So, let's take a moment to look at what it would take to get a pet on a throwaway character, the same way some people "farm" -50hp foci.

You can get the egg on another character.
You can harden the egg on another character.
You can get the herring on another character.
You can get the berries on another character.
You can get the honeycomb on another character.
You can get the nesting material on another character, thanks to Firebaall's trick.

The throwaway character needs to beat Zho in the tourny.
The throwaway character has to get "rushed" through the canthan mission up through Gayla Hatchery so you can craft the incubator. (You can farm the luxon faction on another character.)
The throwaway character needs to get run to SF and taken in by someone with Final Assault.

That doesn't sound impossible. A few dedicated players could probably rock through cantha pretty fast, and a shiverpeaks run isn't too hard in this age of dervishes. If you made the throwaway character a Mo/N, you could pick up SV south of leviathan pits, toss on some runes, a totem axe, and a -50hp focus (if you've leveled high enough you need it), and beat Zho easily. (Then just recycle the runes and gear to the next throwaway char.)

While not impossible, moas would have to command very high prices to make this sort of effort worthwhile. Hmmm.... Thoughts?

On the topic of farming spiritwood. Yeah... wood and dust are both super-easy to come by. Just do about any old farm out there and salvage your whites.
You can also farm spiritwood pretty reliably off the plant monsters in the forest. When I use my earth ele, I always get 10 or 15 spiritwood accidentally in the time it takes me to get a scar eater.

the problem with getting a run in cantha, is that many of the places have big gates on the doors when you try to run to them... i had to work my way to get the eggs hardened and i tried to run every town i didn't have, and was forced to do missions and quests that were compleately pointless to do (biggest reason why i hate factions to being with).

i go with a full team of hench, and running a OoU mm build... if only go up to the korman boss, you get 1 every 2-3 trips... if you go all the way to the huge mob of skree on the hill, you can get 2-3 each trip but it does take more time... they probly equeal out.

Good job Anet for coming up with another way to make your player base play more by teasing us with a cool minipet, but making it hard to acquire, not because it's difficult, but because you've made the spawn chance for Zho be ridiculously low. </3

That's why I said "rushed" instead of "run." You'd need a friend (or two) to power you through the canthan mission quickly. (And then you'd need to split the profits.)

All the other prestige items like elite armor and elite weapons also take time, effort and grinding to get. So why should this be any different? My friend is one of the "average" players in this game. He falls well into the statistic of less then 20k. He has roughly 2 hours he gets to play most of the week and maybe another hour or so on saturday or sunday.

After finishing the factions, over a year+, he has 4 spirit wood planks. and some dust/wood. To craft this stuff will take most of his money OR he can farm spiritwood planks, which you seem to think is easy to do with your offhand comment on farming. So go farm me up 46 wood planks and see how good the drop rate is. Or find me a great farm a casual player warrior can do to earn 10-15k or so.

Of course with the crap drop rate on spritwood it would be easier to farm up another 250 dust and finish off what little wood he may be missing but then he'll still need 10k which as I said is most of his money.

Tried the plants on my rit solo for a few hours and didn't get one to drop. The drop rate on them is pathetic.

Can totally confirm this. Thanks for the trick, Expect it to get nerfed soon when they figure how to nerf it.

On another note even if you have the stuff to buy more then one incubator Katherine won't sell more then one to you. With the window open if you click the number counter up she says shes out of that item. If you buy one and don't close the window she says basically the same thing. So it is one per customer for incubators.

Took me 38 tries to get Zho. Fortunately my friend only had to do it about 10x.

The spiritwood really isn't so bad to get. Just from trying to get 10k faction to befriend the kurzicks, i've ended up with 20 of them, over maybe... 10 hours play at most. Still not fantastic, of course, but not only are those from drops, but i expert-salvage everything too. Got some from rods and staves etc.

Get your friend into the Fissure of Woe, he'll have enough gold, dust and wood from salvaging shadow staves and bows, dark remains and various other wooden and magical drops to make 3 or 4 incubators in a couple days' time. Have him make a smiter bond monk for a 600/smite duo and head in there with a pro tank on hard mode...bingo bango done.

So he can't play much, so it will take him longer. Not exactly a weird thing if you ask me. Again, the Moa is not unattainable for people who play less, it will just take longer for them. What offhand remark on farming? I said it's not difficult to get wood and dust. You make it sound like wood planks are really difficult to get. Do you even use salvage kits? There's plenty of white bows and staves in GWEN which you can find while adventuring which will salvage into wood. There's wood plenty out there and it really is not hard to find. Same goes for the glittering dust.

And for the gold part, a lot of the quests in Gwen pay good money. Don't buy keys and just do quests in Gwen.
