I'm getting prepared by moving all of my characters out of the capital cities. Screw Wintersday and all its wonderful spam and lag. I have better things to do.

before the end of the year I want to:
finish prot of elona on my main ele (she has 2 missions left), cap some rit skills on my rit boy and get him thru the last 2 nightfall missions, finish nundu bay with my paragon, get my 2nd ele to amnoon (she is at the wilds now), same for my warrior (she is almost to denravi I think), get r5 norn on my tyrian lady monk (she just got to eton yesterday), finish norn quests with 2 mesmers and my main male monk (they have done the story line, now just doing the side ones), get my ranger thru unwaking waters (just finished eternal grove)....and if I have time do some farming for kurzick points and for plat for armors for 6 characters.
in real life??? have to get my christmas cards out, finish my shopping for my hubbys family (my family is already done and wrapped), and some accounting stuff.
Not much. Already have the gargoyle skulls, charr carvings, etc saved up from a few of my new characters doing the starter tyria missions....want to get rid of them so I can free up space on my mules (will be happier when canthan new years is over for that too----saved lots of 'collector' junk from last years)

I'll try to get my survivor to tier 3 before the event starts because the game will prolly lag as hell then and I REALLY don't want to risk it with that!
Although I would really love to start my new warrior after that ... so in the end I actually might even risk it!
Ahh we'll see!

And that list would be? I know what the major collectables are, but what gets traded for what? Like 3 charr carvings for 1 egg nogg kinda thing, any help would be great.

Farming sentient roots to trade for spiked eggnogs. Still need 200 more roots to get r1 drunkard.
And to above poster: Last year's collector's. Hopefully will remain the same, as halloween ones did.

But the official page stated to keep our candy canes till the great finale. Any ideas for what?

Last year there was like a nine-rings style game during the finale. You bet (and won) candy canes by standing in a ring with some in your inventory. I think it was 3 CC a round.

There are rumors (the thread is/was in Riverside iirc) of a ice bear minipet that has been added to the .dat file.
|
You don't need a lot of cc's, I thnk dan-the-noob is right, 3 per round for Grenth vs Dwayna. Other than that I think you can swap them for Peppermint candy cane weapons.
Interesting about the bear..
