Please do not neglect the possibility that the players you want to group with are both, inept plus bad attitude.

Oh, give me the team of newbs from the starting post. Even if we fail it was not all for nothing, at least some things were learned.

I either hero/hench or go with my guild. Either way, I don't have to worry about people being bad or not listening. Win win situation.

I totally prefer polite newbies than jerks ''elitists pro's''.
Sometimes when i see pugs saying ''glf more for x thing NO NOOBS PLZ!'' or something similar i dont ever join them, even if they invite me i don't accept. I never liked that kind of ''elitist pro's'' that thinks that everyone are noobs except themselfs.

Attitude is everything. I don't care about experience level or skills - we were all new at one stage or another.

Aptitude all the way. If a newb wants to learn fine by me but honestly I don't wanna teach him or her.

I'd prefer to party with friendly people regardless of experience in PvE. PvP is essentially similar, but every now and then I team up with someone who seems like an elitist idiot and put up with it.
Oddly enough, I had quite a bit of fun when I met an elitist who actually spent 10 minutes chatting with me about skills before kicking about 15 people for not being good enough, plus kicking other SS'ers in later occurrences as I was around. So it all really depends on the viewpoint really. To all the people who got kicked rather fast, no doubt the elitist was unbearable.

I consider myself to be perma-newb even though I've been playing since July 2006. There is always something new for me to learn; hints, tips and quirks that I can can gather from other players who are willing to share.
So who am I going to listen to? The polite, friendly person or the arrogant jerk; obviously the former
Also I play for fun, I'd rather do a mission/quest with a group of friendly people; having a laugh as we go and fail, than with some arrogant arsehole who'll waltz me through it with masters. Fun is the key, if it ain't fun, I ain't playing. I get enough grief at work every day with having to put up with it in the place I come to to relax and destress.
So for me: Attitude every time.

Attitude
I dislike playing with the arrogant, i'd rather just h/h. At least I have a fun time playing with people with a good attitude even if they do suck as players. If im that serious about getting passed a mission and dont want to risk failure i'll just take h/h.

Attitude I guess. If all I wanted to do was finish a mission or quest then I'd just H/H. Pvp I'd tend to aptitude but I usually go with my guild so I get both aptitude and attitude.

Well guys sometimes you want to do HM missions and most of those are unhenchable. I'd rather have an elitist that is a lot better than the rest of my team but yells at us. Heck dude I don't care if he screams at me I'll just forget him after the mission is done, maybe pm him some hate till he puts me on ignore but thats all.
If I have a newb who just beat the game and wants to do HM and joins my party, hell dude I want someone who can already play. Call me heartless I don't care.

If im in a talkative mood, attitude hands down, but if i want to get something done aptitude, since i can just close down the chat or not say anything. Even though those stuck up guys rage quit and stuff and curse off a lot, its usually the fastest way to get through, plus it gives you a good laugh since you KNOW its a little nerdy kid who has no life

I think the smart people are kind and nice to know, for PVE. I have little experience in PVP, but I guess it's not like that.

Freaky, I understand where you are coming from, but I've grouped with both kinds of people for hard mode and found it easier with those who are "noobs" as they are more likely to listen to what I say then an elitist who thinks they know all. "Noobs" are less likely to rush when told not to rush and more likely to be cautious when the "group leader" is cautious.
Now I'm perhaps taking a more realistic view here, than offered by the OP, in that no everyone will always know everything, and while I'm happy to listen to advice even if it is screamed as abuse, I'm also not afraid of speaking up when something someone says is just plain wrong.
Of course the OP's premise is somewhat extreme and the players you come across are not (usually) going to fit into either group. And then there are the cases of those who are both... But we don't talk about them here

Attitude.
People who call others stupid, dumb etc because they use cheap items/armor are just knobs. I then retaliate by showing the so called "rich person" a full trade window of ecto or a stack or 2 of armbraces they soon shut up.

Yeah dude I see your point but in the rare event where I have to choose I'd still pick the extreme elitist for hm. Usually your elitist will take charge and start directing players. A newb will wait for orders and do exactly what you want (not necessarily bad but I'd rather they know what they're doing beforehand). If your elitist directs you he probably knows what hes doing and will pretty much beat the mission for you.
P.S. How many bugs did you have to exploit to make that much Malice?

Attitude.
Because I pug for social reasons.
And let's face it, you only need 1 good player and 7 others with good attitudes to beat anything in pve.

The elitist with the good bar will play their bar, and do it well, and be an ass about it.
The newbie with the crap bar will play their bar, listen to your directions, execute them poorly, and take much more time than necessary.
If you're going to PUG, aptitude for me is a must.
In HA for me, a bunch of r8 jackasses is way better than going with a bunch of r0-r2's that know squat.
You'll either win 5 matches, lose the 6th and get ragequitted on, or you'll lose 6 matches straight. Sure, everyone's attitude is great, but honestly, who cares?
This applies to PvE as well for me.

Most of the times, the players with the annoying attitudes also suck at the game, so this is irrelevant.
Low Level PvE: Attitude
Higher Level PvE: Iffy, depends, don't want someone who totally sucks, but don't want a total asshat.
