Anets going to realy struggle to keep people interested in Guildwars if they dont give them somthing to work towards after theyve completed it. Grind = replayability to alot of people , stop kicking up a fuss over nothing you dont need to grind to complete PVE,just let people grind if they want to.

Don't tie skills to it and everything is great. Once you do, you change the balance.
As for grind, I appreciate the title huggers. I love that they get titles that unlock UW and FOW. Without it, I would have to grind, and as already stated, that ain't gonna happen!
Please remember...
I must not GRIND. GRIND is the mind-killer. GRIND is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my GRIND... I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

I totally agree with your statement and plan on doing the same thing.
I am very surprised that anet has fallen back (and keeps adding more) on the coin operated / mmorpg video game mentality of design. Which is basically keep them grinding to keep them paying.
Funny I don't remember monthly fees

Why does Anet care if we are on the servers constantly? We are not paying a monthly fee and the game itself is enjoyable enough to play without unneeded grinding that is just a huge turn off.

Oh, but you get those skills by, what was it again, yeah, the word I am looking for, huh, hmmmmm, yeah, maybe it wa- no, not that, um, yeah grind?

Yeah, lets reward that. (?)

You have to let me know where this so called end game content is. Because i dont see it in GWEN. When you beat the short story and master the dungeons then what? Grind for armor or higher titles? I thought i just said thats Anets idea of end game content.
Oh, Anet cares. They want you to keep playing to buy stuff in the online store. They want you to keep playing to buy extra character slots. They want you to buy another account. I keep retyping this over and over and over and people do not wish to acknowledge it. I, as well as alot of other people have spent more money on this game then paying a 10-15 subscription. I bought 3 campaigns, 10 extra character slots, another account and now GWEN. Well over $300. I know people with several accounts and my guild leader has over 10. The more you keep playing, the more you will buy thier product. Sure its all optional, but alot of people will still be buying those extra character slots because it is something that is needed in most peoples eyes. I am sure there are a few casual players with just one campaign and the original 4 slots. But majority is that you have also bought all campaigns, expansion and character slots. Dont think Anet tricks you into thinking your buying a game for 40-50 for the rest of your life.
With some people saying that they are not buying GW2 or waiting to see if it is a repeat of GWEN

They are now trying to copy or mirror what other successful pve mmo's are doing. (ex. grind) Is this a bad direction? I dunno. GW is based on skill i do agree, but turning the game into a pve machine, gives you little room. There is no advancement for your characters. I do believe that they need to keep the game based on skill, but you also need to better yourself as a toon. Keep getting cool loot, making your character as leet as possible. Customization is a huge part of peoples wish list. I hope in GW2 that there will be a way to obtain higher levels that include more atributes or better stats for your character. I have never liked the idea that your character is maxed out in as lil as 8 hours. But as far as GWEN being a new title grind, i dont believe so, nothing imo is worth grinding really for. Some people say they bought the game for the story, once you have beaten it, you can put it down and play something else. I would rather have some sort of grind that gives rewards, or content for your character. But again, i am not gonna grind for any title that gives me crappy armor or crappy weapons. Its all about if you want to grind. optional

I think the same thing. Like wtf? Seriously. Why do they want to keep us attached? Jeff Strain is pretty damned smart, I don't see why they thought that this would be the best way for us to induldge ourselves.
And if the reason we have grind was because "they were time constrained in the first place", then who's idea was it to add something that NO ONE likes? No one in their right mind likes to grind, so who thought "LOL they'll like this!"? Again wtf. There has to be a reason!!
Hey. Maybe it's to encourage us to use the dungeons? Example:
War: "Man I hate grinding these areas, it's so tedious and boring qq."
Mes: "lol hay dude you know them dungeons give lots of rep they coo go do them."
War: "for real aw thanks wow 3000 points a run WOW thank you mes man!"
Mes: "np."
School starts in like 15 mins and I'm like tired as hell.

Woa, 23 pages of extreeme title hatred. what's the big deal? Completing the game with no rush gives you r4 in all titles (expect ebon vanguard) and that's more then enough for those pve skills to work smoothly. You DON'T need to grind FOR ANYTHING!! If you want armor then complete the game and vanquish 1 area and voila! you are r5!!
Why are you all complaining? Was there a problem with factions and tyria 15k armors? In factions you had to complete the game or few quite challenging mission to get them, and in tyria you had to ascend. If i remember correctly that was quite a work. And here you keep nagging about title requirement for armors/weapons.
You don't want those items, STFU, if you want them, just finish the damn game, it short and NOT THAT hard.

K so GWen was meant to be for ppl who wanted more content and something for ppl to do that doesnt involve re evolving new characters from scratch and takin our current ones to new areas and exploration ... yet most of the posts we ve seen [ which btw is only a week and some change after release] have been rants about grinding this and grinding that ... simply put if its not in u then dont do it.. and with GW2 well off the horizons i dont think time should matter to a title that would seem to take forever to grind out its just like a high rankin HA r 9-12 took them awhile too and it reaped rewards. not to mention give it some time and allow them to work with what they have and improve it, of course there will be some nerfs and buffs that ppl will complain about and love ... its all part of the process.... sure we could use a few reskins and maybe some HM difficulty and in due time im sure they ll deliver something, again some will be pleased some wont we ll come back to the forums and complain somemore only to complain again about whats implemented next... so I Guess to sum this all up
YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PPL SOME OF THE TIME BUT NOT EVERYONE ALL THE TIME. ......

Stop right there. You realize that you are offering, as a suggestion to the Grind, actually stopping playing the game. Correct me if I am wrong, but a better answer would be to, say, advocate to the creators of GW that grind is bad and should be reduced or eliminated?
So, what does that say about him in particular, and the game in general when the best advice this poster has is, stop playing the game?

See, now this is a case of the arithmetic blues. If you have one character, or say an account based-title, then three months of work is more acceptable. But if you are like me, or many of the other posters here, you have more than one (1) singular character. I know people who have 20+ characters.
Lets go back to elementary school, what is 20 x 3 months...... Hm...... Nah that's not grind. What are we thinking? /Sarcasm
Stop the bias against people who have put money into the game! We have multiple characters and accounts, dangit.

Okay, google Advanced Lawnmower Simulator. It is a little known secret, that there is a master server for this online game that tracks your total completions of lawns, and will give you a bonus to your lawnmower speed when you mow every multiple of 500 lawns.
Is this an extension of the game? Is repeated content x 50 really more game? x 500? x 1000?
I have a thought, maybe it is a bit radical or something but maybe more zones and towns would be an extension of the game, as opposed to you re-doing the same thing again and again and again and again?

Ah, the favorite refuge of the pro-grinder. You see there Shogun, no one minds grind for titles or vanity armor. If you want to argue a position, then you have to know the sides, or you end up posting something that everyone agrees on, like this little gem you came up with. Let me shatter your dreams.
You can and should have your vanity titles. We all like that.
What we do not like is the idea that by simply clearing a zone, which a Macro can do better than a human player, you get access to game-unbalancing skills.
Let me use a humorous analogy to show how absurd this idea is. If I go out and use a Macro to clear Drakkar lake again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again, then exactly why does this give me superpowerful skills? I mean, directly from the guildwars.com website:
Guild Wars® is an online roleplaying game that rewards player skill and innovative gameplay over hours spent online.
I, unlike other posters in this forum, expect people to live up to their word. You mean what you say and say what you mean. There are no exceptions, for politicians or Game Designers.
Capisce?
And last but not least, let us dispell some FUD.

Yo. Armor is important. +100 armor party-wide by clearing some random Kurzick or Luxon zone again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again (deep breath) is a bad idea, no matter how you look at it.
It doesn't extend the game. Players should not be told to, say, stop playing because they know it is a bad idea. This does not even account for the supporters of the game who bought extra character slots and extra game accounts. And most importantly, its these jaybirds playing 24/7 having their new +100 armor party-wide who are complaining that the game is too easy. Anybody wanna guess why?
Thanks!

Grind is a repetitive task that requires no thought. You know, like the title huggers like! C, spacebar. That way they can surf the net while hitting C. spacebar once in a while to start it all.

Your theory makes no sense. If the objective is to motivate people to buy more character slots, Anet would want to reduce the amount of grind, so more people would actually run out of slots. As it is, probably a only small minority will ever use up their slots. Either they don't have the time, or they get bored with grinding.

Your assuming that everyone hates grind. There is in fact alot of people enjoying it at this moment (ex. Lair of the Snowmen). My statement was more for hardcore players thinking they are getting a deal by playing guildwars compared to an MMO with a subscription. People who enjoy grinding for titles, or created a new character (hence maybe buying a new slot) for the triple xp weekend for a survivor. Your assuming that most people will be done with GWEN and GW because all it is a grind now. But Anet will think of ways to get you to spend your money. Of course someone is less likely to pay for additional GW accounts or slots because they only play for a short period of time. Anet did bomb on trying to get more people to play by adding bad armors, weapons ect.. and grind to the mix with GWEN. But you will see how much people will try to spend that extra cash in the online store to have the mission bonus pack in November and so on and so on

Your very right, we need to get back on topic. And to say the least, i would recommend everyone to post their actual review of GWEN on the review thread on top of the Eye of the North forum. Maybe even post your honest reviews elsewhere on gaming sites. As far as the grind goes, if there were kick butt armors i would probaly grind and not hate it as much. But i still dont care for mindless grind.
