I was going to get for my monk...seems the most deserving..then I wanted for my necro as that one seems even more deserving because it actually works for whatever ecto I get with that char...
Then I decided not to get any at all. I'm going to take my 104 ecto and 135 shards and sell them, and get alot more cool stuff for all my characters than just one set of armor for one character that I may or may not get bored of down the road.
I don't like too many obsidian armors for male characters...they all look strange to me.

I own warrior and paragon obsidian sets and I'm very happy with them. My warrior is also my main character, just like in your case, and while I admit it has its flaws, I still wear it most of the time (maybe because I wanted it so much).
If you want to buy it for the looks, get the one you like the most. And the fact that a lot of people already have it isn't a reason not to buy it: the game is out for over 2 years, it's normal that a lot of people got the money to buy their favorite sets.
I hope this helps. And please don't dye it black, no matter what set you choose.

I answered your poll of what FoW armor I would like.
Ritualist, IMO, has the best FoW armor. It's a shame you don't like playing a Rit, they are quite fun, and have some of the best armor in the game (Norn Rit armor is my second favorite).

Pudding! Imo you should get it for the character you play the most. I used to play my female ele and got her one, then my necro also got her set, then finally my female warrior after getting bored of the other professions. Now I play my warrior the most. So thats three Obsidian armors total. Planned on getting a fourth one but kept the ectos instead for highend trades. Main characters are the ones to get the armor for. If anything, get another set for another character in the future.

Get what you like? Its all FoW comes down to really. Three experiences:
I first purchased FoW for my female warrior as for a long time she was my main. I like how it looks on a female warrior much, much better than on a male character (however its my preference as I can say this for almost all characters), but its now become less favored. I only got it because she was my main at the time and I wanted my main to have FoW. Period. I dont play her as much anymore and there are other armors I'd prefer her to have. My favorite at that time was female ele. The only reason I didnt get it for her was she was not as developed a character and I wasnt playing her anymore. I am playing her now and in retrospect I wish I had it for her instead.
I then started playing my monk a lot, and then exclusively. She quickly became my favorite. She is now who pursues the majority of titles. She bought FoW because despite my experience with my warrior and tides changing, I absolutely loved female monk FoW. Didnt matter to me who had it, how many had it, if anyone cared. It simply was my favorite monk armor in the game and is still one of my favorites.
I'm currently, finally, playing my ritualist a bit when Treya has a little down time. She's new, so she's less developed than any character. While it'd be silly in a lot of ways to consider FoW for her, its the next set of FoW I want as its my favorite armor of all the ritualist armors available. Because of my experience with my ele, I am comfortable just going for it simply because I like it. Amount of time I play the character, how developed they are, who cares really? Cant say I'll actually get it, just that I am musing it over and I have a long way to go if I would wish to. My other characters are set with what they have and dont need FoW (save my ele maybe one day getting it finally), so why not on my ritualist? She'd be happy.
Moral of three examples: Tides change and so will what character you play and favor, as well as what armors you prefer. My monk's FoW remains in favor for me, but she spends as much time wearing something else, if not more time, than she does actually wearing it. You basically cannot, and I would argue must not, go by others' opinions on FoW. Get what makes you happy and make sure it does. Dont let other reasons influence. Just realize you're very likely to use a couple characters and even store your FoW for some time in favor of wearing something else. No one armor set makes you happy for good (at least in my experience). My monk has five and she'd have more were it not for the fact that storage is an issue and other characters want a couple sets too.

If you love your warrior the most, and you're going to get it for him anyway, get it for him.
But if your tricked-out warrior is ever in my party, and we need you to bring a skill you haven't unlocked, there will be hell to pay.

Get it for the character that you like playing the most.I got 3 sets, and 2 of them are on characters that are collecting dust. In fact my main is one of those two, so you shouldn't look at exp/titlles/gear. Get mesmer male Fow Btw.

I can't really help except say maybe the warrior is not the way to go.
I see warrior FOW armour a lot in the game and it makes me giggle.
I've often heard them described as a garbage can suit.
Although the shoulders look neat in my opinion.

Most FoW armor is hideous. Get Primeval armor for your Warrior. Get FoW for another class. I have all female characters just because I hate the way male armor looks. Also...cuz I'm a girl too.

If you have a male Elementalist this is no choice at all - there are no other armors that doesn't look ... queer on a male elementalist!
Get Destroyer Gauntlets to go with that and dye the FoW orange - looks amazing!
If you want a 2.nd choice - Male Monk!
(Also just so happens that those two are the characters I personally have FoW on )
(ranger FoW and Warrior FoW is boring imo)
A buddy of mine bought FoW for his female ranger and dyed it brown! He thinks it looks like suede - the rest of us thinks it looked like he went swimming in human waste! Brown dye has subsequently been renamed after him!
(No names - he'll know it's him if he reads this )
Agree with the whole - "don't dye it black" thing!
Cheers!

Get it for your main character. Kinda lame to buy it for someone you don't like to play.

Male warrior Obsidian Armor reminds me of the Michelin Man.
Dye it white and you can sell tires.
