I rather like the Halloween event better than Wintersday or...the other ones, simply because I'm usually busy getting ready for the *actual* holiday during the time the event's going on. It's nice to just have to sit through a couple sessions to get the hats, or even just afk while I go carve pumpkins or whatever.
And I really did like that paragon joke. x3

The Paragon joke made me smile because it's true.
Mad King Thorn is my favorite ANet character. I liked the 2 new masks. I especially like the part where I don't have to run around questing for a half hour, but instead party with Mad King for half an hour. It's all in good fun; if you don't like it, you don't have to play.

Glad sweets were introduced, however I'd rather have had them come cheap and plentiful without the modifiers, so I could just chow them down for my title, instead of feeling like i really should be saving them for hard mode.
Would be nice to have quests. Definitely. That's what makes the Canthan spring event shine.
Serioulsy, the event headpieces need to be fully moddable with armor, so we can actually use them, instead of sending them to the festival hats guy, deleting them, and never seeing them again.
The decorations, while as far as I can tell are identical to last year, are fantastic -- the art team is and always has been top-notch. Wish the 'deciders' were half as competent.

I feel kind of gypped that the trick or treat bags only have 1 item in them. It's like of like the guy who made those really tiny candy bars and called them "fun" size.

Partying with MAD KING THORN is kinda fun - not losing in R/P/S is nice. I'm loving the ToT bags - lots of lovely little tid-bits in them.
The paragon/drunkard joke is the funniest one he's got. Glad to see a couple new ones tossed in.
The Masquerade Brawl is a pretty fun time - no pressure PvP FTW! Great addition.

Loved this halloween. I always get a laugh when Thorn says "Jump! NOW!" and all the people who don't get it die in mid-air.
Love the jokes too because of how deliciously lame they are... especially liked the Asura jokes, and the paragon joke was gold XD
Also Huzzah! for entirely new hats, and not another pumpkin design.

A non-grind event..........
*Mad kings says Drink* should be the 1st command and if you aren't drunk, to bad the mad king poisons you. /laugh
Maybe next year the couldren could start creating fog when the Mad kings guard stands, and the mad king could "rise" from the mist instead of *bam* there he is......and maybe turn into a swarm of bats and fly off in a spiraling, separate direction, for visual coolness.
Mad King event scores 9/10.
Favorite quote from RL player during Mad king says, " Did you fail kindergarten?"
to those that emoted when they were not supposed to.

I have no use for those hats. I can't get what I would like - I no longer give a damn. That simple. I started two years ago. It isn't a matter of wanting to show off my starting two years ago, it is a matter of: Every player should be able to get that which entertains them in the game. If they cannot - then it is a bad game design that is prejudicial against new players (which I am not).

But what if some people like the new mummy mask/scarecrow MORE then the pumpkin hat? Should they somehow not be given the opportunity to get the hat they prefer?

Yeah I agree it`s boring I want it to be more like real life with teenage monsters turning up saying trick or treat then grabbing a rather large handfull of sweets from me then turning up 15 minutes later and anonamously egging my windows because I didn`t give them cash for cigs and booze. Wonder how that could be implimented into the game?
Well it didn`t happen this year, guess my kids didn`t pee anybody off for once, phew, lol.

it was a 'nice' event, got lots of treat bags (some with alcohol for when I work on that title)......the hats were ok, nice (yeah that word again) change from the pumpkin (since I have 2 of those) but my monk has clipping issues with the scarecrow. The change of jokes was needed (and yeah nice)....liked the paragon one and the norn one too.
the costume brawl was ok for one or two minutes, then the pvpers took over and no more wins for us pve noobs would be nice if it had not been accessable from temple of balt. so that the pve people could have enjoyed trying out pvp without having to ....welll lets not go there----
am VERY happy halloween happened on a weekday so I could participate (not everyone has weekends off ya know).....so that was you guessed it NICE!

the bonus mission pack is coming.. new missions will come from there. and nobody had to stay afk or even be at the event if they didn't want to. even if there are quests for this event, they'd be repeated like what happens during the dragon festival. people will do them once and get bored. seeing as i'm not paying a monthly fee, i think it's fair that they don't come up with new missions/ quests every festival.

I dont think they should necessarily come up with new quests every holiday. What is wrong with regular quests, easter egg hunts, scavenger hunts, that we can count on and prepare for? What is wrong with setting it up once and for all and having it simply activate on the date in question?
We all know these holidays. A regular holiday quest, items that you can count on (witch's hat, pumpkin head), etc. do not make the season less. Does anyone really argue that you just can't have dinner each thanksgiving, that instead you have to have something else each year? How about, New Years is so trite and boring being at at the same time all the time, lets randomize it to make it more interesting. Or maybe, presents are so cliche for birthdays, lets stop that and start just randomly making new things to do. Maybe we could insist people having a birthday give up a forearm or something, after all we want to be totally original this time round.
Ok, a little bit facetious, but there really is nothing wrong with having reliability and some tradition to all this. Nor should there be any problem with allowing players access to those things from times before.
And I am not saying there can't be something new occasionally. As I have been typing here it occured to me a Norn May Day with May Pole dancing (new dance emote?), goood special spiced flower cider (Frost Ilboga Cider?), and a kind of Norn Olypics with hatchet throwing, caber tossing, lightning dodging, 9 pins, and ofcourse Charr Mudwrestling! (Where the character wrestles a Charr in an arena that has slow and slippery terrain, ) And we do realize one must be inebriated to compete.
Plenty of room for new things. I didnt really care for the dragon fest quests because they were all Nightfall stuff. I wanted Canthan stuff - Factions stuff in my Factions Festival. <sigh emote here>
