So, instead of paying $15 a month, we pay $40 for an "expansion" that probably wasn't worth $40, and $10 - $30 for a BMP?
The only thing saving Guild Wars is the fact it's free to play. If it's pay-to-play with bonuses, then it loses some luster. Sadly, I think that's the direction that GW2 is headed towards - some kind of free-to-play "basic" Guild Wars 2, and a "leet" Guild Wars where you have to pay for extra content.

No it isn't. Many potential customers will never buy from the ingame store because they don't want to link their GW account to a PlayNC account like the ingame store forces to happen for those who use it. And also because they don't want the online store having their CC info. etc. etc. Many potential customers did not buy the BMP in the original promotion precisely for those reasons, and would likewise never buy it from the ingame store in the future either.

i disagree, yes the SF free update was nice and all, but Anet has to have a way to earn some money between campaigns, i mean, its not like they make this mission packs every month, and you dont have to buy the mission pack to keep playing the game or progress in the games storyline.

This goes too far in the other direction - unless you have a quote from Gaile saying the BMP would never be available for retail sale, you have no grounds for your lie.

the last 2 days the bmp promotion was running a big banner camped gw login screen saying "these are the last few days for your to apply for the promotion and be eligible to play the bonus mission pack"
can't go wrong when such a banner camps your game login window

Honestly, the only real complaint to Anet would be to increase inventory slots, yet I have yet to see those....

the full name is "Sorrows Furnance", its a pve area where the green weapons dropped from bosses where first to appear, it was a free update back in the 2005, it was an update to an area of Tyria (prophecies campaign).

Well I am not bothered by this a bit. It’s only PR marketing the first time, so that way the money could go straight to A-net with the release of EotN. They are now just picking up any lost revenue they can take from the BMP. This was not unexpected to me, given that A-net is just a corporation.
It’s just like when I see the Xbox 360 or PC only logo’s stamped on a retail box; I know sooner or latter that will become obsolete.

Where are people getting the idea from that this would never be available again? Unless someone wants to give an actual source, I believe they NEVER said that. In fact, Gaile said numerous times that she was unsure if it would be released later, but it would be a possibility.

I mentioned this earlier, but again, I have to say, I'm all for this approach. I have no problems paying for additional content that I actually want and I'm going to use, as opposed to the WoW style of paying for everything constantly, even when you're not playing.
If you don't want the expansions, you don't need to spend any more money. But if you want some extra content, it's there for you. Much better than paying monthly, in my opinion, especially now as 90% of PC games are MMO's, it's just becoming impossible to play more than a single game at a time. Due to subscription fees.

Surprising? Definately not. ArenaNet needs to milk as much money as possible.
Releasing BMP to stores to further increase profits: Wait, what?

This sucks for all those who bought extra stuff to get "exclusive" content.
Of course ANET wants to make money, but going back on their slogan/word of "exclusive" is quite lame.
ADDED: And Of course as well they removed the old page that said that BMP was a limited time offer--wouldn't want too much legal trouble? (not sure).

And the thing about people whining it was "so impossible" to get in Europe is straight bollocks, too. I'm from The Netherlands, probably one of the most digitalized-money countries in the world, where everything is ran through the PIN-system and hardly anyone ever carries loose change. This means we hardly ever use credit cards also, as we have a PIN for everything. It was still childishly easy to obtain a credit card and anyone could have done it.

Happily, I hope you're right. WoW had me paying for a lot of "leet" content I was never able to play. GW does the same thing (UW, FoW, etc.) just not to such an extent as WoW. If I had had a choice (i.e., if these areas had been offered as add-ons [like the BMP]), I would not have purchased UW, FoW, The Deep, Urgoz' Warren, etc.
