Or perhaps it makes things easier for them? Maybe it's fun? 99% of the people in this game don't give a flying shite about "skillz" or what other people think, they play to have fun.

Again, because for some of us, it's fun. I am nearly to rank 5 in KoaBD, and I had a blast maxing every title thus far. And yes, people have PM'd me once they've seen things popping up in chat in town like "Legendary Vanquisher" congratulating me, to which I responded "thank you" because it took alot of time, effort and determination and I appreciate the fact that they appreciate it. I would congratulate a God Amongst if I was to ever see one.
Seriously, people need to not take this game so seriously. The point is to have fun, not skill, not reputation among other players. If sitting in the hall drinking booze or spending 2000k on sweets is fun for someone, so be it! Let them enjoy it, no one said you had to enjoy it, so go do something else! Titles are only useful/worthless in the eyes of the person looking at it. I'm sure there are some Incorrigible Ale Hounds that are quite proud of their accomplishment, but just because some of you refuse to sit in a hall and drink for 10,000 minutes doesn't mean you have to call them a douchebag or a loser, it's merely their way of having fun versus your way of having fun.

Also you dont get titles for fun, its e-peen and if you dont know what that means please consult your local therapist today.

Ok, you obviously missed the part where I spoke about, what is fun to you, may not be fun to others and vice versa.
If you are going to sit there and tell me, that I did not have fun, then I'd have to say that you've pretty much lost all credibility in my eyes and you should probably have your head checked because you're either incredibly stupid or you're a psychic.
Also, I have no idea where you get the notion that time=not-fun. Do you prefer the 2 second drop coasters at the theme park or the 600ft tall super-duper "pull 8g's", suck your eyes back into your sockets, 3 minute thrill rides? If nothing in this game took anymore than 30 seconds to complete, would you still be playing? Did you learn how to use all the professions, skills, maps, tactics, tricks, tips, team setups, and how to make a good build, in a day? Do you have ADD? Your logic confuses me.
Also, personally, I believe that the more time and effort you put into something, the sweeter the reward feels once you achieve it.

I respectfully disagree. It does take skill (knowledge) to vanquish everything there is to vanquish, especially with H/H. And the "Skill over time" aspect of GW is more of a function of the PvP side of things. Anything after completing the PvE storyline can be viewed as "grind." or, you could be like me and do things for the FUN of it. As for e-peen, most people around here could give a flip less about what others think of their titles. I, for one, go for titles for no other reason than "because they're there."
To the original question: I'd have to say Legendary Survivor. I did it once - ONCE - and was totally relieved to get it over and done with.

Most useless titles in no particular order:
Survivor
Drunkard
Sweet Tooth
Kind Of A Big Deal
Legendary Defender Of Ascalon
Protector titles
Guardian titles
Commander
Gamer
Champion
All Cartographer titles
Skill Hunter titles
Vanquisher
Faction Allegiance
They may be fun to acquire (for some of you) but they're pretty useless for the most part as they add no benefit to your gameplay. Heres hoping Anet gives them some use in GW2 for whatever bonus items they have planned.

Titles are all wonderful in their own special little way. honest.
As far as useless goes, it has to be drunkard. It's counter-productive since you're losing time AND money just to get it, and I don't believe anyone could find it fun achieving that title.. At least with sweettooth it's just the money.

Aren't these the same title?
LDOA, which can only be obtained by abusing a loophole and spending weeks afk is one of the singlest dumbest game design ideas I've ever seen in 20 years of gaming.

I really enjoyed certain titles. A lot. Even saying that, I'd say most of them are "useless", simply of course given the definition of "useful", so the topic is a little misleading if we are finding ourselves talking about skill, time, fun etc. Titles are for the most part simply something to do, their worth residing simply in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah... it shows how often you run IWAY, Spirit Spamming, Blood Spiking, Zergway, or whatever else the flavor of the month build is that is ridiculously imba.
Most of the best PvPers I've met are in the rank 2-5 range. The ONLY way you can get as high as rank 8+ is to either
a) run gimmick builds non stop
b) actually be legitamately that good (like in a high end HA/GvG guild)
I mean, not EVERYBODY with high rank runs gimmicky stuff. There are people who are legitamately good at the high end PvP.
The fame system is intrinsicly broken. The GvG/HB ladder and the ELO system is a far better system for determining actually skill. Fame jus determines grind... which makes it no different from any PvE title.

So basically running balanced is mandatory in HA you say huh, sorry to see most people wanting to nerf builds just because are popular, hmmm in that case how about we just kill the best actors, burn the best companies to create "balance" cause they are popular.
Back on topic, the way I see it CERTAIN titles reflect your work on the game, Like the cartographer title, doesn't just show how much did you scrape walls, to me shows the determination that player has to keep going and reaching his goal.

Good job being (in my opinion) the most credible and correct person here.
Titles don't need to be gotten. They're there if you want them. If you want to have fun spending hours of time across the continents capping elite skills, then, god dammit, so be it!
You guys shouldn't bash people that spend their time getting up titles. If it provides them entertainment and they enjoy it, let them be. No one ever said you had to be happy that they spent 10k minutes drunk.
I actually get the titles I can for the sake of my sense of accomplishment. Every title I've ever maxed out, even one so easy as Protector, gave me a sense of accomplishment, and I had fun doing it. You guys may not approve of my love for hugging walls to get exploration--but, I don't give a flying monkey f*ck about what you appreciate or don't.
Those of you that still think other people that grind up titles are idiots, here's a nice word of advice for you: Stfu, gtfo, and take your fail with you.
Now, onto what this topic is really about: I myself don't find any of them useless. As stated above, each and every title gives me a sense of pride and joy when I complete it. It feels great. None are useless for me, because every time I complete one, there's another for me to work on.

That's pretty much the gist of it. While it can be argued that Drunkard and Sweet Tooth do effect game play. I personally don't see the point of those titles.
I really wish the title Legendary Defender of Ascalon didn't require death-leveling as there's nothing defensive about killing yourself. If anything the title should be Legendary Loser of Ascalon.
