A serious question for ANET
Hello all who read this,
I am very confused on this matter.
Here it goes -
I have had the game for 16 months now and have logged 4 thousand hours and love every min of it, I am just very VERY confused on how in the world i have yet to receave a GOOD DROP note good drop meaning
I have Done everything PVE and PVP offer thats all quest missions Elite missions, Challenges etc... killed millions of monsters and have yet to receave a drop where i go OMG OMG OMG which i have not had a problem with since I love to Farm Ectos in the UW with my Buddy who is the Best 105 monk in the game LOL IMO.
Let me put this clear the only way i have earned money in the game and mass amounts is doing Spider runs for 15-20k and Ectos and Random Materials -Rubys-Etc (side note Green drops are non existant for me dosent matter how many times i Solo boss or go with Pug) As of late my ecto drops have went to shame as well. Im so confused about this because I got my friend In real life to start playing the game 3 months after i started he gets nothing but good drops i mean the kind that you pick up go to town and sell for 100+ in less than 10 mins.
For example all bosses in factions and Nf we come across and kill he gets their greens nearly every time dosent matter if we have hench/heros Example(Gates of desolation Wurm runs for Lb/SS we maxed those title doing nothing but Hard mode Farming (my drops for all of runs merchent worthy whites, blues, Purps and req 12+longswords Etc you get my drift but my friend on the other had Gold R9 firey blade Axe, Gold R9 Icy Blade Axe, 2 Count them 2 Elemental Swords req 10 and 11, a enormse amount of Lock picks and req 9-12 Golds.
Now that EOTN has come out we are Farming all Bosses and Dungens Not these drops I will only go into the Catherdal of Flame Drops since we have done alota runs in all of them (12 runs and counting in the past 2 days for the Catherdal) My drops from groups killing our way to lady of the night Ascalon white drops meaning low lvl low damg weapons and a few dyes none worth more than 20 gold opon getting to the boss and killing her i receved 1 onyx gemstone 11 Req 11+ golds fire focus, fire wand, brute sword, bladed axes 3 of them, 2 Greater Dark Scimitars 1 Req 9 with No mods on it whatsoever and 1 req 13 with crap mods, wont go into the rest cause i feel to embarrsed. My friends drops from the same chests not including the 3 greens he got from the Keeper and the Master, Gold R9 Legendary Sword max mods 15^50, 30 to health and 20/20, all 3 of merkias greens the reaver the sword and the hammer, 5 Gemstones, Req 10 Runic blade mods were ok.
If Anyone could elaborate on this or better Yet I would Like A real answer how this is even possable from Anet.
I will continue to do runs because i belive my drops will pick up but since i have been playing the game for 16 months i scream when god When will my luck change or is it that Anet just hates me.
I do the reset drop crap the same as my friend does
If i do not get a resonable Answer for this i will just give up on farming anything but UW with my Online Buddy for ectos and make the useual booko bucks for spider running. I really like farming other areas but if the payout is never gonna pick up than whats the point.
PLEASE GIVE ME SOME CLUE AS TO HOW THIS IS HAPPENING
Thank you very much,
The Hermet
Edit by Malice - I done what I could to sort it out.
On a more serious note - less of the trolling, please. Those that bashed the OP had more then their fair share of poor grammar as well. So, unless you have got something intelligent to say, don't post.

Stop going with your friend since it's obvious he's stealing all of your drops.
It really is all chance, and your friend has just been lucky compared to you.
P.S. Your post was pretty hard to read. Run-on sentences ftl.

try doing some quests or missions on your account, it seems to improve my drops. I know anet "said" they removed the farming code, but I think some of it is still there. A couple of my guildies and I have kinda seen the same pattern.
Oh and sentence structure and some punctuation might help just a tad. its not that hard even if English is a secound lang (in fact most non native English speakers I know have better grammar then the native ones) Just because its the internet doesn't mean that punctuations and grammer arn't important

Do you have Nightfall?
I have over 6k hours, and all my decent golds came from Nightfalls free chests. (and by decent, I mean usable. Nothing I own is worth 100+ k!)

I doubt you have done everything PvP [has to] offer ( I assume you were trying to say) If so, then you are very high ranked, and any high ranked person in HA has gotten at least one good item.
If you haven't and are high ranked, odd, but if you're just saying youve done all it has to offer, and actually don't PvP that much, you shouldn't mention it as one of the things you do.
Also, go chest run, or solo farm some random area for colossal scimitars, or ele swords. Doing quests and missions will RARELY net you a good drop, I mean extremely rarely, especially since almost nothing is worth more than 100k+ anymore.
Also, try doing the elite dungeon more, and go for the chest drops there.
Lastly, I literally Lol'ed at the hooked on phonics link, because you do need it.

@OP I think to some extent drops are character based. I have 14 chars and all have varying degrees of drop Karma. My ele gets crap as a rule, don't think she's ever gotten anything over 30k in her 2 years of existence from drops, chests or treasures. My mesmer however...holy gold drops Batman! Chests, treasure everything, she makes me bank! My fiance and I have a theory regarding who had Favor when you created the char, but have never been able to show anything other than just theory lol, and favor is kinda moot now anyway. Try a new char, who knows?

Personally, as a primary PvE player, I don't see that PvP has much to offer, considering the effort you have to put into it to stay competitive. Maybe the OP feels the same as me, and after struggling to get a PuG only to wipe after the first round, he realized its just not worth the effort to get r6+.

I believe this too. Its rather obvious that something is still lowering droprates due to repeated farming, its not hard to see the pattern if you are a farmer. However, be prepared to get jumped all over from the Anet fanboys for this one. Apparently some believe what Areanet says can be nothing but the whole truth. (naive, isn't it?)

All the good drops got scared away by your whining.
On a side note best thing I've ever gotten was a req 9 chaos axe, and i have close to 2k hours logged now... Some people are luckier than others. Deal with it. Be happy for your friend ffs.

I don't think there's a farming code anymore. And the old one was a joke anyways, Log off for a few minutes and you could go right back to gathering cash.
Though yeah, farming for a short peroid of time I found a pattern to it. But for long peroids of farming I see too much randomness to think something is going on.
Although peoples proof these days are weak, farm for 6 hours straight and you'll see what I see.
All I know is I want to get in on all the areas the bots use to be, I bet the drops are sweet. Too bad I'm actually playing the game for now.

I'm very unlucky too, but only on this game in real life I'm blessed!
I have noticed that playing with my ele I always get rubbish and because it's my preferred character .....I don't care anymore.
For example to get Zho in the Norn Arena for the book I spent close to 7K ........ before I could get her! Sure I got norn points, but I really don't care about titles or new armours.
The seldom times I played my other characters, (all lvl 20), I noticed that my monk was the lucky one with my mesmer, pity tho that I'm not very good at using them.
My ranger, warrior, necro, assassin are all very, very unlucky!
Sure I would like to get the elusive item that would make me go "" I'm still hoping that one day it will happen!
Sending good wibes to the OP!
/Angelica
PS. The friend you play with should give you some of his good multiple drops too, free of course! My guildies do that all the time to me.

Luck?
According to Galie from about a year ago, around 90% of the GW population has less then 20k. So you are still exorbantly rich comparitvely.

Why not? I've got about 850 hours logged and I'd say the average amount of cash in my storage is in the ~10k range. I don't farm, I just play the game, and I pretty much spend money on skills, hero equipment, armor, and whatnot as soon as I get it. I think the most I've ever managed to horde was about 50k. I'm sure there's been at least one thousand platinum that have passed through that account, but none of it ever stays there. I suspect that, among casual players, the money in/money out ratio is pretty much 1.

My ele usually gets great drops (r5 treasure hunter r4 wisdom) i've had around 5 100k+ items from doing chest runs and i can farm from some bosses 6 greens in an hour. But I don't farm much anymore cus it gets boring. My warrior on the other hand always gets crap so I would do as others have suggested and switch characters and maybe you will get better drops.

So you're saying that everyone should have access to rare items? That would make them not rare and have no price meaning you wouldn't be able to get any money off them. It doesn't make any sense.

I have around 2,200 hours logged over the past 25 months. I have around 150k in storage and 4 15k armor sets for my warrior, and 1 15k armor set for my monk. I don't farm, I used to back when I wanted my 15k armor, but I would farm enough to get it, then go back to around 10k. My advice to get lots of money as a casual player. SAVE. I haven't bought anything unless I absolutely need it. I haven't gone and sold any high end weapons to players or anything to get a mass amount of cash quickly. I have simply saved any money that I have got. Ya I don't have the millions that some people have, but I don't need it. Just save your money and you will have plenty.
