That depends if we are allowed to switch primary classes in GW2 or not.

I'm going to be human, and probably an elementalist. But if they have another class that catches my eye, like a druid or hedge wizard then I'll play as them.

Don't they have something like that in Final Fantasy 11? Anyways, I will probably make a human ranger. I've actually been thinking about the OP's question lately since I don't like it how I've spread myself out over my five characters (I'd like to add a sixth also) and I figure that if GW2 operates any where close to how GW1 operates I can make a ranger and if I get bored of that they can also make a decent warrior (better than a mending wammo anyways) or a decent paragon without having to spread myself out across the three classes.

Ah-huh... No humans was a possibility in your mind? Why? Seeing as they inhabit two nations on tyria and the majority of Cantha and Elona...
Human/Warr is a definate for me. Gotta continue my main characters lineage.
Charr/Derv would be mightily interesting... Seeing a charr pirouetting with a scythe.

Sylvari or Human for my Ranger class. The Sylvari looks to have some kind of a connection to Melandru ie Ranger God, that might provide a link there.

Yes they do, but after GW1, I'm not sure if I can bring myself to creating a bunch of PCs next time around.

Right now, I'd have to say "Not Here". The no level limit thing they're introducing doesn't give me much hope that they'll rediscover the balanced skill>time game that they left behind with pve skills in gw1.

GW2 seems to become even more generic and juvenile than GW1. Maybe we will one day praise the disjointed Storylines of GW1 as the pinnacle of fine storytelling *cough*.
Norns - big bad dumbasses.
I actually like heroic fantasy and stuff like that, but the cartoony silly ass attitude of the norns turned me totally off. They also look like walking beerkegs. Also seem to be destined to become the bear tank of GW2.
Sylvari - tree huggers
"We have a special connection to plants and know nothing of pain and hate".... ewwwwwww! And we also look like generic anime-treehuggers, no thanks. This esoteric babble is not my ideal of "being one with nature" or a ranger.
Charr - actually quite okay
Yet it seems to boil down to a fight of rebel charr vs religious fanatics, basically islamists. They also cannot stop grinning like some kind of bronze chinese dragon statue.
Humans
The generic choice. Maybe this time male warriors are not overweight bodybuilders, this seems to be reserved to the Norns.

Female Sylvari Ranger - closest I can get to my good old Female Half Elf Ranger in DnD. Tie between Norn and Charr Warrior.
