Well, I don't PvP...Very rarely...maybe some RA or AB, but other than that, PvE all the way.
And about 4 months ago I went strictly 1 character...
Well, now that hall is only good for maybe a couple of things.
Showing my Mini, Heroes and Pets.
Dont have my max armors anymore.
And so far green drops for me suck.....
Well and the PvE titles I've spent Maxing are just gonna get some blurb, on a scroll?, and not even have some type of trophy to show for it..., just Display PvP titles, that I dont even want...That just makes most of the PvE'ers fume.....
Dont care about account based, just want my one character to be able to show their accomplishments, PvE accomplishments at that.
Could care less about PvP...
Other than that I'm happy with GWEN so far really enjoying it....
HoM needs a different set up in my Opinion..................................
1. HOM DEFINTELY should be account based simply because, I as a player believe that my account is actually one big family, leading to a single descendant that are able to gain the benefit from many. even if I wanted a alt gw2 character, I'd still be happy if my original gw2 character were the only one that had all the eye candy. as for the problem of descendants and inheritance; a possible alternative could be derived from a old pc game, Dungeon Siege your character could be a jack of all trades, OR be a grandmaster of a single profession. one is powerful, while the other is more versatile. that would still retain the flavor of GW, and showcase our accomplishments as a whole at the same time. I'm sure all the lore loopholes can be worked out if we can have intraspecies breeding in GW2.
2. I'd like to refute the account based titles vs char based titles, How can my monk have the hero title track, if my warrior earned it in HA? but wow look at that! my monk has the title! I'd like to ask the devs at Anet to stop being retards and actually think how titles really affect us as a player and a consumer. nobody has the time nor the patience and the skill to play to gain all the titles on a single character for a unknown sparkly effect in GW2. if the player himself/herself actually accomplishes that across all their characters, the player is already a KOABD for having the guts, patience and persistence in doing that, and it really shows their dedication to the game.
I'd want to reward the players themselves for playing the game, and purchasing character slots, rather than punishing them for seeking a more diverse experience. the characters aren't sentient, the person sitting at the keyboard is. WHO gives a flying fig if a specific character did it, we all know who's really behind the scenes controlling the character is. Besides, to tell you the truth, true roleplayers that like to act out stories and what not is a remarkably small minority in GW, WOW has a bigger fraction, but still just a minority. yet, Anet, you seem to think we all stand around and go oh Balthazar's Flames! the lich is opening the Door of Komalie!!! and we have to kill him on that magical stone to close it!
I don't really care whether stuff in Hall of Monuments gives bonuses in GW2 or not. However in the context of GW1 alone the current state of HoM seems like a huge amount of wasted potential to me. It's very limited, boring and not fun. I really hope some adjustments will be made before or after the big launch.
I have another issue which I have yet to see any reference to here. It was my understanding that the hall also servered the purpose of bragging rights. Well I tried to take a guildy in to my hall and show off what I had done. I have all the tapestries displayed, 3 minis(still grumbling about customized), Olias is Displayed(I usually never leave home without him) .....My guildy and I entered only to find a bare hall. Now if I cant take anyone in with me, then please explain just who the hell am I showing it off to, Myself?
I think the solution would be to display the HoM of the party leader. Havin it display randomly is pretty shitty and smells of lazy developers. The random organization of the heroes (keep pressing reorganize till you like it) also smells of lazy developers. Has ANet gotten lazy or is the expansion just an after-thought to keep some revenue coming in while they spent their main effort on GW2? I don't think that's the case though. The rest of GW:EN is awesome. it looks good, it plays good, it's enjoyable. i think they just had a few turds assigned to the HoM that aren't as good at their job as they thought they were.
I got very disappointed when i saw the HoM as well =/
I spent 3k hours playing GW, i got 11 PvE characters (plus 2 PvP), several of them with ascended armors. I got 20+ minipets, some of them rare.
And what will i get?
10 HoM almost empty, with like, one armor set and/or one weapon for display and maybe a title.
1 HoM with some titles, 1 armor set, 2~3 weapons, and no minipets because i don't want them customized.
As some people have stated previously here, i would like to see my accomplishments as a player, not as a character, because i don't wanna have only one character, i was given 9 character slots and i bought another 4 of them, and for what?
I really would like to know how the inheritance is going to work now =/, because if this is the way it will work, i will stop playing all of my other characters and focus in only one for the rest of the game, so i only make and focus in one single character in GW2 if i get it... i will purchase EotN for sure, but if i keep playing several characters and the HoM doesn't change, I won't be getting GW2.
So in the end it goes back to char based vs. account based titles. I've argued for the latter before and got shot down I think. Time to argue again . ALL titles should be account based to reflect PLAYER achievements.
ALL titles should be account based to reflect PLAYER achievements.
We'll never get that, but I completely agree. The character focus is ridiculous, in a game where most players have at least 8 slots and Anet are always willing to sell you more.
HOM was frankly a brilliant idea that is basically - sadly - lacking any real use in its current format - This feature got so many people excited - providing synergy with GW2 - great idea!
I wanted a place that allowed a certian personal feel - that actually meant something to PvE players - nevermind!
* Customized pets on Character, not account - fail
* Heroes require armor upgrades to display - could live with that.
* Titles - only hardcore PvP titles count. Hello? I though this was like ... PvE thing. double fail. Its just freaking stupid.
* Armors - yay, armors of other classes and genders are being displayed. WTF? - fail
* Weapons - so, none of my current coveted weapons are good enouigh - double fail.
And most important: Character based?
Good concept, i'll give anet that, but execution is flawed in so many things... its just wasted idea and wasted work as it is now.
The way I see it, there should be one HoM per account.
In that one hall, all achievments from all characters would be in it, with the name of who got it.
BUT
In GW2, one character only inherates from one character out of your HoM.

Reason: Formatted wrong
You must be r12 hero and/or r9 champion to make the honor thing react. Wtf?
There must be like 100-200 players who have reached r12 in HA and the very best GvG players are like r6 at most... Is that a joke or what?

And continuing the thinking... how many of those players even have a PvE char and are going to give a whit about moving them through the PvE world to a far off shrine? Now if there was a link from the Temple of Balth to the HoM, then you might see some use.
Instead ANet is going to force its top PvP players into the PvE world. Well... I guess that's better then trying to force all the PvEers into PvP. Oh wait.
Please change it to account based. Please let us put achievements from any character to the same Hall of Monuments so you can have a grand overview of everything achieved in Guild Wars, no matter on which character.
Also, as suggested, a minipet customization system similar to the festival hat system would be awesome.
And last but not least, please allow us to put all maxed PvE titles into the hall. I guess that it will be added when GW:EN gets final, but for now I miss it. I especially have been working on PvE titles because of the Hall of Monuments.
THE EARLIEST ANYBODY COULD ACTUALLY USE/BENEFIT FRON THE HALL IS WITH THE RELEASE OF GW2
a year and a half to two years in the future
right now they are working on GWEN which will be used right now.
the present epeen self worship impress people hall is a ........PLACEHOLDER
GWEN is now and your shrine to self worship can wait a few weeks/months with no damage at all as it wont be used for well over a year.
me..............i will have fun playing the game while you scream for a bigger monument because you...........worked so hard for it...........in a game

You've just summed up a reason why some people like me won't bother with HoM or GWEN to begin with. Wait for a few weeks/months? I'm not gonna wait when there're something better for me out there.
The entire thing is just POINTLESS, no matter now or 2 years later.

the point of HOM is to allow some transfer fron GW1 to GW2
that is its primary use.
GW2 is not coming out soon so why does it matter if they have a PLACEHOLDER hall for a while while the fix other more important things we will be playing right now?
is a shrine to your self so important you cant wait a few weeks/months to admire yourself?
