Yes, RoF is totally henchable, as is Prophecies.

Why would you do that to yourself?

One common complaint in Prophecies was that it took too long to get to level 20. Playing reasonably casually, it'd take a couple of months to complete the PvE campaign, and about half the campaign is intended to be played at sub level 20 - which for some reason upset people.
Also it was felt that the difficulty-level of Prophecies was too high - very many players never got past Thirsty River... or if they did, they got stuck at Thunderhead Keep.
So with Factions ANet did the exact opposite, you're hardly out of the Monastery before you're level 20 and nearly the entire game is played as a level 20.
However, having effectively no character development was, frankly, pretty boring.
So Nightfall is somewhere in between Prophecies and Factions wrt how fast you level.
However, the Ascension missions are actually quite easy, without resorting to gimmicky tactics; you just need to manage aggro, think about what you're doing, and not get stressed. The only one that can be a bit challenging is Thirsty River, especially the bit where you need to take out a monk boss and his priest helper who are spamming Word of Healing at eachother while their minions keep resurrecting. But, again, new skills such as Broad Head Arrow have made that a cakewalk too.

Prophecies = three of the most difficult missions in the entire campaign (I've done all except Ascension and the Ring of Fire) that can be nearly impossible without relying on other players.

Not really. I henched them all, with bonus, without heros, before Factions was released. Getting the *bonus* in some of them was difficult - but today, with all the new and far more powerful skills, you shouldn't really have a problem anywhere in Prophecies. Power creep has made the entire campaign almost ridiculously easy.

Thats understandable if you played a far easier and faster game like factions or nightfall before attempting prophercies. Had you played prophercies first, you would have probably felt the other two were too easy and not developed enough.
Which they arent... but they still work in their own way!
