You also forgot option D: Yeah we screwed up (as Galie has since said is correct) but we can give back the favor. You see, it would be VERY easy to just add 35k favor to the existing number, and we would be right back to what it was before. Heck, they know the number down the to thousandths of a second when the favor was reset. It would be very possible to just take the 28k we have, and add another 35.90whatever k to it.

Or, if the problem actually is variable rollover, they may have to wait until the current favor boils down.

The current maximum favor is 34,999 minutes. Favor has been at 34,999 and when another title maxing was announced, it didn't go up any more. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Image:FavorScreen.jpg

edit: Favor is currently hovering just below 34,999, so every few minutes the cap is hit, for independent confirmation.

Confirmed, I kept /favor ready in the chat bar and hit it as soon as maxing was announced. It was at 35,000 and another /favor command later it was at 34,999.

Edit: This limit seems to have been placed consciously, as it cannot be explained by merely technical limits such as primitive data structures (int or long, signed or unsigned). That also means that ANet has been fully aware of the favor limit and they just decided that 35k should be enough for anybody.

nope i didn't forget. that option would have been the option to make everyone happy, and thus the option they wouldn't do

Actually, I'm pretty sure that a lot of us don't even give a shit about the favor lost. Look how much we still have. I'm content with 35k mins, that's plenty.
