Well since it quoted lineage exclusively, I doubt it has much to do with anet. We shall see.

Well, if NCsoft moves to a different direction Anet won't be supported by them anymore and Anet will either:
a) have to support itself on it own two feet (ROFLMAO)
b) different management (could be very good or be very bad)
euther way its not good with GW2 fastly approaching.

Of course not,I mean, you wouldn't have to worry about anything when your major publisher decides to get out of the video game business, especially when you're not makin a seq-
owait.

People need to stop making mountains out of molehills. Seriously. Second topic on this. Where in the link did you read that the gaming divisions will be closed? It is a shift of focus, granted. The article doesnt make it clear though that they are leaving gaming entirely.
Edit: And yes, of course, Anet could easily get the GW franchise published by someone else. GW2 is so far off it actually wouldnt really surprise me.

They are only the publishers. I am sure ArenaNet can find another publisher if need be.

That's nothing special.
Social networking is the current buzzword and everyone is doing it. It's the same thing as shift from single-player to online.
Soon, all online game publishers will have social network presence to tie their games. In smaller extents this is happening already with SOE's station, WoW's armory, PS3's Home, and others.
It's just the next step. Games alone cannot cover the development costs anymore.
But the conclusion is right. Social networking is currently the domain of low-cost start-ups. Then again, there were rumors a while back about NCSoft selling or licensing its games to other publishers. If they get out of the business, it would make sense to let others handle games, while they focus on other stuff.

It could get sold off. Let's see, who likes to buy bargain bin studios... Right... SOE.

Considering the success of Guild Wars, I'd be amazed if they pulled a fallout on this.

Successful compared to what? In terms of a game, yeah. In terms of an MMO, eeeh.

I do believe this means NC Soft owns it. ( could be wrong though)

Well of course in terms of a game. The business model says it is just that. The players turned it into an MMO. GW2 will probably start out as an MMO, and we'll see how well that does and judge it on that merit.

Another person who shares my exact same view.
In terms of a game, 3.5 million copies is good! That's a lot of dough. But in terms of an MMO it's barely above being a failure.

This is why GW2 will do much better than GW.
