Another Long time GW player leaves for somthing better.
Great fun when it lasted, so long, and thanks for all the fish.
After a long commitment since GW went live, 4,000 + hours and 70 + titles spanning across 10 characters one of each class. I am leaving Guild Wars. Now before you troll me ask yourself do you have 10 maxed out (as in every primary skill unlocked and available) characters with over 70 + titles with 4,000+ hours played? BTW yes I have a life outside of GW TYVM. By now I can honestly say that I know the game well and am very disappointed in its current form.
At one time ANet had me sold on a Skill over Time game, and that game is no longer Guild Wars. I’ve left this game for a game entrainment investment, I will not be returning to Guild Wars and might not return to Guild Wars 2 as the taste of what this current game has become is now completely sour in taste. If I am to grind than I just assume play a game that rewards for grind better than what ANet has to offer. Grind is the way of the Future of all online gaming it seems no matter how I look at it. That little gem of a great game called Guild Wars died months ago with the introduction of grinding for PvE power only it took me months figure it out.
It’s sad that you can no longer learn a skill and use it at its full strength just by attribute point placement, now you are forced into PvE grind titles almost impossible for the average GW player to attain with multiple characters.
What happened to skill over time?
It’s a shame you cannot separate PvE from PvP but I guess that’s why so many of my friends have left GW for other games. Furthermore you have literally ruined every class I enjoyed playing in your game in one way or another and class options invested in long ago are no longer worth the effort put into them.
Necromancers have no “feel” anymore you could have made wiser choices when designing the Soul Reaping change for the Necromancer but instead you chose something so stupid, my Necromancer has lost its entire PvE environmental “feel”. Even a reduced energy gain of 1 to 4 points from a killed opponent would have been a better environmental feel than the current status of Soul Reaping that rewards ever so often and maybe on Mondays.
Warriors have lost their notch in the world whereas any other classes can withstand damage just as good of not better than they can. With Armor stacking gone the true task of Armored Warrior is all about damage mitigation from enchantments not Armor that any other class can utilize. You failed at making a true Armored Warrior. Stance Tanks are a thing of the past with stances reduced to impractical PvE usage. Spacificly your durations for most stances suck now compared to stance tank builds of GW early on. There is no TANK feel to the Warrior any more.
Paragons are now only useable in a very few select builds with almost every skill in the Paragon line up reduced or penalized (cracked Armor anyone). Your choices for corrections on this class were flawed from the beginning. The Class idea of a mid range buffer itself was not flawed only how you implemented it. Leadership should never have been given the energy return that has caused this class to sustain the kind of skill nerfs that you have given it. Your test crew should have spotted this early on and made the appropriate corrections.
My beloved Ritualist that was so intriguing when first created has been reduced to a pile of rubbish with very few viable roles now. Yes you improved the Restoration process one year ago only to end that advantage with improved healing abilities of the Monk. The Communing line that was so beautiful and attractive when first used is now basically worthless. Your move of Blood Song was so odd that even though a 90-page forum discussion protest that AwL was a far better choice simply could not get your attention. In about one years time I’ve yet to use a communing Ritual other than Pain and Shadow song. All other Spirits in the communing line have become virtually worthless in a PvE environment even more so with a –50 penalty in Spirits health thus reducing the duration to mere seconds.
You had promised changes to the Mesmer that would entice the PvE community to desire them more. This never happened, the community still rejects this wonderful and complex spell-casting concept. No matter what was done the Mesmer would always be a last choice for PvE offensive spell caster option when joining a pick up group.
As it is I’m done with Guild Wars done with Grinding for poor rewards. Done with ANet penalizing the community for foreign gold farmers. Done with ANet penalizing the community for others duping exploitation. I’m done with a lack of PvP and PvE separation. I’m done with your dumb in game PvE power for grind choice of play. I’m done with discovering Armor I can afford only to be forced to grind over time, for a white washed crappy painted over armor skins for multiple classes that were ruined in PvE by PvP skill nerfs. I’m done with this community constantly being hostile to everyone who’s class ends in /mo. I’m done with people who have no life that can take the time to group thinking that they are elite for some reason. When there are real people just trying to have a little fun with an online GAME. I’m done with a PvX wiki community that insists they know the game better because they got PvP emotes from playing PvX wiki builds, or they posted their opinion on wiki about skill balances and then tells the remaining PvE community how to play the game the way the PvX wiki community wants it played. WIKI as good as it was for most of the game FOR THE LOSS with skill over build thinking FTW.
Furthermore what happened to the old [BRING ME 5 OF FROSTED GRIFFEN WINGS FOR A SCALP DESIGN]? Wow imagine that… max head gear armor for only 5 easy to find collectable items. How cool was that! It was awesome! True evidence of Skill of Time from a collector even for max armor for any class! I could find things and get armor for any character or multiple characters for just 5 simple items with little to no time investment. Not this [BRING ME 100 OF THESE ITEMS THAT ONLY DROP ON TUSDAYS AND ONLY ONCE WHEN YOU COMPLETE THIS DUNGEON FOR THIS BLINDFOLD] crap.
What happened to the soul of Guild Wars? It was so wonderful in the beginning. Everyone enjoyed PUGs. Everyone enjoyed having “whatever or whoever” join up for the simplest missions.
I’ll tell you what happened, it died months ago and I just now realized it for reasons stated above. So good by again as I will be joining the many others who at least get what they paid for at the price of 2 Big Mac meals a month.

I love you all.
Before the mods close this thread for a lack of discussion. Here is something for you to discus. How many of you know of people who have left this game because of ANets choices of game direction and ask yourself this one good question.
Was it really good for the game?
If someone was to pick up Guild Wars and play it now what could you honestly say about the game from a PvP or PvE enviroment that makes the game desirable now. Can you honestly say the game is skill over time?
Considering where the meta game is currently at for both PvP and PvE. What would you do to entice old players to return even to Guild Wars 2?
Give Anet something to think about. It is my belief that only by returning to some core game fundamental design choices that were in Guild Wars Prophecies will Guild Wars prosper again.
Until that happens GW1 is officially over. At least with me it is.
Free Play is not everything for a great game experience.
