/facepalm Yes, beautiful strawman.
But it still doesnt answered any of my questions.
What is YOUR proposal?
What were YOU expecting?
Is your character a pivotal figure in the Battle of Jahai?
and finally
Is this "epic fail" a problem of your expectation vs Anet's implementation?
Youre conclusion is based on the presumption that Anet will make "reliving" identical to how foreign chars access early Prophecies missions.

In response to the Time thing.... I think Anet could have made it so our characters/heros/team members...could play through the missions as ourselves. Just put the Heros (Polojoko...Ossri, Togo etc,) as a team member like they do with all the other "team member keep em alive" missions.

Wow, put reading on your skillbar, it's useful
As I said before, I'm not proposing anything- 'time travelling' is already in GW.
How about playing the game with the characters I created?
Ah, I know, crazy idea.

No, he wasn't even pivotal during Rurik vs Charr fight, basically, he wasn't even there but that didn't stop him from playing there.

Yes, I expected AN to understand that when I create my character I want to play with my character.

And yet...it doesnt look like its gonna be in the BMP. So your presumption goes out the window. So what do you propose instead?

Ya that would be pretty cool. But again. Your presumptions appear to be invalidated. How is your presumption Anet's failure?

Indeed. Your only valid point.

Again, Anet not meeting your presumptions is not their fault, considering they never mentioned your character in any of material. Now if Anet said one thing, and then changed things, I would understand being upset. You misinterpreted the really vague descriptions based on presumption.
Now maybe you can get mad at Anet for having vague descriptions (they always do), but anything else is just grasping at straws.
My understanding when i read it was that your character gets to see a "vision" of the past, ala Final Fantasy 8, where Squall sometimes dreams that he is Laguna or something similar to the scrying pool.

The Charr do have guards, you know... guards who would quite happily eat escapees (hell, knowing the Charr that may even be a perk of the job!)...

I'm actually really excited about the BMP. It will be a nice change I think. =D
As for the new items...they may just be the "books" that you have to look into to review the history. Which would be a bummer, but hey, at least they're shiny and new! Overall, it's very exciting.

That's right, it isn't there. There could've been 'time travelling' and giving players the ability to play with their characters but there isn't- a good thing? Don't think so.

AN's failure lies in taking away the ability to play with their characters.

That's not the point. I don't even care if they've said/haven't said that you won't be able to play with your character. The point is, that such a thing in a game where you first create your own character, and then you're unable to play with him/her is bad and it doesn't matter if people know about it or don't.

I'm looking forward to these, and find all the QQing about not being able to play your own characters rather funny. It's a component of the design (and thus, if done well, a component of the fun) to have fixed skill bars for the challenges in question. If you could play them with your own characters they'd be no different than the rest of the game. I think doing something unusual and special for the BMP is a great idea.
This game has the whiniest fanbase of any game I've ever played, despite being one of the best games in my collection. I'm perpetually stunned by that, I guess it's because it's attracted a bunch of MMO players.

LOL. So Anet fails because they chose to design the bonus mission pack to behave differently than what you expected? Do I understand you correctly?
It's their choice that you don't play as your character.
Maybe its for storytelling purposes.
Maybe its so you can really be in "another character's shoes".
Maybe its because they want all classes to have equal chances in a 1 player mission by designing it for a specific character that YOU play as. (I remember the whiny threads about certain griffons...)
Maybe they didnt want certain builds exploiting the enemies in the area.
Maybe they finally will give players a chance to play as a white mantle (since ive seen people request their armor many times....)
Im sure theres a valid reason, but i doubt any of it is "To piss off Black Sephir". Stop acting like a victim and get over it. Youre judging something you haven't even played yet.

How about differently than the whole game?
They didn't give you only Gwen in EOTN and said "play", eh? They also didn't force you to play as Rurik in Proph or Kormir in NF.

I'm sure there is a reason, I'm wondering if it's good.

Um, no thanks, not being able to play with my character in CORPG is a massive failure and I don't need (and won't) to play to realize that.

Go to any intro missions outside of your characters original Campaign. Poof, Time Travel.
EDIT: Bah, someone beat me to it.
Honestly, I expected to play my characters during the Bonus Mission Pack. Reliving past events and such. The only reason I could see setting players with a set-npc's skillbar is so they don't have to balance anything later, according to the missions. And if a balance does need to take place, it will only involve non-player skills. I'm assuming if they do make it set-npc skillbars, its because they don't want you to run up to the armies and be able to Searing Flames the mission in 6 spells.

LOL, cyborg pirates. IMO, it's not a undead ninja, just a sin that has enough sense not to wear giant, clanking blades all over. Though strangely, the design reminds me of the Marvel villain Taskmaster.....And again, I wish I could get that armor for my sin or at the very least the hooded skull(mask)
