It's sad but true. Anet don't care. They have your money, and don't NEED to do anything till GW2. I would be surprised if they actually did add content aside from Hard Mode.

They ARE right. It happend to a lot of games: Diablo isn't updated any more, Diablo II isn't either (one reset per 2 years, wow - but no patches), because of WoW. Neverwinter Nights isn't updated, even if NwN 2 is a horrible game, that wasn't work high ratings. Even in guild wars - Prophecies was forgotten after Factions came out, Factions after Nightfall and Nightfall... well, it had maybe 2-3 months of interest.
But I hope they are clever enough to notice that if they dont release any updates in those few years, people WON'T buy gw2. And about servers... Same here, they propably won't close them for 1-3 months, but then bye-bye GW1. Buy our super-extra-hyper product and enjoy, or die in agony.

As for the topic at hand, I had no idea there was shortage of armor sets for the Paragon and Dervish. Truthfully I never bothered to count the sets. Many have complained that EOTN armor are re-skins of previous armor sets. I don't think people realize how hard it is to come up with new armor sets. I think ArenaNet sought to improve older armor sets, perhaps tweak them to attract more interest with less favorable armor sets.
Instead of complaining about the Armor sets, I would like to see some sketches and designs of new armors people would like to see. I think it would be more productive in our goal to improve Guild Wars as franchise.
Also lets keep in mind that there's great possibility that armor sets will be greatly improved in GW2.

Who knows? Maybe you're right. The cynic in me certainly agrees that if they had a guarantee of GW2 being a success regardless of what they did with GW1, then they may not lift another finger to add additional content. That they have no guarantee of that, however, gives even the most cynical person a reasonable expectation that they might continue to support the game in order to help maintain the fan base for their next - even should it be low on their list of priorities. As Abedious said - while other games have indeed been completely abandoned, this usually occurs after (sometimes even well after) a successor, if not a direct successor, has been released, not before.
At the end of the line, there are three attitudes to be taken. The most optimistic is that additional updates will be made and that ANet is paying attention to the boards to gauge what is desired - in which case the boards should give feedback as to what to prioritise. The middle road is that there will be updates, but ANet isn't paying attention, and the cynical attitude is that when ANet representatives have stated that they have additional ideas that could be incorporated into GW1 that they're at least twisting the truth and have no intent of actually doing so, and instead intend to leave the game hanging.
We don't know which is the actual case. We might in a year's time, but GWEN was only released less than a month ago, and we already have another content release scheduled for before the end of the year.
While those of us making suggestions may indeed be wasting our time if GW is indeed to be abandoned, we're at least being constructive. It may be wasted effort, but there is still a chance of it doing some good. By contrast, I don't see your statements, or those of your fellow "Aussie Trolling Crew" as anything more than deliberate provocation and a waste of the disk space it is stored on.

Certainly one thing I've noticed they've done is introduced Monument-storable versions of armour types that didn't have an elite version before (Ritualist Shing Jea comes to mind). The reskins of armours that did already have elite versions and the badly mixed-and-matched sets passed off as new armours are a little more annoying, but at least some of the reskins may well be welcome to some for providing the ability to place something at least comparable to a favoured armour set into the Hall.

QFT, the only reason they will want to add stuff to GW is to keep enough of the player base for GW2. Then the cycle will repeat itself until ANet dies.

Why, compared to some of the other mods here, at least he's active...
And remember kids, more content for GW1 hasn't been ruled out, with Jeff Strain even saying that another expansion, let alone more content was "Highly probable", in a recent interview... Not to mention the fact that as GW2 grows and evolves, things in gW1, like the hall of monuments will have to be worked on, etc to get them to sync with GW2, especially as this is something that we'll have access to in GW2 aswell

Delete all your chars and everything in storage, and never log on again?
Anet knows how many of the accounts are active and if they see a sudden and long-term drop in enough of them, they'll know something needs to be changed.

Ok, deleting all your characters and giving away all your gear, fair enuf, i've considered doing it, but its still not quitting...
Look at how many "Quitters" have come back after a short time... We all know that Guild Wars is like the ugly chick that we'll never admit to sleeping with but we keep waking up next to her cos she's great in bed...

But why do they have to change something once people start leaving? In my opinion long-term drop in active accounts equals less painful way to shutdown servers (which I think will happen once GW2 is running with full speed). They don't get monthly fees from us so no need to keep players busy with new content.
It is wiser to use precious resources into GW2 rather than keeping something old alive.

I'd agree except for the fact that the gW1 servers aren;t going to be closed down due to the link between the two games...
Yes, there will be a player drop between now and gW2 release, but as soon as we know what you get fromt he hall of Monuments in GW2, every new kiddie to the game will be getting GW1 to go fill it up...

Have to remember how big job it would be to fill HoM from scratch, and when GW2 is here - how many will have time to play both games? Benefits from HoM would have to be something really fancy to have such an impact.

Well, technically it wouldn't be that hard.
5 sets of armor
5 titles
5 heroes/minipets
ALL Destroyer weapons
So basically, you have 2 years to collect the cash to put all the Destroyer weapons there, since the other ones can only show 5 things at once...

And new players joining already up and running guilds and those guilds jumping back to help newbies? yeah, i'll be doing it, showing them the "Good Ol' Days" and telling them all the stories from beta, etc...

Yeah, we'll wait and see, but still, it'll still be cool to say, "Yes, you to can have this awesome suit of armour or great Axe, just come and join me on Guild Wars and we'll get it for you"
Plus, its a good way to get people into the lore of the game world they are playing in, especially as it will bring new players

I have all but EoTN and my Paragon has quickly become my favorite character. I'd really love to have a reason to take her through every campaign besides getting a few secondary skills. THey should retro-fit Prophecies and Factions with some Armor and a few Skills for the professions that came after their release. I'd pay for it. I think they could charge more than enough to cover the cost of the labour to make such a change and make some profit to help them cover things until GW2.

Oh Jesus Christ.
Is it really hard to believe that, uh, I dunno, the people at ArenaNet care and want us to enjoy what they've created so far? Is that really hard to imagine?
I can't believe MMO gaming forums sometimes. It's always the same shit, reiterated on a different forum. I remember the Lineage II and WoW forums. It's the exact type of complaining that people do on this forum. There really is no escaping it. Maybe the creators of Lineage II and Wow and ArenaNet are doing things all wrong for not caring (roll eyes), or maybe people to learn to stop crying like little girlies.

Some people believe that the world really does revolve around them. Let them throw their temper tantrum and when GW2 comes out in a couple years when they are older and hopefully more mature, they will still buy the game.
