That size is about right.
That is the result of 3 campaigns and EOTN which has way better textures.

The compressed files were probably decompressed and deleted after you looked at the size.

5,828,272 Kilobytes (almost 6 gigs). I have three campaigns, 12 char slots, and EotN. Though, I was under the impression that everyone had the same dat file, and that keys merely granted access to that content. I did do the -image switch last tiem i played, so I should have everything... maybe you guys need to load some maps still.

How the bloody hell do uncompressed files end up smaller than the compressed versions?

Id suggest just copying your templates and reinstall/DL the game. Then replace your templates, and run a defragmenter that can handle the GW.dat (windows defragmentor cannot).
That topic is covered here.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10037429
This will also help your game run a LOT smoother in general.
EDIT: Powerdefragmenter takes a very long time to run through the whole process, but it does do a thorough job i use it myself. Just a heads up.

Lossless compression will always mean that certain high-entropy files will end up larger than their uncompressed counterparts.

my GW.dat is 3,754,528 kb big (3.58 GB). I have all 3 chapters & EotN. Although anyone who's run -image recently should have same files as me. I have run -image, so have everything downloaded. Installed from Proph, Factions & Nightfall CD's and d/l'ed EoTN b4 preview event.

Okay that makes no sense. Compression by definition is to compress the size of a file, this is what makes me wonder when the uncompressed version ends up smaller. Unless what happened was the dat file was cut down because it held the uncompressed AND compressed files in the same part.
