Again, why would Gaile say that gw2.com will be up this year, and loads of information will be available to us, if the game isn't going to be out til 2010? I can't imagine it taking another year and a half after the beta goes public, unless the beta turns out to be a total disaster.

Well you don't have to worry about any new expansions now. Do yourself a favour, and put those hours into a new game the developers actually care about.

Agreed, nothing but hype.
Although this caught my attention "Those arenas are now complemented by a persistent skirmish area called 'The Mist'. Imagine a 24‑hour, 365-day battle and you're pretty much there. Anyone can wander in at any point and contribute to the fighting; successful kills and missions are converted into equipment rewards. "

Sounds like HG:L unorganized PvP. It also sounds like HA=dead (before anyone else says it, I will; good riddance). That makes me QQ. GWP PvP rocked, they just put too many skills into the mix and bloated the tree into a forest.

I'm going to hope for a winter 2009 release. To rush it this year will make as horrible a failure as EotN (which was an advertisement for GW2). Yeah, that's what I'd call "self-fubaring".
I still think that if EotN were released this past winter, it would've been a bit more widely accepted and successful. It was rushed out in summer, and it sucked.
Anyway, a release in late '09 would probably be successful and enjoyable.

Just look at the releases of ANY other game. Lots of info gets released way ahead of time.

Here are my predictions (Can't wait to see how many people quote me stating SOURCE YOUR INFO LIAR)
Spring 2008: More hands on information about GW2 given to the public, a few more interviews here and there.
Summer 2008: First glimpse at Alpha screenshots of GW2, along with some videos if we're lucky.
Fall 2008: Closed beta begins for GW2, perhaps access for GW1 Veterans as well? Anet authorized screenshots and videos become more common.
Winter 2008: Open beta begins for GW2, weekends for everyone to access, and now maybe 24/7 access for GW1 Veterans. Media is flooded with player screenshots and videos.
Spring 2009: GW2 is released April, 28, 2009

I think that actually sounds pretty plausible.
With other games, (including GW1) how soon after the closed or open betas does the game get released?

EotN could have had an extra year of preparation and still would be basically the same. Most of the flaws that it suffers from are flaws in the entire GW1 series as a whole.

Yeah, well, I wasn't referring to the lack of hype from ANet - don't worry, there'll likely be tons of that as release draws to within six months - but to his statement that GW:EN sucked. I don't know what he had expected (WoW?) but it's easily on par with any of the stand-alone chapters in PvE quality, personally I'd say it's the best of the lot, but of course shorter.
The self-pwnage was inspired by his BS about how ANet was "self-fubaring".

Well, WoW hasn't changed much, or at least they didn't announce any thing new(doesn't include the usual new: new armor, weps, skills, etc.). At least for GW2 you are sort gambling, it could be REALLY good, or it might suck out right. But i think personally Starcraft 2 might be the main problem for GW2, as its releasing date is late this year, and we all( or, at least the Koreans ) love Starcraft don't we

Lich King is for people who are already willing to grind up to 70 and think 10 more levels is a lot of fun. I doubt they are getting any new accounts with it, no matter how many death knights they dangle before the gamers' eyes. Granted, that still leaves them with between three and five times as many active players as Guild Wars today (depending on whose figures you believe), but being an expansion their audience is ipso facto limited. Warhammer has probably as much a niche audience as Guild Wars (tabletop enthusiasts vs. PvP enthusiasts).

I don't, I think Starcraft suks. I don't like clickfest rts games though anyways. Talk about repetitive play that's what 99.9% of them are, same engine over n over n over again with just a different box cover and game art.

Isn't that what guild wars is? All you do is kill stuff, do missions to get to final boss to kill. IN ALL 4 GAMES! GASP!
