Default Has anyone considered quiting GW because of lag issues?

As the title suggests, would anyone consider quiting because of this issue? I do a lot of UW runs myself and find that 90% of the time I lose because I get stuck behind an enemy or stuck on a wall because of mobs because of lag etc.

Even though I am clearly seeing that I have cleared and ran off....for me personally this is a major turn off in the game, since I am wasting a lot cash trying over and over again, seriously I think ANET should do something about this issue because personally it drives me up the wall.

Other then that the game is wonderfull

Pol

PS: I have a 4 megabyte connection which has been more then good since the 2 years I have been playing gw

I'm on a 20mb connection, So I can't say that I have got a lot of lag, though around events it tends to get very laggy wich can be very frustrating on FoW/UW runs but I don't think i'd quit the game cos of it.

Is this about getting stuck while running past the second group of aatxes?

If so, couldn't you just change the running path a bit?

Indeed, don't hug the wall that much and don't give the aatxes the chance to bodyblock you..

And no, I wouldn't quit GW over it.

Not really, you learn to avoid getting stuck and notice when you do over time. It's not that big of a deal.

I only lag during holiday events, the rest of the time my connection holds up fine.

In fact I dont hug the wall, its not just uw farming really, I am talking in general terms of gameplay. Its quite frustrating to just see you got away from a mob when you are "teleported" back to the space were you thought you previously escaped from

I do find lately that people have a great deal of lag issues, this is just one example that really puts people off the game in general etc.

I am on 512k connection, although the lag is extremely YUCKY sometime, (50k ping) I don't have 90% of the time getting stuck. probably 30-35% of the time I may get that extraordinarily huge lag spike which was also the cause of my ritualist losing her survivor title just 2k shy of level 2 .... but definitely not 90% of the time like OP say.

Lag is server side most of the time.

If it costs me my LS title, now that I'm so close to getting it then, yes, I'd probably rage quit for a few days but I'd be back.

Twice in the last week I've gotten d/c'd in combat on this char and just this morning, after killing Bazzr, the hench started slide-showing around me; I immediately mapped back to town, wasting a scroll in the process.

I do agree that servers are the main issue here. I am sure everyone remembers the rediculously awfull lag that the game was experiencing a few months ago.

Although, I do think this is a seperate issue then anything that involved the last "lag saga" so to speak

I just feel that ANET should do something about this, I dont think this a huge issue to be honest but it can be frustrating for the new player thinking that this is normal and being put off by the game.

Sometimes I have considered it. Really, it bothers me that the game gets almost unplayable, even with full specs met sometimes.

I quit for the evening, on the very rare occasions I encounter it. Then I come back the next day. I very rarely find the game unplayable, but yeah, if it affected my gameplay constantly I would probably dwindle into nothing. Then again, I have a more varied agenda than repeating the same farm path over and over, so maybe I just don't notice the irritation.

Lag has been bad enough at times for me to close GW for the evening and go do something else, although that hasn't been often enough to make me want to quit playing the game forever. My connection is up to the job, so it's server-side issues that mostly cause me grief.

Mostly around events, i.e. 9 nine rings events. Really, there is no point in playing the game properly (as opposed to AFKing) during shing jea boardwalk, which is very frustrating. For the past few days, I've been experiencing some pretty poor lag, no matter where I am ingame, which is annoying, but I'll persevere for now.

A long time ago when it was just prophecies i quit for about 3 // 6 months because the server/s connection from my home euro/uk to american servers for me was very bad and i could not change back at the time I could not play at all because the lag was so bad

I occasionaly popped on and off for a few days after i noticed an update on the network page on guildwars.com saying there was some server upgrade/fixes and it's been perfect ever since I hope nothing like that ever happens again, it pretty much ruined a good game for me at the time.
