Default Australian Release delayed

I know there was already a thread about this but its was misinformed and fueled by anger.

The Facts

We’re very sorry for this delay.
I can confirm that it is an EB side error, there shipping fault that has caused the delay.

I attempted to warn people about this matter yesterday when I heard from EB sources that it was delayed, Now they weren't open to admit fault but did say it was there delivery side that had the delay.

One staff member also claimed it was due to shipping traffic and an accident, Boats crashing. But I'm hoping that was just a joke. edit ok another employee just told me a ship crashed in sydney... maybe its true.

Now I'm one of the loudest critics, and I was concerned knowing that this isn't the first time a release has been delayed. But I'm not directing my anger towards Anet this time. EB has confirmed it is there fault.

Please resist the urge to post Anet hate replies in this thread, and more so can other nations uneffected please resist posting there own opinions

And if this EB exclusive deal which gimps large proportions of Australians who live hundreds of kilometres from the nearest EB was removed you could have gone ANYWHERE else and gotten a copy. It took six weeks for Nightfall to appear in local retail here, it's will probably be the same for Eye.

I feel sorry for the people in those conditions, but EB claims they will have the items to sell by Monday. If your in a remote location I'm sorry if it takes longer.

They lied to you, it may not be directly there fault, but its with there shipping service/ people. Its an Australia side issue, that EB has known about for atleast 3days.

That's all nice and dandy for Gaile to palm the blame off to the courier company but if anet hadn't signed an exclusive deal with EB in the first place we'd be able to buy the game from all the other retailers who don't have crappy supply chains.

Yes I just got told today, wait till monday (and the guy stressed *at the earliest*)...but how long with Anet/NCsoft rely on EB?

Wish they would just start filtering it through all the other computer game retailers around Australia, Big W and Kmart even.

Then again, I could buy through the online store, which I will in the future...

I don't like how we players are left with multiple /shrugs. "its not our fault..its shipping...its the couriers...its many things...maybe a giant whale" and again, EB nor anet or NCsoft has come up and said: "hey we dropped the ball." Easy to blame it on the middleman - ill go contact the port authority or use all my shipping contacts will I? "hey guys! steer straight?? I really want the Guild Wars expansion pack?" I guess its just one of those things that can't be helped: AGAIN. So hard to get a game in on time?

Don't they realise they put all their eggs in one basket with this exclusive deal with GW; and hey Gaile, you wanna know something? these EB games people, they know jack shit about GW, the chick I talked to didn't even know what a pre-order was....nor guild wars...so its not as if they give a dam about this deal, and its not helping your Australian/NZ player base is it? That would be the idea, or at least part of the idea of having this exclusive deal eh, making sure your FANS get the game on time.

ok, its not anets fault. but the fact remains *again* a GW release is delayed in Australia/NZ region. Is this acceptable Anet, that certain companies can't get your stuff in on time?

Ok you would make more sense with less rage, Anet has nothing to do with your game being delayed. Its EB games and YES I know if Anet didn't have an exclusive deal yadda yadda...
“Things without remedy, should be without regard; what is done, is done.”
If you want to express your rage I suggest you call EB and contact an area mananger, or go to the source EB games HQ.

Oh in that case, continue to post in fan forums without making any real sense at all, about things you can't change. Asking questions that no one can answer; in a manner that ensures you don't recieve an official response. Then insult everyone for not understanding, with out waiting for replies.

I'm sure it will help get your game to you faster

NCSoft is the distributor, not ArenaNet. If you're going to blame someone at least blame the right person.

Cheers thank you soo much for jumping in with that useful bit of information,
We are using the term Anet to mean the producers and distributors of Guildwars..... And if you had read the thread, its not about blaming them, its not even there fault. But thank you for the update.

I guess it's just one of those things, but why does it always have to be us? I understand that this is one of those situations that was techincally no-ones fault, but SOMEONE (whether it be EB's, Anet, NCSoft, whoever) should have let us know prior to some of us turning up at the stores only to be told, come back after the weekend.

Factions came late, and NF collector's editions came late, and now this... This is the third time it's happened to Australia and NZ, and I simply think it's not acceptable from whoever is responsible...

Things to do while Australia is wait to get over the latest screw ups connected to GW and EB:

1) I hear we have beaches

2) Collect all the materials need for a mini black moa, then realise your guild is luxon, and you've never been deep within Kurzick land.... Then also realise you need Honeycomb and a journal. /rage quit.

3) Mow the lawn

4) Finish some of the side quests in prophs (A game I played since its been possible to play, beta baby!) Ignoring the people comments about GWEN.

5) Try finding that 1.8% to get my tryian cart... /ragequit

6) Call up EB and order a copy of Pong, or seem interested in buying a NES. Wait 15minutes of the sales persons time. feel slightly better about being jacked over the release.

7) Make a list on a fan forum about things u can do while wait for a game.

8) Get bored and go play something decent that was released ontime with full support... C&C3.

The only other store is Games Wizards (renamed to GAME). And they're not getting it until September 30 D:

As I mentioned yesterday, we're very sorry that the shipments were delayed. Please forgive me (and resist the impulse to flame )when I mention again that there is another, better option than chance, and waiting. One of the very reasons we developed the In-Game Store was to meet the needs of those who suffer lack of availability or delays in getting the game. So the primary reason for the In-Game Store is to assure that anyone, anywhere, can obtain a copy of the latest Guild Wars game, and can do so when the game goes live.

We have players in South America, the Middle East, Africa and other places who have difficulty and sometimes high expenses in getting hard copies, if they are ever able to get them at all. Service people stationed on military bases often can't get their copies on day of release. Stores in more remote locations can experience a delay. Ditto many other situations. On-line distribution gives you the opportunity to purchase and receive the products in a matter of minutes and to be in the game and playing the hour it goes live.

Now, that's my point. I know there are side issues like billing currency, liking to have the box, or someone not liking to order online. All valid points, but all away from the main point here: There is an additional option to purchase, beyond the boxed copy, and we feel that it's a very good one. There is even an extra incentive to use that extremely-viable option with the offer of the free Bonus Mission Pack.

While we always do our best to make sure things go smoothly, there can be many things outside our control that affect when someone can get a copy of the game. So please, give some thought and consider whether the In-Game Store may be the best choice for you.
