Prophecies is the best in my opinion, cause of the length, story and... well, just the magic of. The only game where levels 10-20 meant anything. Played a large part of it with a new elementalist a month ago, and it was just lovely.
Cantha has the best explorables (Not counting the detestable Shing jea), but low incentive to go in them and explore. Loved Jade Sea and some areas of Echovald Forest, and Kaineng was very daring and worked out well. However, character development was rushed, quests gave excessive xp, and the gates ruined exploring for me.
Nightfall was great. Heroes are awesome, enough to make it #1. Loved Istan, and the first time I did Consulate Docks it was just awesome. However, RoT and some parts of the Desolation aren't much fun in my opinion. Beauty and scenery > gloomy, scary appearance imo.
EotN has Dungeons, which are just awesome. However, the replayability is low. I probably will only play it once or twice, the difficulty only allows my best chars to play it, and I dislike the fork system.

Definately factions, then Prophecies/GWEN, then last but not least Nightfall.
I love the Jade sea and Mount Quinkai, Cantha is the only place i have protector and im pretty close to 100% exploration. (97.5%).
I just love roaming through the hills, or over the jade sea.
GWEN had some good quests, and i have nostalgic memories of my early days as an ascalonian recruit trying to find his way in this big ol' world.
*sigh*

For me it goes:
EotN > Factions > Prophecies > Nightfall
There are actually some parts of Nightfall I like more than Prophecies, but the environments and story of Proph are both better than NF. The things I hate most about Proph are 1) too many monsters popping out of the ground, 2) some areas look drab compared to the later campaigns and 3) how easy and one-sided most monster encounters are when you are running with heroes and skills from all campaigns.

I liked em all
but heres how I rank em
1. Nightfall (for heroes and replayability)
2. Faction (for Fort Aspenwood, keeps me playing GW more than anything else)
3. Prophecies, best chapter for 1st time experience but otherwise not much to do unless you pvp or farm or hang in presearing
4. GWEN - fun but low replayability in contrast to other chapters

I absolutely agree. Its a real shame that most people dont recognize the creativity of the teams that created the Jade Sea/Echovald Forest. I remember when i first saw the Jade Sea - my jaw was glooed to the floor. Still after months of playing whenever i venture into it i cant help stoping from time to time to admire the scenery. Ahh...
And i dont find factions to be a short campaign. It sure is fast paced, but for someone who plays gw 2 or 3 hours a day it certanly isnt short.
On top of that the ritualist is a very fun proffesion to play, assasin too.
The icing on the cake is that i really love asian cultures in general.
So my list would be Factions -> Prophecies incl. EotN -> Nightfall

I LOOOOOVED Factions. Cantha is the best addition to the GW world. The elite missions are fun and challenging - the first of their kind, SF, FoW and UW don't count - normal mobs, normal strategies there. The scenery and the culture feel inspired by Cantha felt truly real compared to other campaigns. I liked the asian tones and the the general feel of the campaign. Every part of that land is something special to me and the soundtrack was simply the best. Cantha also has the best PvP. Shame it was so short. I liked the story.
Prophecy was good too - nice scenery, nice world to explore, Charr are really cool, story was kinda horribly - prophecy aspect with glint etc was cool but the actual reality - the Lich - was just dumb.
GW:EN was fun at first but got pretty average pretty quick, not worth the money imho and the ending was one of the biggest dissapointments in any computer game, tv show or movie I have ever seen - it was a HORRIBLE ending, armour reskins, pet reskins all very lame. The best feature of GWEN was the dungeons for casual repeated raids and the return to Tyria, which was kinda ruined by the introduction of the Norn and Asura.
NF was just horrible - scenery was ugly and unimaginative, realm of torment is a bore and heroes killed the pug. DoA is nice though, even though it's ugly. Istan is the single most painful part of the GW universe, I will create a character anywhere else simply to avoid having to play through Istan - it makes me want to cry. A lot of areas in NF were like this but Istan was especially bad. The stark contrast between the Crystal Desert and the Desolation seemed pretty out of synch to me as well.
EDIT: Factions would have been better with the removal of gates. Mount Quinkai ROCKS! and I LOVE the Luxons. I REALLY missed the slow level progression from Prophecy and wish it had remained in Factions. This was the biggest flaw to Post-Prophecy games and why I think so many people prefered Prophecies.

IMO the games got worse as they progressed - just look at the length of time prophecies was around for before an expansion came out - It had everything i enjoyed in a game - the openess of the game play, the fact that you dont have to play through the whole story like 4 times just to get a set of armour on each character and the fact that it was so original. The factions i really enjoyed but the slowing down of the character progresion really annoyed me. NF... i just dont like deserts :P n GWEN ... I dont really like the game play style. The multi-leveled dungeons arnt like the elite missions from Factions - ther no particular "starting place" imo.

1. NightFalls, love the campaign and heroes
2. Prophecies
3. Factions, I am starting to like the missions but I find the layout is very dull and hard to find.

My fave campaign is definately Factions. Beautiful scenery, cool storyline, etc. Nightfall is a close second, due to heroes, easy access to max armor (ferry to the docks), awesome storyline, and prettier faces and such than Factions in my opinion. Prophecies has pretty character choices and some of the best armor, but it's my least fave. My faves go in alphabetical order by campaign and continent:
Factions (Cantha), Nightfall (Elona), Prophecies & GWEN (Tyria)
Here is a more detailed review:
Prophecies
Okay so most of the people on here keep saying that Prophecies is their favorite campaign and the best. One question...WHY?!
Prophecies to me is the most annoying. It's too long, takes forever to reach level 20, is harder than hell to get max armor and your 30 extra attribute points, the storyline is confusing (starts with Charr, then Stone Summit, then undead, then Mursaat/Jade Armor, then Glint, then Lich...). And Pre-Searing? Gag, no storage, nearly impossible to get Legendary Defender of Ascalon, and there's no end game green (just stupidly annoying hard quests).
I don't mind the campaign, but only 2 of my 12 characters is from Tyria, and that's my main one. She's the only one that's beaten that campaign at all. The second is a mesmer working on the LDOA title but I don't see it happening, as it's such a pain to get.
Factions
So many people I talk to hate Factions. My question is why? Factions is the most beautiful in my opinion, has one of the best storylines, doesn't have boring repetitive starter quests (like Nightfall's Istan ones), etc. The only thing I don't really like is that the faces don't really have any blue eyes (they're all brown, which is consistent with the Asian theme, but so is dark hair and blonde hair was included, so...yeah). To me they're all really ugly except a select few from the ritualist. And of course Zen Daijun is uber annoying unless you have a level 20 with heroes with you. But I love the whole Luxon/Kurzick thing, the beautiful scenery all around, and the cool story. I don't know why so many hate Factions. It's my favorite campaign.
Nightfall
Awesome campaign! It would be my favorite if not for the large number of tediously boring quests in Istan. Same with Kourna (and Kaineng Center) but that's okay because I use the coins and imperial commondations to make money. And the Realm of Torment makes it even lower on my faves list. It lives up to its name. I can't survive out there for the like of me. I might try Domain of Anguish now that I'm a rank 8 Lightbringer but I'm not holding my breath. The introduction of heroes was a great idea (especially for people like me who don't like PUGs), except for the fact that some were required for certain things, like missoins. Sometimes I'd get hooked on certain heroes and just keep using them, not leveling up the others. So I'd have to struggle through a mission with a low level hero or find someone with a good one. But still, Nightfall is my second fave campaign.
Eye of the North
This isn't a campaign but I still liked it. Granted it took place in Tyria again, and it's my least fave campaign, but it did introduce the new races. I liked that. But what I didn't like was how you'd have to farm your butt off to get armor you were looking forward to, then it was all reskinned. And the Hall of Monuments was a disappointment, what with heroes having to have armor upgrades to display and then they didn't even show up ,customized mini pets (though they fixed it now), Destroyer-only weapons, and only maxed titles. And some of the quests were downright ridiculously hard (like Heart of the Shiverpeaks). Dungeons were a cool new addition, if you had the patience to fight your way to the end with 60dp for some of them. So this one is probably tied with Prophecies for my least fave, or perhaps a little bit above simply because of the new heroes. Xandra is easier to get than Razah for a ritualist hero, and Anton is cooler than Zenmai in my opinion. And Livia is by far the best necromancer hero. hehe

Factions and Proph. I disliked the STORY of the dueling houses in Cantha, but I liked Shiro and I loved the Kurzicks, and the whole Echovald and Kaineng areas. Prophecies had the only truly interesting story and variety that the others didn't. Nightfall was just boring and everything looked the same, Margonites and Undead seriously piss me off. Krytan undead aren't included in that, because they don't rez. x-x
Tender Wolf, the reason being is because everything wasn't handed to me all at once, and all the different enemies/allies was the BEST part. They were all completely different.

Proph- Pre searing + Jungle
Factions- Forest
Nightfall- Desolation + Vabbi
Gwen is just a letdown.

Crystal Desert. Almost puts a tear in my eye when i think of my old ranger, how happy he was running through the sandy dunes, schorching sun on his back and the clingy music in the background, plus a devoted pet kitten by his side, running with the grace of a ballet dancer. *sniff* i miss the old days...

I like proph (i will proably say about EotN when i start it)
the environment is very worldly... many environment changes and such. It is very fascinating. Unlike in Nightfall how its just a lot of sand. Or in factions how its a city, a black forest, or some stoney-ocean with grass.
proph has soo much more than that. Also the storyline is the coolest imo. The game is amazing when it comes to quests, mishs/bonuses, story, boss fights. Unlike shiro, the lich actually takes time and strategy to kill. Unlike abaddon the lich actually moves around *sheesh*

Factions/Nightfall. Of the two, Factions has a slight edge for atmosphere and Nightfall makes up slightly for the dreaded grind with features and a more positive reward balance.
Prophecies feels too dated these days and GW:EN p'd me off every which way. I'll agree with all the positive comments on pre though, that place still has a great atmosphere - it's the slow, dusty road beyond that feels a bit jaded to me.
