In one of the mags the Asura mini pet was among the mini pets you can get. So they have probably added the Asura Miniature so that you are guaranteed a mini pet.

And what then for those of use that already have an asura? Would have made more sense to have it guaranteed to get a mini, and then if not one of the "rare" ones then a destroyer would have been better

[I can't view that web-site due to work filters against gaming sites.... though it misses this one, conveniently.]

It's a special GW Edition, not a monthly issue.

I found it today in WH Smiths and can tell you it is NOT a special GW Edition in the UK (it is actually mainly about "The Orange Box").
The offer... There are 5000 (I think, could have been 1000) cards with minipet codes on, some magazines have them in, most don't..... Thats it, Noone is guaranteed anything, worst offer ever, I can't help but feel this is a bit of a joke, considering I reakon 1/2 of the codes will be ditched by people who don't play the game, and a lot of the rest will probably used... to sell the mini on for an insane cost. I really want some of these for my collection, but theres no-way I'm spending £6 on the magazine without a guarantee of a minipet, even if it wasn't one of the best.
And to the person who was one about reading the magazine, I already get other PC Gaming magazines, don't really need to duplicate the "data". (Oh, and this is for the PC Gamer November issue, hoping that PC Zone is different but I HIGHLY doubt it...).

The reasoning behind only 1000 of the rare mini codes is that the other areas that got them only got a few of each, too. It's not like they handed them out by the truckload over in Taiwan either.

oh dear.
first of all, its designed to be a nice bonus. i recognise most people bought it with the aim to get a minipet but its the magazine your buying.
also learn to read the T&C's before you run to the checkout, on the back of the carboard box it says:
(star from the front page bit)* Requires a valid Guild Wars account NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
and the rest doesnt really matter...
Edit: also for those with heads buried in tears you can still enter by post until the 25/10/07. Send something to "Guild wars golden ticket" at some address that i managed to rip off when i opened it. Read the terms in the mag and it'll probs say.
