To heal or to nuke?
I'm having a bit of a problem, lately I've been switching between a Monk and an Elementalist, enjoying them both.
What I want to do though is to have a main, so I was wondering, which profession is "better" at endgame?
By "better" I mean: better farming ability, easy to get into group, good at UW/FoW, easier to get titles etc.
I own Prophecies, Factions and soon Nightfall.
Thanks in advance

I agree with Loki.
Both of those classes easily fill the requirements you're seeking. Both are highly desired for high-end gaming.
Just boils down to your preferred playstyle overall. Do you like being the bombdropper or the backbone of the group? I'd just as well play both of them up if you enjoy them both.

Monks will get into groups all the time, but really you don't want to be grouping with pugs. Having said that, if you're with your guild you'll get into groups as an ele np either.
I'd say Ele 'cos they rock at farming completely, and my main is an ele

personally I would pick nuker just because they usually dont get yelled at if the party dies like the monk does.

- Could this be the reason why there's always abundance of sub-par nukers who think Meteor Shower is a good skill to have, but good Monks never show up in teams?

This exactly. I quit healbotting because of wammos with Sprint and Frenzy racing away and then wondering why I didn't follow through two aggro bubbles' worth of mobs to keep them alive. :P
I'd rather stand back and spike/nuke/freeze. ...not on the same build however.

I suggest Elementalist.
Why?
PvE healing of NPCs is either incredibly boring - healing henchmen also has requires you to call targets constantly, or they just do incredible bullshit and even supreme healing cannot keep them alive forever. Ritualists with their weapon spells and many indirect nukes have a similar problem. Elementalists lead the party, the NPCs follow better, they do not have this "me+heroes only" gameplay issue. If you like to play a lot on your own, definitely go Elementalist.
As a monk you get even easier into a group, that is the advantage. But PUGs are nothing you would desire in general. But at least you have a choice which group you pick.
For farming, they have different styles, but both are among the most efficient farmers.
In terms of looks, I prefer the female elementalist armors and skins over that of male/female monks and male elementalists. Beware that male elementalists have an incredible gay dance and not that much armor selection, I still think the Hydromancer 15k from Prophecies is one of the few good ones for them.

True that, my best friend plays a male ele and had to go pretty far out of her way to get him some armor that doesn't include a silly penguin coat.
He still looks like he belongs in a marching band, but that's okay.

Out of the two i would choose a monk, yes they can be a very tiresome role to play in pve and yes healing ncp's is a thankless task that gets dull very fast indeed.
That said there are many many brain dead eles out there while a good monk is a godsend. The farming capabilitys alone would sway the argument for me.
I was going to go into far more detail but my hangover is remakably large and i just cant be bothered.

As far as PUGs go, Monks are the most sought after then 'nukers'. Because the majority of GW PvE players are complete morons, the perfect group for them is 2 healing monks (no prot), 3 'nuker' eles (firestorm is in there somewhere), a MM (flesh golem duh) and a SS (most likely a combo of Curses+illusion with very little soul reaping) necro and a 'tank' (usually a warrior for some reason).
So yeah, you should have little trouble finding any groups with either profession. They're both very good at farming as well.

Playing a PvE elementalist is just a ton of fun hailing Meteors from the sky. Knowing your wicked power crushed the enemies is awesome. Monking in PvE tends to get boring, but awards great looking gear to get easily accepted into teams for PvP. And I'm a PvP person, so I'd rather have a PvE monk built up than an elementalist.

I would rather have a human Ele with Meteor Shower than a PUG Monk. Gtfo.

Play both...
Having a "main" only benefits titles, and titles are shit.

I would say ele if you like to hero/hench a lot. Mainly because heroes are quite annoying when you're a monk. They will just stop attacking if you don't wand stuff in time..

I would say Elementalist, its much fun to do most of damage either henching and in pug than healing henchies what gets so boring, or healing in a pug.

Paragons, Warriors, Monks, Necros.
The most insane things in PvE.
Monking with hench is one of the worst concepts in GW though ...

Caster hench with Monks isn't that bad...
Watching Koss run back and forth between you and the monsters gets annoying however.
