LOL. Did you even read this topic? She DID address the issue raised and answer the questions. Just because the answer was not what you wanted to hear doesn't mean it is not valid.
And raising issues and answering questions was never the point of this topic, it just degenerated into that. Can anyone tell me, without looking back to the OP, what Gail had intended this topic to be for?

I'll have a go, and I swear on Gwen's red flowers that I didn't look back, lol.
Gaile asked for info on if and which retailers were selling the boxed game in advance of anet's agreement with them, so that they could resolve issues between themselves and the retailers.
Where's my cookie, forum makes me hungry.

Yes, I did read this topic. Did you? I didn't ask any questions so it wasn't a matter of not hearing what I wanted to hear. I commented on the way I perceived one of her replies.

Edit: My apologies to you then Arteful Dodger. But why bring up the questions others have raised if that is not what you are addressing? Doesn't matter. Your entitled to your opinion on the tone of Gails posts. Personaly, I kind of like it when she starts to give us attitude.

No apology expected or needed.
I realize that many times posters can and do get way out of line when it comes to asking for something or wanting an answer to a question and when that happens Gaile is completely within her rights to come down on them with an attitude as you put it.
That being said I have seen a few instances where (in my humble opinion) she didn't have the need to cop the attitude that she did. I realize that customer service is a thankless job and you can never please everyone. It's impossible. But that doesn't give you a ticket to come across as arrogant and condescending as she seemed to in the post I was referring to.

Exactly. We do not choose to offer early access. We chose, instead, to offer something else. We were, in fact, required to give neither. However, we offered a Sneak Peek Weekend as a special gift. Please do not ask for more.
|
The word choose was emphasized in her post and just struck me as rather smug, arrogant and uncalled for. But that's just the way I took her answer. And why can't people ask for more? Not necessarily anything regarding this particular subject but when people ask for something in a polite way I see nothing wrong with it. Asking for things as led to good changes in the game.
My apologies to the horse for beating it to death.

I've had emails from people who are angry about not being able to play because they have the box in their hands and because the store did not point out, "You will need to wait until Friday to play this game."

As soon as you make something idiot proof, the world will produce a better idiot.
Someone should tell Amazon about this. When Factions came out, they weren't going to send the game, or the pre-order pack out til the day the game was going live. You can imagine the arguement I had with them.

Gaile, Gaile, Gaile....haven't you guys learned yet that people are going to bitch no matter what you do? Remember, you can please some of the people all of the time and you can please all of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time.

The only question I can see is, would people forget they prepaid and get angry with that charge on their credit card? Or would they welcome the opportunity to have everything taken care of at once, early, and not have to make a purchase at 12:01 AM?
|
People are not going to forget about a chapter, expansion coming out that they already paid for. Just read the boards for proof of that. Ever since you guys mentioned GW:EN, that's all anyone could think of. There's even countdown timers. So yes, I'd like the option to have it all paid for and no, I wouldn't forget about it and I imagine, neither would anyone else.

The way I see it, Anet offers the preview weekend not as a gift, but as way of promoting the product. It's pure unadulterated advertising... nothing more, nothing less. The preview weekend allows people to either salivate (as I did) over the new game or reject it. If you plunked down your 5 bucks and didn't like the game, nobody is going to give you your money back. So in that sense, you DID wind up paying for the preview.
All we're asking for is a sensible amount of time to purchase the full product from the online store so we can avoid any potential problems and jump right in at 12:01 am PST. Having everyone jam up the servers at once just might cause the levee's to break and we don't want to wait for FEMA to rescue us!
Since most retail stores close at 9 pm in the U.S., I don't see any problems with selling the game 3 hours before 12:01 am PST. I doubt that this would be a problem in Europe as most stores are probably closed this early in the morning.

Seriously, as with all the releases previously, most of the content is already on your computer if you did an -image update. I would expect an update maybe this week in the range of MB and one (for sure) at release in the range of KB.

I hope I will look like a *expletive deleted*. Sincerely, I hope so. I wish I could be sure, after all, it would mean I'd get the game ASAP.

You did not pay for the pre-release. You put down a down payment on the full product. As a thank you for that down payment Anet decided to make available a Preview Weekend.
|
Then, where is my full release? Will it be automatically added to my account at the time of release? NO! I still have the option of buying the full release or not, and I don't get back that "down payment". That is money out of my pocket. I PAID for it. It was NOT a gift!!

That "down payment" was a purchase, but it gets deducted from a purchase of the full version if you buy it. Think of it as a down payment that never gets given back, but can be used as credit.

Uh... You get a few weapons and a sneak peak for having the PBP. And then, if your retailer is as nice as A.Net, they deduct that amount from the price of the full game, making the PBP essentially free. So think of it as a conditional gift : "I'll do this for free if you buy from me". Not so different than paying for an estimate at the local garage and getting that estimate deducted from the repairs on the car. If you go somewhere else, you lose the free aspect.

I just got a message from the Gamestop I pre-ordered the game from today (7/28 South Florida). They said the game will be available tomorrow (7/29) before 12 p.m. eastern. That threw me off because I knew that the game wouldn't start until the 31st.
Sidenote: will there be a collectors's edition available?

I got a call from Gamestop today saying that my preorders for Blue Dragon (which I think I may cancel and opt for Eternal Sonata instead) and GW:EN are coming out TOMORROW, August 29th. I called just to make sure because previously Gamestop told me they'd get their boxes in on September 1st, but the clerk looked it up and confirmed that they have their shipment ready to sell first thing tomorrow.
Ready to buy!
And I reside in Orlando as well. Must be a Florida thing! <('.'<) (>'.')>

I just received a call from gamestop (eb games) who I preordered the official GWEN through, saying that the retail versions would be coming in by around noon time Wednesday. As to when available pickup/streetdate is, I don't rightfully know.
