Buhu. Give me a break. First day of the pre-release of GWEN/HOM and everybody seems to believe that the current state of HoM is finalized. lol, wait until the real release before crying out loud.
Meh, you guys ought to raise less hell and more gold. I think the best measure would be allow for players to enjoy their HoM in their own way.
For instance, a Monument to a R3 hero is pretty plain, but as you increase, so does to grandeur displayed. This would be equitable in that those who didn't want to grind could enjoy the fruits of their labor as much as those who wouldn't sleep until their hall was trimmed with awesome.
Also, I enjoyed putting my Male Mesmer's Obsidian set in his monument. I'm going to assume the Male Rit/ Female 'Sin is a placeholder.
Granted, I've known Anet to slip up in the past, I have no qualms about the issues being addressed in a timely manner. Communicate your dislikes in a clear, precise manner while offering a means of improving the situtation. I have seen some very agreeable ideas posted within this thread. My guess is that Gaile doesn't want to be the punching bag for your frustrations. If you'd like to be treated in a prompt and courteous manner, I'd suggest acting as such. Whining/flaming isn't going to bring about change.
I'll get off my pedestal now, but I'd like to mention That at least I'm enjoying the preview this weekend. I don't expect any PC game to be flawless at first. Like any great wine they tend to improve with age (and subsequent patches too!)
I might as well shut the doors and weld the locks on my HoM, because I refuse to use it in its current state. The building amounts to nothing more than a half-assed "Museum of Customized Grinding".
Truth be told, I don't really give a crap about most of this stuff, but the minipet thing really upset me. Customizing them to your account I could understand because you're right, but preventing your other characters from using them is ridiculous. I have only about 5 minis, compared to my 10 characters. I only really use one, mini Mallyx, who would be obscenely expensive to obtain a duplicate of. Even if you could only attach a mini to one character's Hall, I'd really like to be able to display him on other characters. My price problem is bad, but other people who have miniature Kanaxai-s and Vizu-s would really have a problem.
This having been said, I greatly enjoy all other revealed aspects of EotN.
I agree with many posts about HoM needing to change how minipets are customized. Good thing I used a mini pig to do it lol but regardless now that mini pig can only be used on one character. There is no way I will customize my mallyx or kun if I can only use it on one character. If it became customized but usable on all of my character across my account I would be happy with that. I would also be happy with the idea of it being like festival hats where I can submit my minipet and remake it later with it being customized tothat character. As many mentioned the HoM is character based and not account based so they would have to set up the pets that when you submit them if you want to get them on your other characters either an npc or a command like /bonusitems (/minipet [name of minipet]?) is available.
Anyways something needs to be done about that and teh HoM minipet shrine needs to be account based!!!!!!!!!
Monument of
Fellowship: Crap, why can I only display Heroes when they have an other armor than the standard armor?
Devotion: Crap, make minipets Account-Customized, otherwise I will NEVER put ANY Minipet on this Monument
Honour: Wtf? Only PvP-Titles, and this so high? Did you completely got mad?
Valour: The only Monument that I dont have anything to complain about.
Resilience: Why the hell cant I see my Char there?
Just my 2 Cents, hope A-Net reads it.
This pretty much sums it up for me. Thanks for the preview. It's good to go in with open eyes. So this is "GW:EotN... Vehicle for bridging GW1 and GW2". So far, I've learned that if I want to use this vehicle, I should ignore missions, vanquishing and cartography. I shouldn't bother putting any effort into the appearance of my character. Because none of this will be reflected in any consequential way in the HoM, and it will receive similar attention in GW2. Instead I should devote 18 hours a day to PvP. Endlessly farm and spam WTS in order to acquire gold for armors. Cut each character's inventory down to 10% in order to make room for all the customized mini pets... because these are the only things that matter.
Well at least I can say spending $5 is much better than spending $40 and finding out I have absolutely no interest in this.
Maybe I will eventually buy GW:EotN... but only after I spend the needed time to collect the appropriate monument building criteria on all ten of my characters. Which, given the most conservative estimates, will be roughly 10 years from now. If you want to make it strictly character based, and practically ignore all the accomplishments I've gathered so far, then you will have to wait for my characters to be ready before I buy... It's your call.
FAIL! Nobody from Anet is standing by your desk with a gun to your head forcing you to play the game at all, let alone dictating how you play it.
Agreed

I agree in every aspect except mini-pets

The only, and I mean only, disagreement I have is with Mini-pets. This is the only item that has a limited supply. There is nothing else in the game that you can't reasonably expect to get through hard work. Minis are an exception.
Therefore, while I agree with the sentiment of your post, I have to take exception with regards to Minis. Anet has already established account-wide titles and festival hats. They could certainly do so with Minis.
Heck, I wouldn't even argue with Minis being per-character, excepting that I would have no way to store my collection.
I think ANet got the message that people really hate their underdeveloped HoM concept.
Minipet customization, so many char based title tracks and whatever... no weapons displayed right now at all, and the monument of honor demands maxed titles that are all pvp titles.
This is unfinished business.
They really need to THINK about this Hall again, BEFORE they say "ah well, it is a long time till GW2, let's see what stuff people will get through the Hom".
I also agree that this more and more demands and rewards focus on one char, not only because of Norn/Asura/Ebon Title tracks, but because of this odd hall of monuments.
P.S.: Maybe they finally get the idea to customize minipets/weapons and maybe even armors to the ACCOUNT, and not to the char. Would remove items from the market just as well and leave more flexibility.

I wouldnt call it a "Museum of Customized Grinding". You dont even get to choose what to display. But there's definately grind involved.
think theyve got hall of monuments wrong. a lot of people have many chars, cos its fun and good, some have a title hunter thatll go after certain titles (sweet tooth etc).
i think they should have a main hall for the account (pets, some titles, armour etc, statues of your chacaters or something, then a room for each chacater.
so the many chacater player will have a main hall as richly decorated as the person who only plays 1 chacater pretty much.
mini pets shouldnt be customised either, just do a check on storage/inventories of chacaters before entry, then have a little zoo with them together.
player selected weapons too, rather than predetermined "elite gwen only".
i want a candy cane weapon display, also im sure many have weapons that mean alot to them, for emotional reasons... a gift from someone or something, or just a funny weapon like those shields that req 13 strength with +1 divine favour.
armour dummies so we can make our own combo's up from a chacters armour and festival hats.
HOM should cater nicely to all players, even those who arent actully that good at the game, or havent achived alot.
another quick idea, minipet zoo should always have a couple of pets so if someones only got a minipet pig its not sad and lonely . just have some always on minipets that only appear in the hall of monuments zoo .

This is awesome. almsot everyone of the 10+ pages shows us taht everyoen wants account based HoM. i presonally dont have a problem wit char based HoM EXCEPT that minis are character customzied. seriously, wtf? i mean i know that rare minis will become even rarer but to make them cuzotmied per char? that blows.
Yeah was kinda the stupid way to do HOM. They should have done it like a storage. If you got a mini pet, you put it on display at HOM, and it's stored there on the wall. When you remove it to take it out for a walk, it's removed from the HOM. This would prevent people from "borrowing" pets to put on display because it would be pointless unless they decided to keep the pet forever. I dunno why ANET went and did the whole "oh the pet is in your inventory so we'll customize it to you and scribble on the monument that you happen to have one".
Basically this sucks for people with multiple characters because one character will have a ton of mini pets taking up their inventory/storage, and if you want to do multiple characters, you gotta get a ton of duplicates of mini pets. I'm sure everybody has plenty of mini pigs left over to do this, but multiples of mini pets takes up a crapload of storage space. Basically you'd have to add your mini pet to the monument, and then drag it to the trash bin to make room. How the heck does that work? /signed
Gosh, I'm not playing in the preview event, and still, every day I learn something nifty and new about the HoM!
Today's lesson: Even though I'm working very, VERY hard for my Legendary Cartographer title, and will be proud of it (regardless of the opinions of strangers), I've learned that this title is officially not leet enough to get a monument. Guess I should have played a bazillion hours of Random Arena, instead. Would I be leet enough, then?
Oh, well. Maybe the title monument will be directly across the room from the insane mini-pet destroying one, and they'll look balanced in their utter emptiness.
Almost as neat as yesterday's lesson: If my ranger diligently collects a bunch of high-end armor, she'll have a whole room full of pretty monk, assassin, and dervish statues to show for it! Whee!
Luckily, I'm buying GW:EN for the story, snow, and dungeons, not the HoM.
So nice to know that even though the main monument, the monument to honor, was supposed to be able to display "all the titles earned"(quote from: Eye of the North Guided E3 Demo Video) they somehow overlooked the 22 max PVE titles I have acquired (specifically for GW:EN and GW2). I am not buying GW:EN if that is not changed. I am questioning if I will buy GWEN if they don't allow the minipets to be account based customized (either as like a bonus item or customized for the entire account and not just one person).
