Long time? Two months is hardly a longtime commitment. I don't go to Gamestop two weeks after they have a sale on a console and complain that I couldn't buy it because I wasn't a longtime customer of Gamestop. I don't go to a Grocery store 2 days after they have a sale on bananas and scream at the manager for the discount because I hadn't shopped there before. Why should this be any different?

I didn't know what the contents were going to be either, but I took the risk. You didn't, but you deserve the same reward? I like having a box too, but if Areanet did start selling the BMP, whether it be in the in-game store or at retail stores, they will only end up hurting their original in-game store customers. Selling it separately would only screw over people who legitimately qualified for it. Sound like something you'd want your company to do?
Would I have bought the game (EotN) from a retail store if I had known they were going to sell the BMP at a later date in the in-game store? You bet your ass I would, regardless of cost. But the promotion was specifically worded saying that purchasing it from the in-game store was the only way to get it.

a) It was going to be 4 missions with unique rewards. They SAID THAT.
b) Welcome to the future of gaming. Digital Distribution. Wii's Virtual Console. Xbox360's Live Arcade. Sony's Playstation Store. Steam. Cut out the middleman. Don't feed *mart.
c) A lot of people shared that sentiment.
You may or may not regret not getting it, but its all about the choices you made.

Because bananas aren't new? And they always repeat these sales ^^
No need to get worked up.

They were pretty vague about what we were getting. And considering the recent quality of the products recently, would it have been surprising if all we got were three basic missions, and a couple of reskinned weapons as a reward?
I got GW:EN far cheaper from the place I bought it from, and was unwilling to buy extra character slots just to fulfill a promotion, which could well have ended up being garbage. Is it so offensive to you that other people still want to enjoy it? How will it effect you in anyway if the rest of us eventually get a way to enjoy the same content?

I usually do want to know what I'm buying before I buy it, yes.
But on the other hand, I'm waving to A-Net here, saying Hey, I've got money and I want to buy your product, should you offer it for me to purchase. Should they not take it?

As far as I can see the majority of the /notsigned players are people who have acquired the BMP. Good for you, I'm sure you feel great having supported your local online game shop.
I am a MASSIVE Guild wars fan, If there had been an EotN collectors edition I would most definately have bought it. But there isn't. And seeing as the BMP was announced, what, a day? maybe 1/2 a day? After EotN went live, I would NOT have went down to my local Gaming store and bought Eotn. Even though the reason I did buy it was because I wanted the extras, I wanted the poster, and I wanted to read the book. Want is the word. And I do want the BMP.
My brother, who is by no means as in to guild wars as I am, told me he was going to be lazy and buy EotN in the online store, he did. Later on the BMP was announced, he emailed Anet yesterday I think asking if he qualified, he does.
You don't need your game, you want your game. And ANet provides, so as someone who wants access to the BMP, I'm gonna sign. Make it accessable by some other means, or by purchase. It's fine for everyone who has bought theres and would like it to stay exclusively for them, it's cool to have something that everyone else wants isnt it? Of course you want to keep it that way.

Is it that strange that someone decides to buy = spend real money only when he's convinced that what he's buying is worth it? And wants to check before?
Or do you buy everything, regardless if it's cool, average or crap, because you don't give any value to your money?
Really, some sentences make me think if people still have common sense.

I'm not talking about giving it for free here, you know. If it were up for purchase and I'd bought it, hadn't we both paid the same price for the BMP and deserved it? Only difference is you "taking the risk", but isn't being a better customer an intangible benefit for the exact same money spent?

Again, I never denied this. I just don't see what people with BMP now would lose should it be sold in the store. Is it a case of "I have X, therefore others may not have it" ?

Correction: It was announced at least 2 months before EotN went live.

At the end of the day.. @ people with the BMP: how does us being able to buy it negatively affect you?
Let's say it's at $30.
You paid the same price.
You got it earlier.
You had no **SPOILERS**.
You got GW:EN or 3 character slots with it (because that made the BMP free), which we wouldn't.
The only reason you don't want us to have it is the "ul you missed the deadline I HAVE IT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH". So yeah.
Get a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing good reason for us not to deserve to buy it seperately, or simply stfu and enjoy the BMP you already have that we are in no way spoiling.
I probably won't buy GW2 simply for this reason: the community is a pile of shit in general.
Thanks and bye.

If Areanet sends me a Box and discs, free of charge for buying EotN from the in-game store because I only bought it from the in-game store under the premise that doing so would be the only way to access the BMP, then I would /sign this thread. But they won't, because it costs money. I took the risk by giving up a box, discs, and instructions. Technically, I spent more money than you on the same product.

It negatively affects us in two ways:
1. We miss out on the RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing EotN box, how could you miss this argument?
2. We missed out on the sales retail stores had almost a week after EotN release.

No, we didn't get it free. I'll try to explain it from another thread. By having players buy EotN from the in-game store, Areanet saves on distribution costs (which include shipping, packaging, CDs) and the retail stores cut. This ends up being a rather decent chunk of change they "earned" by having players use the in-game store. Instead of giving the players the difference in a form of a discount (which is impossible, due to business negotiations), they kept it, as extra profit.

Well, it's not like EoTN boxed set was anything to write home about...
Like I said, it's up in the air at the moment. I think this is an interesting discussion and a major defining factor considering future strategies with the online store and its function. We will see.

The answer for most of these people would probably be "yes" for the sake of their argument... but in reality, really no.

Yes,we also did it within the promotion limit.
infact why didnt you go for the BMP and more char slots?
wouldn't that seem more efficient?
nice - so the huge ammount of time people had and NOW they want it off the online store? for less stuff and not for free? this was to promote people to use the online store.
2 words:weapon skins, and thats why people want it.
