last offer was:
Quote:
100k+1250e+panda+dedicated Ghostly+Vizu+Gold Mini Pig+100 armbraces.
|
but the guy soon restracted to buy a Plasma Blade, which is a collector weapon (according to Wiki). Is it a joke or what?
Yesterday, I saw the guy selling that Eternal Blade in Kamadan D1 and I was "wow new sword?" and asked to see. The seller was nice to show me and told me the asking price of 1500e+50e. I almost fainted to see the shocking price and now current offer is way beyond that (if my math is correct). If I bought it I would make some stacks of ectos as benefits. Never mind cause I will never be able to get that kind of money even though I have 3 FOWs from long time farming and power-trading.
Damn that sword looks sick. Is it still dropping or it only dropped once long time ago? Me and my brother may finally have the reason to clear UW. What's best team build to do there (not full 8-man team but 2 man + H/H)? We tried B/P Tomb team build. It worked okay but had a bit of trouble killing smites.
I still have 1 stack of ectos dont know what to do. If its price ever goes down to around 1 stack, I may consider buying it instead of farming my life off.

Don't count every thread in High End as a new seller or even a new item. A lot of the regulars to the banned queue will have other accounts or will get friends/guildies to sell their items.
lol! fake bid..just as I said

Actually, increasing the number of transactions in the economy suddenly is likely to screw it up in the short run. Or so say the monetarists.
The problem that the economy faces is that there simply are no gold sinks that are anywhere near as attractive as the super-rare items. There's a reason for this - the gold sinks are available to all, so they produce less significant status symbols. FoW armor, Chaos Gloves and the like don't even begin to scratch the surface of keeping up with ecto creation. At the end of the day there 3 things that require sinks:
1) Ectos
2) Armbraces
3) Gold
as these are the currencies in which in-game trades are denominated.
If sanity is to return, stuff that armbraces can be traded in for needs to be created; the catch is that people need to like them a LOT more than they like armbraces.
The new items would have to be new weapon skins/pets/title items/consumables/what have you, in order to avoid crashing other markets.
I think we can all agree on the probability of this actually happening, given the shift in focus to GW2 development.

Unless he lied to you. People do that. Someone with an item like that is particularly likely to do so, as exploiting information asymmetries is how you make BIG money trading.
I'd be surprised if the sword sells for anything even approximating that bid.

It just started dropping; apparently it will only drop from the end chest, so you have to compete all ten quests down there for a shot at one.

More gold sinks just create more reasons for people to buy/dupe items.
They could add an UW armor, but people would just use this as an excuse to buy more gold.
It's a never ending circle.

Money is easy to make in GW. Everything depends on who you know, and what you know.
There is also little groups of trade "buddies" that artifically inflate the price of their friends items with fake bids. One of the main reason guildies can not bid on each others items in High End.
Welcome to the trade world.

Yep I've got my eyes on that thread cause of that (lol plasma blade). The shill bidding is one of the reasons I stopped bothering with highend trades on here. It happens too often.

Make all the rare skin weapons buyable from merchants/crafters/collectors for less than they are going for in bids (but still a lot, in ectos, armbraces, etc) so that the vast amounts of wealth used go out of the market instead?

All true, but if I observe:
3-5 Vizus perma on the first few pages, vs. rare Beetle/Panda sales
Vizu repeatedly being used as currency in trades (by multiple bidders?)
then this can be fully explained neither by the repost hypothesis, nor by the "undesirable" hypothesis. The frequency of attempted sales/use in trades is just too high unless several of them actually change hands weekly.
Contrast with Mini Ghostly. There have to be WAY more than 39 out there at this point; the price range is similar. Yet the frequency with which those go up for sale/are included in a bid is much lower.
The behavior just doesn't make sense given the information. (Why would good traders still own Vizus? Shouldn't they have exited from ownership already if market demand/value is dropping, given the informational advantage? Why would a trader that owns a Panda ever accept one?)

Attractive until the market price dips below the trader price (which would be nearly instantaneous). Then the mechanism stops working for you.
Worse, the lost consumer surplus resulting from the massive devaluation of stuff people own would have players howling for ANet's blood.
Even worse, some people have informational advantages, and would utilize them to dump their affected stuff on the market and leave others holding the bag.
Not worth the cost from ANet's perspective. True, it institutes a price ceiling on rare items. However, unless you're prepared to make low req unconditional weapons available at the traders, there would still be stuff out there that cannot be provided through the trader system.
Let me be the first to suggest that ANet NOT do that...

Heh this says everything. People who duped/bought gold suck at trading, so if you see something like you described you know they are not legit.
I laugh when I see people say "I sold this to you, but I miss it" then they go and bid more then what they sold it for (just so happens this was a Vizu sell also)

I remember when ectos were 100gp each and how many of us bought tons of them at that price. It was some economic reset and those online when it happened made a killing on getting stacks and stacks of ectos. But, the other stuff like the gemset items yeah those would take some time to collect but how longs it been since NF release a year now? I think someone dedicated to a years worth of collecting them could have stacks and stacks by now.

See this is what i am talking about. I have followed the dupe thread since it broke and Undeadgun has mentioned these two players over and over again as has Max i think it was. WHY is it that these two players are still in the game with over 800+ Armbraces. I know that Gaile Grey has asked for an ID on these 2 players and i feel pretty confident that they have been reported but yet they are still in the game. There has to be some reason that this is true.
http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...e+undead+gu n
Check out that thread... but as Undead has said they are still here and among us!

I am not saying because someone has xxx ectos...shit i have over 300e i know no big deal...but its a great deal more than most players....I am saying when someone has 300+ armbraces (800+ confirmed by Undead Gun) then there is a problem. A stack of ectos equals 4.16 armbraces at 60 ectos per armbrace...u do the math... 300 x 60 = 18000 ectos? thats 72 stacks of ectos ....at 4k per ecto you are looking at 72 million gold....and the ecto is worth atleast 4.5 800 armbraces= 192 million gold or 48000 ectos or 192 stacks.
