opinion. But, in the ascalon arena it seems that Dervs are way over-powered and when it comes down to it (especially if the result is a 1 v 1)... they can't die.
Tell me once you get to lvl 20 v 20 PvP it becomes more balanced and honestly, more fun. I dont' really like watching two Dervs going at it for 20 minutes with them eventually deciding to roll for it.

It obviously becomes more balanced. Ascalon Arena is a joke... as people with max gear max armor and better skills dominate those who want a tiny taste of PvP who don't have max gear/armor/good skills.

Once you get get good enough to HA and GVG. Then you will see the "competitive" atmosphere you so want to desire.

Yeah any pvp done in pve and the low level pvp (RA/AB/HB) are not going to interest someone who is a seasoned pvp fan. Get yourself into the higher end pvp and you will find GW really shines.

heh i find it funny you complain about so many people in ABs are sins and eles and then call AB "dynamic" . ..
anyways, go to higher levels of pvp and you'll see better play.

If you love real pvp, stop doing HB/AB/RA/Aspenwood.
HA would be a step forward while GvG is the highest form of PvP available in GW.
You should try GvG if you like "big scale battles" which require battle awareness, understanding of tactics and strategy as well as individual skills, much more than in HA.

OP is complaining about the suckiest PvP content in the game - Hero Battles.
OK I can understand that part.
What I can't understand is... he didn't play GvG and TA which are serious PvP in this game, AND he is judging PvP and comparing it to Counter Strike etc?
CS is a nice fun game, but saying it's more diverse than GW is a big lol. This game is more tactical and strategic than CS which usually focuses on good reflexes and jumping around endlessly... oh yea there's tactic, like you can camp or drop the smoke bomb. Uh oh.... Ok it's not that bad, CS is ok, but GW with all the skills is way more in depth game sorry.

I didnt mean to compare this game to CS and other games etc,
but w/ the number of skills and profession available this game is supposedly 'diverse',
and I just felt like it wasn't.
anyways thx for the input I should try GvG or HA then.. I just dunno enough ppl for it yet but I'll try that, thanks and dont take me wrong I do love this game

1. Yes assassins are overpowered.. most of the builds are 1,2,3,4,5 dead builds. No skill required whatsoever.
2. Try HA, TA , GvG :P

Assassins aren't as overpowered or as common as they once were. It's just that they have a very low skill requirement in comparison to their effectiveness, which is why they're so popular in lower levels of PvP.
In higher level PvP, there are some builds that utilize Assassins as well, but they require a somewhat higher amount of skill to use, since they're easy to kill and a prime target because of their effectiveness. While the actual skill usage is still simple, knowing what to do and when is a lot more complex than in say RA or AB.
The bottom line is that assassins aren't nearly as overpowered in GvG than in AB, though they can still be abused.
Also in GvG, you'll find almost all professions being used. Warriors, Rangers, Elementalists, Mesmers, and Monks make up the standard balanced build. Often a Paragon or Ritualist is thrown in instead of a Ranger or Elementalist. Dervishes are just as common as Warriors, and Assassins aren't very rare.
The great thing about GW is that as the gametypes improve, the desirability and diversity of the gametype improves as well.
For instance, GvG is much more complex and strategic than RA. Also, GvG has a much higher quality of players and a diversity of useful builds (keyword: useful, since anything and everything goes in RA).
So besides the game-created format for each type, the community-driven trends in each type make higher-level PvP so much better than lower-level PvP for those who like PvP in general.

Fine 3,5,1,4,2 :P, also SINS USE DUAL ATTACKS so the standard offhand>dual>offhand>dual so that's 6 attacks in a 10 secs time period so it's like a faster war, with weakened armor, and besides if a sin was as fast a war they wouldn't be used at all would they?
