I don't think anyone should give up and wait fro GW:EN, if when we found teh Moa immediately thought "wait for GW:EN" then they would have never found the fish, volcanic rocks, the Morning Veil spring, or anything....if people keep searching there is a chance that people will continue to find things.

The fact you know the aforementioned player's theory is wrong shows us that you do know infact the answer to this puzzle, or solution to this mystery. Maybe we could know just this; will it require GW:EN or not? I'm assuming so, it'd be nice to know for sure though.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.
p.s.: you have to put all items into the Scrying Pool in the Hall of Monuments to unlock the secret Moa level

I have one big question that I have looked for the answer and not seen it. Who/how/when/etc did someone find out to put the egg into the falls, because to me, it could be one of two things A) a dev leak B)EXTREME luck and I guess C) me missing how it was discovered. It just seems like such an obscure thing to happen, everything else can be stumbled upon fairly easily. ie you're in a zone, and see moa egg, so you pick it up, or you see a collector that gives you a weird item. But doing such a RANDOM action to a RANDOM thing from a different campaign; how was it figured out? Please no speculations, I'm sure people will say "they tried alot of stuff" but what are the odds.
Anywho, Im totally for the search, I think its interesting, but I think the last part will also be in GW:EN. As for the people that troll the thread saying "why don't you wait for GW:EN?" If people had waited for GW:EN they would've never found out ANY of this stuff, thus you wouldn't have a thread to troll, what a paradox.

you don't put the egg in the falls, you have it in your inventory when you click on it. Someone probably was carrying around a moa egg when they were doing other quests and clicked on the falls, got the message and said "woah".

Which leads me to a hypothetic question.......
You are that person, the first to discover how to harden the egg. You then go on to figure out the next steps required to turn the egg into lets say for arguments sake a mini pet Moa - So, you are the only person playing the game (as far as you are aware) that has managed to put together the clues to obtain the pet.
Do you?
(A) - Not tell anyone about how you created the pet and sell it for a huge amount - keep producing and selling until someone else finds the secret
(B) share your findings with the rest of the community thereby reducing the value of your pet
An interesting moral dilemma I think.

I'm pretty sure that A won't work. Too many people in the game are skeptical of anything new. You'd most likely be labeled a scammer until someone can prove it, as was the case early on with the Icy Dragon Sword. No announcement seems to equal scam and lots of people's eyes.
You (you meaning whoever tried A) might get lucky though. If I knew I could get more than one I'd sell it. After all it's a virtual market so why not. Then i'd let people know though. I wouldn't horde it.

Well, I think the mystery is quite a lot of fun and have enjoyed all the talk very much. But I think it might be a quest to run around and get everything then give it to someone and they give you the mini. Perhaps A Welcome to Gwen or Holloween quest. Kind of like the hunt for the socks and pipe at Christmas. And I think there willl be some kind of control on how many you can get, which is why I think it will be a quest you can take once per character. But that dosen't stop me from looking around and gathering eggs and hardening them and getting skree stuff.

Ok, Thanks Gaile, I have stopped sitting on the Hardened Moa Egg. I have also stopped trying to get the Herring pickled. I am however adding to my explorers tiltle track in all three games checking stuff out. I even found a way into NF in the the Arid Sea Desert in Prophs. There is a NPC there that tranports you to the Crystal Overlook area in NF. Here are the non-quest items I have gathered so far.
Moa Egg, processed to,
Hardedend Moa Egg
5 Skree Wings, taken to collector and exchanged for
Nesting Material
5 Bog Skale Fins taken to a collector and exchanged for
Herring (non-pickled)
Volcanic Rocks
Branch of Juni Berries
Gwens Broken Flute (not sure that ties into this though)
I am still exploring places to see if any of the other items can be processed into other things. Anyone else found any other collectors or had the items changed to something else?

Linsey Murdock(The designer that came up with this I believe) has mentioned that it pretty much can't be finished unless you own GW:EN. So you will have to wait till friday to finish this scavenger hunt.
Here is what is being said about it on her talk page.
But don't let me stop you from speculating and guessing until then, just a little heads up that you can't finish it until then.

Shhhh.... now now Gaile, don't be giving it all away like that! Besides, you left out the best part! The sweet Juni berry and Red Iris flower chutney with a nice tall glass of Iboga fruit juice. - Linsey talk 00:54, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

So do we need to gather some Iboga petals also? (... or is that the red herring? )

If that is the case then maybe it will be like the Shing Jea Festival where we got the mini pigs. Prepare a feast type thing and these items are the ingredients and the prize may be a mini moa... idk just speculating

Maybe the whole quest has nothing to do with a mini-moa, (Actually is for a picnic.) because there isn't really such a thing in the game, but Anet will realize that the idea of a mini-moa is super popular, and they'll decide to add one.
So they'll give away 4 of them for winning some high-end PvP tournament. >_>
Am I getting cynical in my old age? Maybe. ^_^
I just want a baby moa SO darned bad that I refuse to actually believe it until I see it. Too many dashed hopes are bad for the soul.
