Perfectly fair.

Yeah, cuz wanting the weapons in the BMP makes me such a bad person.
I like how half the people who are complaining about the reversal of anets BMP decision are only focused on the weapons/other people getting the weapons.
I hope they make every bit of content they have ever had as a drop or promo available in the online store.

Since anyone can buy the BMP to get the weapons, why shouldn't those that aquired it early have had a chance to sell or trade those items contained within it?
Ok maybe you could argue this is similar to a preview of a new chapter, where they locked the skills/items you aquired untill the official release date. Does that mean that all the customized items we now have will lose their customization and become tradable?
|
Best guess is they didnt want the BMP being too huge an advantage for players who have it, and they didnt want the weapons to affect the in game trade market....as is access to the BMP weapons already changes both of those for players that have them, if you could sell the wepons too that might be too much.
Plus another way to look at it is, if everybody has access to the BMP weapons, then the weapons out of the BMP will have little to no trade value because everybody has them.

I do understand your math; I did the computation myself, in fact, since I think in £ quite often myself. It is true that the "exchange rate" used in the pricing is somewhat different than what I see as actual currency exchange rates. I'm sorry that I don't know why that is. I do wonder if the £17 is based on the comparative costs of individual items in the in-game store, and that is how one arrives at that figure. I will pass along your concerns on pricing to the sales and marketing team, including those at NCsoft Europe and the US. You are welcome to make your thoughts known via a Support ticket, too, which will be passed along to the proper team member.
If you have read any of the forum threads in which I have been involved over the last couple of days -- and it's pretty hard to miss them -- you'll know that there are currently no plans to offer alternatives for the acquisition of the Bonus Mission Pack. It is a bonus intended for the in-game store. I have discussed this with sales and marketing and have let them know that players would very much like an alternative opportunity to purchase this through the in-game store. However, at this time, there's nothing to relay about any possible future options of this sort, with regret. --Gaile 17:19, 7 July 2007

It has nothing to do with content, it is about how ANet cheated people out of their money to participate in exclusive promotion... that end up not being exclusive anymore. I think they do ban people for cheating in-game, why no one ban ANet for cheating us out of real money? This is a clear case of false advertisement at least ... (*went looking for lawyers*)

This is exactly why A-Net advertised as your only opportunity to get it...FOR FREE. I think they were very careful in their words to give themselves the opportunity for additional revenue in the future.

And the $64,000 question........
If they needed the money, why didn't they just sell the dang thing for a straight $10.00 to begin with instead of pretending it was a "thank you" freebie?
Would have been more honest, straightforward and consistent.
Then when the time came they could release it retail everyone would be happy instead of feeling jerked around.
Only thing I can think of is that people would have complained that they were "selling content." But they are going to have to do that to survive until GW2 anyway so they might as well have gotten that whole argument over with sooner rather than later and avoid all this.

Nothing was free. You had to spend money in-game store to get the BMP. You could go and get EOTN for less in local store, and many people bought char slots, when they did not had to do so... it is cheating people out of their money by misrepresentation.

LOL, I said it earlier in this thread, y'all should have been around in the 80's when Coca-Cola decided after 60 years of being in buisness to not only change Coke's formula, but to discontinue the old and pull it from shelves.....it made national news several times in the following 2 years, we're talking /ragequit on a scale you cannot even fathom.
Point is, bigger companies have made bigger mistakes for DUMBER reasons (or no reason at all) and everybody survived and indeed eventually just moved on after the problem was remedied. This situation is no different except it's a way smaller puddle of spilt milk to be crying about.

Well I doubt gwen sales would have been as high due to the game being quite bad in all honesty, and they were selling it for a high price in the ingame store for people just to get the BMP cause it looks shiny. :/

-.- wtf
I specifically bought this bloody thing with char slots because of the so-fracking-called "limited" offer...
NOW them bastards are offering it for a third of the fracking price?
wtf -.-
GG nubs, great decision... seems like the people that make the decisions (use hat-draws much?) over at ANet, don't know what the hell they want.
So much for taking part in any future "so-called" special offers.

I agree (you can also remember that they change formula in 1903-1904 when they switched form cocaine to spent leaves), but you also comparing huge, multi-billion company to a little dwarf of a street vendor, monster survived and did not care much, this dwarf should care more about its customers...

Aye, you are a bad person for wanting it and not getting it when you had a chance to. People who couldn't get it for technical reasons (or a reason beyond their control) should have second chance (assuming that the problem is fix). I'm opposed to letting people you didn't want it when they had the chance but want it now because they know it has cool weapons a second chance, that's their fault they don't have it.
But once more, welcome to the world of BONUS PROMOTION And welcome to LIFE, where if you don't seize something when it comes along, you lose out.

Have only been playing for 2 months, I did not have a chance to get it the first time. But thanx for the attitude.
And I'l repeat what I said before, They should sell ALL of the special content they have ever had before, magazine promos- rare drops, whatever....all the hate associated with these limited edition things in the game has got to go.

TOUGH LUCK, ACCEPT FATE!
Or atleast you should, but A-net caved into the whiners months ago, and chances are they won't this time. My attitude is harsh, but realistic.
