Pugs would always bail doing Sorrow's Furnance when trying to kill the 3 djinn seemed hopeless too soon. To all those that stayed (I was one of them).

bravery
noun
1. a quality of spirit that enables you to face danger or pain without showing fear [syn: courage] [ant: cowardice]
2. feeling no fear [syn: fearlessness] [ant: fear]
Therefore, joining a pug would never be considered brave for me =(
I got nothing.

When my 5-man capping team in Perdition got swamped by about 3 groups of Flesh Golems and a couple Drakes, but I still had enough healing to keep the whole party alive. Hell yeah.

Mine is more loyalty or determination I suppose than bravery, unless one was role-playing. No real penalty for dying but a loss of time, but most striking to me was a failed PUG I was in. Four of us decided to stay in Abaddon's Mouth after 4 left upon completing the bonus with Leah. Myself as monk with only 7 skills, a ranger, a necro and a warrior, we completed the mission anyway. Hats off to them. Probably my favorite, or at least most memorable, PUG ever.

Wow nice topic, okay I got a good one, at least one I can't forget, I was overwhelmed.
There was a race held by a guild with a fat prize money of 50k. The route was the droknar run, only backwards. We were 7 runners starting from Droknar to reach Beacon's Perch and the 8th party member was the refree. (IIRC it was 3-4 warriors couple o rangers and an ele)
Winning was important for me becuz not only the prize was good but also it would be prestigious to be crowned the champion of running. And I decided to go with the build that was in test phase (W/A with Shadow Form). Anyway the race started and needless to say Snake Dance was a walk in the park for most runners, Dreadnought's Drift was not so hard either, and then came Lornar's Pass.
So the refree called the start and we all dashed, (for those who don't know, most runners know the spawns of popular areas and they run accordingly knowing where to rest and where to step on it) messing up the spawns on the way. 4 or 5 of the runners died before we were halfway, where troll cave was still afar. Then all of us died and respawned at the res shrine in the DDrift end of the map.
The refree called for a go again but we were at %15 this time and the spawn was messed up, meaning groups taking up so much space not letting us stop anywhere to rest. It was once again, a party wipe. We respawned.
IIRC after 2 wipes, with %30 DP I first sucked on 2 candy canes to clear that off (there were no rules about not to do so) then calling to the team to co operate. Cuz even with %10 boost we would be killed with such a messed up spawn no matter what. The team agreed. Thing is I was a W/A, I had nothing to support anyone with.
So we started once again, and when going past this insanely large mixed group I accidentally aggroed this silly Grawl. At that time I was recovering from the HP Drop of Shadow Form and I remember closing my eyes becuz I didn't wanna die. When I opened my eyes I was miracilously alive saved by a fellow runner's smite hex and healing breeze, and the aggro was on someone else. I was so overwhelmed I couldn't hit sprint to get away as far as I can remember.
And u know what? I won that race becuz Jaded Sentinel saved me putting aside all the competition and a large portion of his energy pool not to mention the already low chance of survival. That was the most striking act of bravery I have ever seen.
At the end I couldn't help but share the prize money with him and the runner that finished behind me. I was the only survivor of the race and they actually carried me on their shoulders to the throne, so hats off to you and cheers fellas, clink!
Here's the link to the real thing.

A month or so before Gwen came out, I read about a nifty farming build for a Ritualist. I saw I needed some Prophesies skills to complete the build, so I decided to get "Writ Small" to Ember Light Camp. Although I hero/henched my way through the desert, I had to face my doppleganger alone. After a quick cut-scene, I found myself in The Dragon's Lair with no party members and my little tale begins.
Maybe it was the fact that I didn't already have my heroes and henches in my party. Maybe it was the allure of the cry of "One more for Mission and Bonus - any class!" Against my better judgment, I joined a random pug.
The first question I ask as I scan my team mates is if we are really doing the bonus. "It takes a little planning," I say. "We'll need some good interrupts for Glint," I continue. "I think you have to kill the dragon at the end for the bonus," the leader says. "I never killed the dragon before," someone else adds. "Can we just go?" says a third. I sigh inwardly and load a spirit spam build I use with my heroes and quickly swap in Dissonance. Hope springs eternal. "Ready," I say.
As we materialize at the beginning of the mission, I notice that each one of the three wammos in the group -- every one -- swings a fiery dragon sword. This ought to be interesting, I smile to myself. The next thing I notice is that I didn't bring a rez! Too much reliance on heroes, I scold myself, but there's no turning back now.
One of the wammos plays like a man possessed and races from one group to the next. The real monk and somone's Dunkoro struggle mightily to keep up. The other players beg him to slow down, but he is "fearless." Casualties and the associated Death Penalties mount. The ele is getting hysterical as his growing DP makes him as popular as a wounded fish in a shark tank. Somehow, we stumble our way through and arrive at the final chamber.
As expected, the battle with Glint does not go well. The ele is the first to go soon followed by the Rambo warrior. Suddenly, the monk says "I have no energy!" Glint's uninterrupted Crystal Haze has worked its evil magic on our poor healer. I keep spamming my spirits and keep applying Painful Bond to maximize damage in this hopeless effort. Down goes another wammo. Down goes the monk. Down goes Dunkoro. It's getting lonely, and now I'm really kicking myself for not bringing a rez.
For whatever reason, though, Glint hasn't yet targeted me. It can't be the lack of DP. Is she saving the tastiest for last? There are just two of us left - one of the wammos and me. But here's the strange thing. The wammo is not going down. Glint and the warrior are going toe-to-toe. That little, freaking, fiery-dragon-sword-swinging wammo will not go down. After a minute of watching them duke it out, I realize I haven't cast my Dissonance spirit. I try to not recast my other spirits so fast. After all, Bloodsong, Pain, and Vampirism are taking no hits because, to my surprise, the wammo is solo tanking Glint.
Little by little, the two of us are wearing Glint down, but I notice something else. The wammo is not able to keep his health at max. Each cycle of healing he falls a little further behind. Glint's health is headed south, but so too is the red bar of this unstoppable little meat shield. She seems to get more powerful the lower her health goes. In true photo-finish style, Glint finally has her way with him and he collapses in glorious agony. But he did his job. He wore her down to a thin, red sliver of health, and my spirits finish her off before she can get to me.
The team is ecstatic. Congratulations are being pass around. "That was the greatest thing I've ever seen in this game," someone says. You two are awesome," someone else adds. "No," I say, "thank the warrior. All I really did was watch."

Me, my Guild leader, 3 heroes and a monk hench were attempting Sanctum Cay, him a level 20 W/Mo, me a level 14 R/Mo. Nearing the end where Vazier is summoning the ship, the waves of White Mantle were upon us, quickly we started dropping off one by one having taken very few enemies out, but my Guild leader fought on, fighting off 15+ for what seemed like ages, almost dying but then miraculously reviving himself and fending off the attack. Alas, eventually he too fell...but we made sure we won second time.

Prince Rurik!!!
He is the bravest of the brave. His charging into the char when you and the rest of the henchies regen or try to res is undoubtedly courage beyond all belief.
When me and my Brother clear out Ruins of Surmia in hardmode beyond the draw bridge to keep him alive, then as we pull the lever and run towards the end, he "v"lines toward monsters and dies. That's bravery...
